      What's amazing on this ride besides its long history is that going up is so different from the way down, to me anyway, you get to see different things each way and I bet the more you go on it the more you notice different things you missed previously. I'm glad we went to the top with the incline instead of driving. Must be a great ride for young couples too:) Your son has good taste.

    As a child me and my family used to live right across the street from the railway on the side of the lookout mountain. the area has special meaning. I want to visit again so bad. it is so beautiful there. The front door faced the street facing the railway & the back deck looked out over mountain Cliff

    The Lookout Mountain Incline Railway in St Elmo, just outside Chattanooga TN is a ride that starts at the bottom and climbs up through the natural beauty surrounding the historic Lookout Mountain at a breathtaking 72.7% grade, ending at the top of this scenic mountain where you can explore some historic sites and the beauty of the Tennessee river valley. to be continued on the next video.

    WOW! A great video of the incline railway. You even get a wonderful person, telling the story of the incline on the way up of down the mountain. If you go up the mountain, you get a fantastic view of Chattanooga, even you have the viewers that you can look into and see, too. It’s a great attraction and I would highly recommend it.

    thanks for sharing. going down would you suggest we sit in middle /front/back if I do not enjoy motion (get motion sickness LOL) and you mentioned the battle of chattanooga at top there is a museum? from top incline train you can see museum before riding train back? or is that a complete different tour? how long does that ride take, after you view observation top, then returning back, I recall 15min up/back so 45min enough ? thx

    • @JohnCRV
      @JohnCRV  2 роки тому

      For motion sickness I would sit in the back.
      The Museum battle of Chattanooga and park are 2 separate, if in a rush I would do the park.
      This video link shows both: studio.ua-cam.com/users/videou_JioqNV8RA/edit
      It's a beautiful park overlooking Chattanooga and lots of history.
      The museum is really interesting and gives you some time to cool off in the AC.
      All together we spent 3 hours there but we took our time had lunch, Ice Cream and enjoyed some of the old homes in the area on the walk back to the Incline tram.
      Hope you have a great time.

      Thanks De Eagle, I try to make them as short as possible but there's so much to to show and mention it's a shame to cut it all out, especially when a visitor is trying to get an idea of what to see and do. The top of the mountain has all the history and did not want to mix it with the ride. To be continued.... have a great weekend my friend.

    Wow, that's pretty incredible! Those views! Your narrating is so well done always, a wealth of knowledge on all these attractions you visit. I'll probably never get to go to half these sites so really appreciate you taking us along and giving a realistic view. Well done as always, excited to see you've been very busy & can't wait to get caught up on it all.

    Saying that St. Elmo is just outside of Chattanooga is like saying the East Village is just outside of Manhattan. Still, it was a wonderful video. I remember when it cost $6 for the round trip. If you want to see the original route, walk the Guild and Hardy Trails from St. Elmo to the Cravens House.

      Thanks for the info. We did Point Park ua-cam.com/video/u_JioqNV8RA/v-deo.html and all it's trails but had to pass on the rest but I really wanted to do the Cravens House. Next time I hope.

      He was LOL 😆 you will see why on the next video when he is climbing the side of the mountain, at Point Park civil war site, poor thing. This was before we took the Incline back down. But he will remember it for the rest of his life LOL. It,s important they know our history from a young age we believe. BTW, we love your home state of Tennessee, the people are very nice too. Reminds of how most of Florida once was. To be continued.......
