Oh man I started on this mixer and I have to say that it still beats every "all-in-one" mixer I've ever come across (except for the s4). This is THE mixer to get for those beginners trying to get a feel for mixing. The only issue I had with it was that the compatibility with Traktor is shoddy and Torq isn't as stable as some of the other big mixing software.
I still highly recommend for anyone who is a beginner and doesn't want to spend a fortune

Really outstanding product review. Very interesting control surface. I'm especially impressed that it has a mouse touchpad that doubles as a kaos pad.

this is the where i first heard about the exponent, and even torq for that matter, i just ordered one, and from all the research i've done, i'm pretty satisfied, i hope it works as well in real life as it looks like it does everywhere.

The demonstration looks impressive. What it doesn't show you is the hell on earth it is to install the software/driver components on some computers. Something I've been working on on mine for over an hour, now.

I wish you could elaborate on this. I've been dj'ing since 1996. I love vinyls as much as anybody. I have over 4000 records. Laptop dj'ing changes the game completely. The track accessibility is remarkable and the creativity factor is also absolutely amazing. I can put this thing and my MacBook Air under my arm and be out the door. Soooooooo much better than the days of lugging crates of vinyl and tables with you to every party you go to.

I bought this controller because of its affordablity and number of options to control. I'll eventually move onto other equipment as I save money, but for any beginning dj this equipment is choice. I also enjoy the user friendly torque program. All you need to do is choose the folder and all your songs from your laptop or external hard drive can easily be organized by bpm. Being able to sort thousands of songs by bpm creates endless mixing allows for discovery of new mixes between songs

Minimal Techno DJ right here so we're on the same page. I would say to definitely go with the xponent because there are tons of effects and the midi controlled knobs and xy pad works beautifully. It gives you perfect response for your mix.
Oh yeah and if you don't like the software it comes with, VDJ has even more effects and the controller is mapped out perfectly so that it works flawlessly.

Hi DeeJayTan, Okay thanks for the cool info :-) I had no idea, but will look into getting an external soundcard to see the difference. I was hoping my PC and Mac soundcard was enough...but I imagine there's another level of quality to reach. Thanks again and keep making music!

1 question. usually in a traditional kit, the mixer has a seperate crossfader for the headphones....so one can hear the left cd player, whilst the right plays to the audiance.....basicly what i want to know is, how can you preview the left deck over the headphones, while the right plays, and vice versa..?

the jog wheels do both pitch bend on the side, and on the top of the jog wheels, they emulate a vinyl start/stop feel. the sensitivity for both actions are user adjustible with the software. and, they don't feel cheap either.

I've had a 4x4 M-Box that I've been using for 8 years almost. It has never had a problem. If you are concerned about what will happen to the equipment then get cases for it. Welcome to the age of technology. Expensive gear that breaks easily.

I was wondering about the jogs ... are those really that loose as it shows in the video when you spin them around? Is there any possibilities to change the resistance? Looks like Hercules MK2 jogs (for the resistence) and I didnt like them at all. Push them a little, and they spin for 5mins :D I'm just starting this whole dj-stuff, but I really liked the touch with cdj-400 and cdj-1000

hey, when you use the mic on this console, do you need to use one of the channels on the mixer or does have a separate channel for that? I use BCD3000 from behringer, but using Virtual vinyl software I can't use the MIC, and if I use the traktor software that comes with it, everytime I need to use the mic I loose channel 1, so it's either you talk or you mix... THX a lot!!! awesome vids. planning to trade the BCD for this one.

Yup I agree Sw1pe, I got the M-Audio Mixlab Pro Session which is the $100.00 product and after a week of having it, the controller stopped mapping to the correct buttons with torq software. I had to reset it multiple times before calling tech support. I had to return this item. So I might get the NS7 from Numark or Vestax 300

save your own mixes direct onto your computer/laptop
and how many connections do you need to be able to hook this thing up to the laptop? is it just one USB port?

Nice! :) 2 Quick questions, as im thinkin 2 get this kit on wednesday.
    1. Can you use headphones in this and preview just 1 track in your ear headphones. So the crowd can't hear it before it goes live. How do you switch between the 2 while u mix?
    2. Do the pitch sliders lock the speed so u can only speed up and slow down the track, or do they allow you to change just the pitch of the song instead? Or can you do both?
Ne1 get bak 2 me plz as im thinkin 2 get mine on weds. :)

does any one know how to get the song to play back immediately after you pause it because i feel this is holding back my scratching cuz theres a slight delay when you let off where a vinyl starts playing instantly when you tap(pause) or like trying to scratch samples

  • @spindrome
    @spindrome 17 років тому

I just bought one and my initial feedback on it is very positive. I've played with the Hercules DJC2 and Behringer BCD3000, and the Xponent is by far a superior product. This is not a TOY.
The shuttle jogs are HEAVY, which is a great emulation of a turntable platter "feel." Switching to "vinyl" mode allows you to initiate your mix just like you would with TT's and "push off" with the shuttle jog wheels.
Will post more comments after I play around with it more...
