From 6 September 2023, TV Avisen has a new look.
TV Avisen has been a flagship in Danish news coverage for almost 60 years. With a comprehensive redesign - and the new name TVA - DR's leading news brand enters a digital reality with a focus on streaming and live. At the same time, the new design links the news coverage on TV and the web more closely together. Based on the 'eye', a visual identity has been created that includes, among other things, intros, colors, visual hierarchies and a wide range of tools for visual journalistic narratives.
DR is ready with much more TV Avisen - just when it suits you
Follow the news as it happens and stay updated on the biggest stories when it's convenient for you. From 6 September 2023, DR is ready with a brand new edition of TV Avisen, which is always updated with the latest news from all over Denmark and the rest of the world.
DR premieres TVA Live, a new offer for the Danes, which complements and stands on the shoulders of TV Avisen that the Danes have known for almost 60 years.
Changes in users' media habits and the speed of news delivery place new demands on DR's public service content. Users are increasingly looking towards the digital platforms and want access to the news as it happens and when it suits them.
- We are now rethinking TV Avisen so that it matches the users' demands and needs, while at the same time preserving TV Avisen's precious DNA, which has been the core of our news delivery since 1965. With a promise to users that TV Avisen will always update them on the most important thing right now, we are sending a clear signal that TV Avisen is no longer something you have to sit and wait for, but is a news service that is always awake and up-to-date and that can be accessed when it suits the individual , says Sandy French, who is news director at DR.
TVA Live will be present all the time on all DR's digital platforms and can always be found live at the top of DRTV, on dr.dk and in DR's news app, and daily you can also find TVA Live on DR1 and DR2.
- In recent years, among other things, the corona pandemic, the war in Ukraine and the pressure on the democratic institutions have shown that the importance of TV Avisen is perhaps greater than ever. But the development in technology, media landscape and habits means that the requirements and expectations for TV Avisen anno 2023 have changed significantly, and we have seen that users increasingly look to digital platforms to get their news and be updated when it looking after them. Now we have a clear concept for TVA that matches that need, says Sandy French.
The news picture right now
At TVA Live, you can always be updated on the news picture right now. It can be a sharp and precise broadcast that gives you an overview of the most important stories from home and abroad, or a focus on one particular story, when, for example, major breaking news stories unfold live.
At TVA Live, viewers will experience a news update with a focus on news from all parts of Denmark and a massive global presence, when DR Nyheder's correspondent corps will analyze and put perspective on news from the world's hotspots.
- We have been practicing for the past year and have sent a lot more TV Avisen during the day, and we are looking forward to going live with TVA Live. But we are also aware that we must constantly build on and develop further, so that TVA can maintain its core values and be a relevant, credible and up-to-date gathering point in the news flow, says Marie Buss, senior editorial director for TV in DR Nyheder.
In the evening, TV Avisen at 18:30 on DR1 continues to offer today's most complete roundup of the entire news day, while TV Avisen at 21:00 each day provides a special perspective on the day's most important stories.
Another change is that TV Avisen 18:30, 21:00 and TVA Live will have a new overall visual expression, where the kinship with dr.dk is clearly evident. At the same time, a number of new graphic tools are introduced, which both support the promise of being fully updated at all times, and which provide a new dynamic layer in which to unfold the journalism.

The current TV Avisen theme is good, but nothing beats the one used between 2017-2023.

Such an amazing music
This is actually very intricate. I dig it.
Are you gonna do the same with 2010-2017 and 2017-2023?
Not as good as the old version.
Everyone ripped the old music as a BBC ripoff, and while I don’t get that, I do see it a bit. But at least there’s some originality in this one. And how they hid the DR sound jingle all around is pretty great.
