I feel like there's a ton of missed opportunity with "Take what you want, return what you get." Imagine a poster, big white letters that say "BLACK FRIDAY" and then beneath it a beat up wiggly with a bloodstain on it in the spotlight with a bunch of shadows and feet around it fighting, and then in smaller letters on the bottom "Take what you want, return what you get." That would be a haunting poster that would make anyone want to watch it. I would BUY that. Or a shirt that just had that line repeating all over it. Stuff like that. It was a great line in a great song. Edit: Or, yknow what would have been another tagline? "The last thing on my Christmas list." Plenty of ominous quotes here.
kim was so creepy in "do you want to play" and I saw a great meme someone posted on tumblr with tom/becky & mcdoon/cletus and it said something like "the couples who hunt children together stay together." it was great.
Lol we r doing a insta reading of twisted but I didn't get Robert or Lauren or Dylan or meredith (trying to get meredith) I got Jaime and nick (I'm trying to trade nick)
that countdown at the end though should be included in all of their acting reels - if you look at everyone's faces, they all look genuinely terrified of whatever's about to happen. curt reaching for peanuts, jeff shaking & breathing heavy, joey grabbing jaime & robert's hands, kendell's eyes welling with tears - those moments especially get me every time.
it's that slasher synth you hear in every 80s (or 80s-inspired) horror. every time you hear it, you're like "the killer's here!" and in this case, it was all of them.
Everyone ignores the part where Ethan comes back and yells at Hannah to give the doll to Linda. Seriously seeing Ethan going from his good dad status to just shouting at Hannah gave me mega chills
i think i figured put whats so unsettling about black friday to me. this is like the first actual serious musical that we knew beforehand was serious. like even tgwdlm waa very starkid and this one is very heavy
Honestly the scene that made me feel the darkness/seriousness of this was when that guy was beaten up to death for the plushie. It dawned apon me how real this scenario could be.. and i needed to take take small break after that 😅
"I've met god. He had nothing nice to say about you." is single-handedly the most powerful line i've heard in the entire damn musical and it gives me c h i l l s
I have been STUCK but the way Dylan sings "It's mine, it's mine, it's certainly mine!" Reminds me of something but i cannot pinpoint it and i love it so much but i wanna say something from Les Mis?
omg she prob thought Ethan and hannah can live happily in California together that’s probably why she gave up so quickly Can u hear my heart shattering over this
K D it will forever fuck me up that Hannah and Lex or anyone for that matter never address Ethan’s death because I feel like Lex’s reaction would be incredibly heart wrenching and so would Hannah’s since we never got to see her actually reaction because she ran so quickly it literally makes me want to cry
@@jilliansdustychair6499 I have a feeling that it wasn't included because there was never a right time. The people who knew that Ethan was dead were Tom, Becky, and Hannah, and any moment that Lex had with them were meant to have a victorious feel to the scene (waking Tom up, killing Linda, and the final song) and telling Lex would have severely slowed the scene down. As much as I want Lex to have time to mourn him, I feel like the scene could never truly portray the grief she's feeling. I guess that's why fanfiction exists.
A couple more moments that get me: General McNamera’s first entrance. The tension of the fight over the Wiggly doll ramping up to that ringing gunshot and the sudden blast of that “America Is Great Again” piano riff revealing our hero with the audience cheering their hearts out! Goddamn it gets me every time! When Wiggly’s glowing eyes appear over the banister, turning the tinsel into tentacles. Wiggly’s voice radiating menace while still using his cutesy UwU language. Basically the entire scene in the Black and White. (Uncle Wiley appearing out of the darkness eating an apple at the beginning was also a chilling moment.) The line during Monsters and Men (reprise): “I can show you the path, but only you can walk it.” There’s just something about the way it’s sung in that moment with the backing music and the cinematography that makes my heart swell with emotion. And many more. Honestly I love this musical with all my heart. ❤️❤️❤️😁
Evil For Sure basically, it felt like a more in-your-face bad ending like their last show. While it was undermined by a hive mind joyfully singing and dancing, this is still played with a “won the battle, but lost the war” vibe but definitely ore impending.
2:59 THAT'S THE LINE THAT ALWAYS GETS ME. CAUSE WE NEVER SEE LEX CRYING BUT HE SEES IT ALL THE TIME AND IT JUST PROVES HOW BEAUTFUL THEIR RELATIONSHIP IS OMGH I LOVE STARKID-
just felt i needed to share this: no one is talking about Dylan in “What Tim Wants”. yes, there were a few scenes from it here but not the one that i find particularly heart wrenching. the way Dylan sings “the kind that makes you question reality” at the start really hits me in a way that no other song quite manages. maybe it’s the way he sings the 2 notes on “reality” or maybe it’s just me but i feel like he deserves a medal just for that one word.
I didn't realize Dylan Saunders was the same Dylan Saunders as in the other musicals until recently (I'm not good with names). He looks so good, but his voice hasn't gotten any less heartbreaking.
Especially the second "the mountain I would have to climb, is so high up that I would have to die", it's right up there with "science says you're dead and gone forever, reason says I'm talking to the air"
Honestly I know Wiggly is a monster that causes people to go crazy, but... He's weirdly cute? Like, yes I do want to tickle that belly, but also no he's evil?
Curts whole backstory as the shopper is the bit that makes me cry the most, because its so a c c u r a t e and it makes me so upset because it could easily happen to anyone.

