I've never made a smash cake! Aww look at your little helper😊 Oh my gosh these turned out so pretty! And love the picture of the boys smashing the cakes🎂🎂 And yes there's always the dreaded aftermath in the kitchen! Thanks for sharing this, Rebecca💙
My kids always love helping me bake or cook anything! I was so happy to make these for my friend. Thankfully all the mess actually fit in my sink and that was the extent of it! Thanks for watching Amy!
First time mom here 🤗 my little one’s birthday is in April, so I’m trying to get myself together to make her a smash cake. Love your content! Subscribed ❤️
Thanks so much for subscribing! You can do it! The first decorated cake I ever made was for my first daughter's first birthday and I got hooked after that!
I just finished baking and cooking my cakes and OMG they are soooooo good!!! I had to lick the spoon of course and the batter was even delicious and the baked cake was just amazing! Thank you for sharing the recipe!!!
Wow, you make a really good cake. Are you a patissier? The cake is really nice. I want to make this cake for my family. Besides, the color is so pretty. My daughter is 5 years old and likes this blue system. As soon as I watch this video, I think I'll look at the video clip while it's so pretty. And if I ask to make it, I'll be very excited. Ha ha! I think it will taste good because I like cake too! So I watched your video hard. I will try again later and your new friend is here. I will look forward to the next recipe. Thank you for sharing the recipe.❤️❤️👍🏻😍
Thank you for sharing! I’m going to try this for son’s first birthday. Are you using two 6 inch pans for each cake and cutting them in half with frosting in between? Thank you!
This video made me want to make my son his smash cake for his first birthday on the 16th!!! Did you make these cakes the day before or the day of the photoshoot?
These were made the day before and then I boxed and refrigerated them for my friend. She used them the next morning! You will do an amazing job on the cake!
@@StuffMomsHaveTimeFor in the video you say 6 cups of sugar and the description says 3 1/2 cups. It's the first time I'll be making a cake and love how yours came out.
@@esmedoll94 Sorry about that! It is 3 cups. I just fixed it in the recipe. I said 6 in the video because it was the recipe doubled cause I made 2 cakes. Hope this helps!
Hey There! First time Mom here and im getting ready to make my little boy his 1st birthday cake. Loved this video so much that Im going to attempt this. But a little confused on the receipe. You mention to HALF everything to make a single cake, but a comment below says for a single cake, use 3 cups of sugar. But if I'm to HALF everything in the description, should it be 1.5 cups sugar? Thank you so much in advance!
It should be 1.5 cups of sugar for a single cake! I messed it up. I am going to fix the description! I will edit the recipe to be for 1 cake only, because you were not the only one who said they were confused! Sorry! Happy cake making!
Usually I just use the target brand of butter unsalted or whatever is on sale. Yo get it whiter I would whip the butter first for a while and it will start to lighten. Also make sure your extracts don't have color to them. Many times especially vanilla will tint the icing yellowish. If you can not get a nice white color after whipping the butter longer you can always add a whitening agent.
The kitchen aide in this video is : amzn.to/3owFUi5 in the color red I have since upgraded to this larger kitchen aide: amzn.to/3Fncf1O as I have started to bake much more and also make pizza dough in it. I wish I had bought the bigger one first!
I usually only make cakes for family and friends. So I never charge for anything. It's a fun hobby for me and not a business. So I honestly don't know what I would charge for smash cakes! Sorry 💖
preppykitchen.com/vanilla-buttercream/. Since making this video I no longer use that buttercream recipe. I find this one in the link above much smoother and easier to work with. Hope this helps!
If you are making a single cake it is 340g of butter in the cake recipe. If you are doubling the cake recipe like I did it is 680 g. Hope this helps! Happy baking! 💖
Sorry! In the video I am making 2 cakes so the recipe is doubled (6 cups). The recipe in the description is to make one cake so it is 3 cups of sugar for making a single cake. Sorry for the confusion! Happy Baking!
There’s a girl on Facebook that has a picture of these cakes on her business page and is trying to pass them as her own. As a home baker I would be really upset so I just wanted to let you know. I didn’t know how else to get a hold of you. Please let me know if you want her name so you can report it.
These are such simple and adorable smash cake ideas! Have you ever made a smash cake? Let me know with a comment below!
No.. but love your technique and effort.. will try.. thank you for sharing the recipe...
For those of you confused! I messed up the recipe in the video it is only 3 cups of sugar for these 2 cakes! SO if you half it is 1.5 cups sugar!
Exactly what I needed! Thanks! Ironically making cakes for my twins as well!

Good job!
Thank you for sharing 💙💙
How many cake pans to you use for the singe batch? I used two and feel like I needed another on. They told almost an hour to bake.
Thank you for sharing! I’m going to try this for son’s first birthday. Are you using two 6 inch pans for each cake and cutting them in half with frosting in between? Thank you!
If the cake is thick enough you can cut 1 cake in half or you can bake 4 small cakes and it will require less cook time. Good luck!
Lol I always hate the ending is dishes !! But Thank you for sharing your tips with us!!
Hope they help! and I hate dishes too.
Love this video!! Thank you :) what kind and specific color of food coloring/gel did you use??
I usually use americolor food coloring. The pigments are really good and you don't need much of it!
I loved this!! Keep it up girl!
Thank you so much!
this looks delicious😍😍
Thank you I love this funfetti recipe!

what butter do you use for your icing? My frosting always comes out with a yellow tint and it messes with the look of the ombre

Can you tell me which KA mixer that is? It looks bigger than mine.... looking to upgrade.

I’d love to know how would you charge these??

What if I don’t have a baking scale? Approximately how much powdered sugar would I need? I would be tripling the recipe as well.
preppykitchen.com/vanilla-buttercream/. Since making this video I no longer use that buttercream recipe. I find this one in the link above much smoother and easier to work with. Hope this helps!
Also I would just 3x that recipe to do this cake.
Did you let the cake cool before frosting?
Yes, if the cakes are too hot the icing will not go on well. I let them cool till they are room temp at least before I decorate.
Cake blue britney 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I'm sorry which sugar to use? Powder or the grain sugar to the cakes not the icing?
No problem! I used granulated sugar in the cake itself. The powdered sugar is only in the buttercream icing itself.
@@StuffMomsHaveTimeFor Thank you, I loved the video!!
What is the butter brand that you use ?
I usually use salted butter from the whole foods brand 365. Hope this helps!
Great ! Thank you
How many grams is “one stick of butter”?
1 stick of butter is 8tbsp which is roughly 115g of butter. Hope this helps!
How much in grams for the butter
If you are making a single cake it is 340g of butter in the cake recipe. If you are doubling the cake recipe like I did it is 680 g. Hope this helps! Happy baking! 💖
So I was gettimg ready to make this cake lol. Your video says 6 cups of sugar and your description says 3 cups. Which one is it? Lol
Sorry! In the video I am making 2 cakes so the recipe is doubled (6 cups). The recipe in the description is to make one cake so it is 3 cups of sugar for making a single cake. Sorry for the confusion! Happy Baking!
