Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie recalls what went into the classics that became anthems of a generation.
A prominent campaigner for the rights of Palestinians, Gillespie said Madonna was a “total prostitute” and will “do anything for money”, over her decision to perform during the final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Earlier, Madonna said: “I’ll never stop playing music to suit someone’s political agenda nor will I stop speaking out against violations of human rights wherever in the world they may be.”

You couldn’t be further form the truth, only a very small percentage of Jews are against Israel. To not accept Israel’s right to exist is considered an extreme position and is not only anti Semitic but also anti peace as there will be no peace agreement with out Israel’s existence. Jews take any threat to their existence very seriously as they have learnt from history.

@@ohyeahohyeah8855 There are two main sects of judaism which interpret the torah in that way - neturei karta and the satmar, they number roughly 70,000 in total, which is under 1% of the Jewish population, you may look this up for yourself, you'd struggle to find many Jews who interpret the torah like this outside of those groups.
To say Israel was not important to Jews before the Holocaust is like saying Jesus is is not important to Christianity. Firstly the Jewish connection and attachment to Israel is as old as the Jewish people. Jews express their love of Israel everyday though prayers (look up the Shema) and practices (jews pray facing east towards Jerusalem). Secondly Zionism long pre dates the holocaust as does anti semitism, although the holocaust did drastically increase the number of Jews fleeing the death camps in Europe with nowhere else to go and no protection which inevitably drove Zionism. As did the expulsion of Jews from middle eastern countries. You can't really call it brain washing when even in this comment section there are people threatening the existence of Israel and Jews.
The Un made the agreement to partition the land into two states, one for the jews and one for the arabs. The jews accepted and the arabs rejected. As soon as Israel declared its independence in 1948 the surrounding arabs nations attacked Israel simultaneously with the intention of wiping Israel off the map, which was unsuccessful. Unfortunately as a consequence of the war many Palestinians were either killed or made refugees but in the context of war this is normal (name a war in which this has not been the case). This does not equal chucking people out of their houses and torturing them.

I liked Bobby Gillespie in Jesus & Mary Chain and when Primal Scream were in the C86 scene with classics like Velocity Girl and the early 90's psychedelic dance tracks like Loaded and Higher Than The Sun. But after that, I think his music and his politics has been pretty dire.

Madonna paid part of her performance costs ‘out of her own pocket’
Israeli-Canadian billionaire Sylvan Adams tells the Kan public broadcaster that Madonna’s Eurovision appearance was never in doubt, calling hiccups that delayed her gig being confirmed as “little contractual technicalities.”
Adams played a key role in bringing Madonna to Israel for the show, flying her and her entourage to Tel Aviv in his jet on Tuesday, despite her not yet having a contract signed at that point.
“She flew a ton of equipment from Las Vegas here a month ago. Once she was physically here, there was never any doubt there would be a contract sign.”
On Thursday, she reached an agreement with the European Broadcasting Union to put on the show.
Madonna wants to put on a “special” performance tonight, Adams says. Asked if rumors that she paid for some of the costs “out of her own pocket” are accurate, Adams confirms this. “That’s correct… She wanted a certain level of her show and she wasn’t going to compromise.”
Asked whether that means Madonna’s losing money to perform, he says, “I don’t know if she’s losing money, but she didn’t do this for the money.”
“She wanted to come,” he says. “She knows us, she likes us.”
He adds: “It’s really good to have friends like that.”
Madonna, who is not Jewish but has dabbled in Kabbalism, has made several trips to Israel over the years and played three shows here.