so much of this musical completely breaks me (a lot of Dylan and Robert’s emotional moments, all of feast and famine, J E F F, macnamara’s first entrance, Kim’s harmonies with Dylan, kim’s monologue about killing her husband, Kim and Dylan trying to lure Hannah, every single time Kendall sobs, etc..) but when Lex sings “maybe I was wrong, she can go on her own”, I just cant handle it. it’s beautiful like omg
what gives me chills is at the end when everyone's in a line singing "what if tomorrow comes and takes the night away?" ugh! just the parts and the lighting it's all so cool
JEFF’S HARMONIZES IN FEAST OR FAMINE, THE CHOREOGRAPHY, THE SYNTH/PAINO, THE INTENSITY. FUCK, BLACK FRIDAY IS A MINESHAFT AND FEAST OR FAMINE IS THE GOLD.
I'd have added "Hey kids! You know when you grow up with all the crap you want?" from Made in America. The voice change is so smooth and subtly horrifying when you realise he was a children's toy mascot
Yep, "Feast or Famine" hit me so hard when I watched this show for the first time!! I literally paused it and sat there for a second with goosebumps, rewinded a bit and replayed that section, because.... DAMN.....
"If I Fail You" is on itself one of my favorite scenes in Black Friday. But when Tom sings the "And then flash..." part and the light seems to be representing a car crash... It hits me, and hits me hard. Hands down my favorite moment.
The new Starkids (Jon, Curt, Kim, Angela and Kendall) all killed it in this show, Lauren and Joey are fantastic villains and Dylan Saunders can still rip your heart out like nobody else
'"look at you! you're paralyzed with fear!" "no, im just lining up my shot."' "only my ashes will see the sea" both are my favorite lines and the first one gave me fucking chills the first time i heard it
Honestly the entirety of the song Black Friday gave me chills and made me cry so hard. I just can’t express how much I relate to feeling like the world is against you, when I’ve spent my whole life holding on and waiting for my own ‘california’ far from my abusive dad. curt mega's "you never should settle" is the most feral thing in feast or famine to me and it gives me chills every time

it gives me serious chills no matter how many times i watch it
and jon's face during the "nuke" sound though
I just rewatched that and my eyes filled with tears
People often forget or overlook the fact that the Starkids are all fantastic actors
Joey reaching for Robert gets sadder when you know that Hot chocolate boy is Ted’s little brother
"only my ashes will see the sea" is the ost gut wrenching lyrics ive heard in a while, and i gasped the first time i heard it
It's my favourite lyric in the whole musical :)
I just realized that this lyric relates to CaliforM.I.A. because she would’ve seen the ocean in California. That makes it even more chilling.
That whole song is absolutely heartbreaking
doesn't, Lex live on an island-
Cherri Bombs maybe it’s not an island the ocean, like an island in a big lake?
The piano instrumental to Feast or Famine before the song actually starts always gives me...this horrid off putting vibe, it’s devilishly perfect.
Milly Lessin! it’s almost like pirates of the caribbean

Never Be Alone
Do you want to play? is one part that really gave me chills.
Absolutely!
Emmy me too I get so frustrated when people don't rank it high for songs in the show
Reminded me of the Child Snatcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Her voice is so haunting..
Her voice reminds me of Come Little Children - beautiful but super creepy

He slipped into Professor Hidgens for a sec there🤔
The fucking demon voice he does was so fucking intense I wasn't sure if it was his voice or if they had put some scary effect on it
He went full on Nicolas Cage
I'm so shocked Joey's "...Y'know why it had to be a doll?" isn't here
Joey’s monologue freaked me out so much when I first saw it
Me too! I was hoping it’d be here
It's not? Damn, ok
i would have included all of kim’s monologue about killing her husband💀💅the talent
Not gonna lie. I’m a little miffed that Jeff shouting “chaos reiiiiiiiigns” in feast or famine isn’t on this.
