Clarification: for the one hit kill, it's obviously in the other modes (it's pretty awesome in my book) but the frequency is the difference on madhouse mode. There's a part during the fight where Jack initiates the attack and uses it over and over again. Hope this helps!
oddly i had a super easy time in madhouse fighting himthanks to the nulifying all damage with blocking and using the circular saw a lot it made the fight extreamly easy.
PuppyLuvU2 I beat madhouse mode without the saw or the block upgrade. I just used enhanced hand gun ammo during that fight instead of the chainsaw

So glad Madhouse isn't just a generic health and damage buff for the enemies. The game is actually DIFFERENT in some ways.

I fight for my friends. Sometimes health and damage buffs work and can change the game. For instance, in Doom, enemies do more damage than you can recieve from any health pack in the entire game (highest amount from health packs is 30, and the weakest enemy can do 75 in one hit) which multiplies the games need to dodge attacks and be as aggresive as possible in order to build up health. In games like Resident evil, stuff like this increases the hopelesnes of the game. It doesn't work for every game.

From My Conclusion after watching this video, I have realized that i'm not ready for Madhouse Mode.

A way to make it easier is to get all the unlocks and then try Madhouse (Thats what im doing)
You haven't felt true hatred until you've spent over an hour dying to the first fucking boss because missing her head more than 6 times means you have to get close with the axe, and since she damages like half your health per hit fighting her close range is essentially suicide. Not to mention that every time she kills you you're treated to an animation that lasts well over 10 seconds of her cutting all the way through you and laughing in your face. Then enjoy respawning before you have the fuse, meaning you have to sit through the cutscene where she saws your hand off before hitting the button to drop the stairs, climbing into the attic, grabbing the pistol, ammo and both medkits (and using them instantly because the scripted fight puts you very close to death) every time you die. I saved Zoe on the madhouse run, solely for the satisfaction of killing Mia.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who felt this hatred during her bossfight. I died over 27 fucking times and was close to throwing my controller across the room. Took me an hour and 19 minutes to kill her and the evil smile of satisfaction on my face when her body hit the ground was the greatest feeling in my life

yea eventually I came up with the idea to up her with the axe right when she drops into the room to score a few vital hits so if i missed with the pistol id have at least a few less hits to score to take her down
Personally I think it's more intimidating when Jack moves slower. My first "Oh shit!" moment was in the garage, shooting him in the face and hearing "Heheheh, that gun ain't gonna work the way you THINK it will.." as I ran low on ammo
Shit my first one was at the very beginning when you leave the kitchen and go around the first corner and he comes up out of nowhere

GeorgeWBushTeaBag When the Molded move faster, they're creepier, because they're already disturbingly deformed, kind of a pain to kill or get headshots on, with no real conscious and hobble around until you get a good shot and then they're right up in your business a split second later, as if they don't know any better. Same with Mia when she's got the chainsaw, that shits creepy when you see her running at you and that chainsaw gets closer... I think they should've kept Jack moving slow throughout the difficulties and just make him much more violent up close as far as when he actually does to you, like he's premeditating everything.
I agree with the Molded it works when they move faster because they're already creepy as it is. I think Jack is scary either way haha. Whether he's slowly methodically moving towards you with that damn shovel or when he's moving like the flash he scares the hell out of me either way. And dude don't even get me started on that Mia part lol. I dread going through that chainsaw fight every time. I was going to start my madhouse run this weekend but after watching this comparison I'm having second thoughts.
GeorgeWBushTeaBag Yeah dude no kidding! After considering going for the madhouse run I was like "...I'm gonna try and unlock some more special stuff first..". The Molded are already a pain to hit, and I thought stuff was dangerous enough of normal... Albert's pistol just isn't gonna cut it enough, especially for having a shitty fire rate and has a 3-round magazine capacity which I REALLY don't understand, nor like, its a custom Beretta...that would fit California's standards haha..
Madhouse mode was fun. I definitely appreciated Jack's increased awareness and movement speed. Those four-legged molded bastards were a problem though. Little bastards!

i witnessed a very horrifying scenario in madhouse mode, when I first encounter jack and I hid in the room after the kitchen, he fucking chopped off my leg with the shovel then taunted me with strong medicine at the door telling me to "hurry up boy, times wasting" as im slowly bleeding out and fading to black only to reattach my leg with the medicine. then he starts striking the ground with the shovel yelling "Run boy ruuuuuun", never ran like a motherfucker in a game in my life

CarpetCleaner well if you have to unlock madhouse mode then you get to experience that first. then when you replay it on a harder difficulty you'll still get scared of Jack because while you've gotten better and used to the horror, jack isn't fucking around anymore
CarpetCleaner Not really. I finished it on easy, medium and now I'm playing on madhouse and him being relentless and chasing is way more terrifying than him scratching his nuts for 5 minutes and starting to walk when you have already escaped.
No hate to players who play it on easy I mean I do sometimes for fun as well but more often on medium.
Just from personal experience he is far worse on madhouse
Previously he stood still so you can escape easily but now he's not having it. You can escape him but it's way harder than just running into another room.

So basically:
Enemies are way more aggresive
Valuable items are locked
Enemies deal more damage
Enemies have more health
I don't why but i'm literally scared playing madhouse even tho i beat the game 3 Times using normal mode not easy, well i think Its beacause some of the items are locked so i'm scared.
@@isyeisnaet3365 None of the essential items are locked, for example you don’t need the scorpion key to get a shotgun, nor do you need it at all really, all it does is make it so you don’t need to go through the shadows puzzle in the main hall, it’s mainly convenience, although the coins you spend don’t really matter, as you can get steroids and stabilisers free
Madhouse is so fucking easy if you use the albert pistol, buzzsaw and both defense items together. Just block all the time and use the saw aiming for their heads
I can agree with Ben here, I just loaded it up the other day, now doing madhouse run, mutated fight with Jack was my bane on normal. I didn't even die on madhouse, with both the defense things, you take virtually no damage from blocking. You can also cancel like 90% of animations to speed things up if you're worried about getting caught off guard!

If you go for Madhouse without 'special items' you're going to have a rough time lol. But I've been told using special items will make it a ton easier, making it so you can complete it in 4-5hrs if you want.
Using special items makes it a LOT easier. You can complete it in under 2 hours.
Schwifty yes its true the defensive scrolls you get from destroying all mr.everywheres and completing the game on normal (i guess?) keep you alive insteed of two hit kills if you block and the circle saw if you finish the game in under 4 hours (not a big deal if you keep moving and dont go unnessessary routes) the circle saw is pure gold defeating jack in the basement in under a minute and stunlocks and kill every molded if you aim for the head. Its supereasy for Players which dont want to have the brutal and difficult challenges madhouse can offer but want to give it a try (for trophies maybe)
Circular Saw saved my ass! I used it on Jack while looking for me in house and he is down for while and boss battle I beat him almost a min with circular saw. Thanks god, I started play Madhouse earlier and I didn't know everything is way different.

Schwifty Don't use special items on Madhouse. That's pussy as hell. I did it with nothing on Madhouse my first try, got to the mines and couldn't complete it. Did it a second time from the beginning and conserved way more and beat it with health and ammo to spare.
I absolutely love the death animations in this game. like, if your head gets decapitated the camera follows where it lands and sometimes the camera shows your body just flop over.
Well if it's true that brain activity is still active for up to 15 seconds after decapitation then capcom has done there research well

She has soooo much health, I ran out of every type of ammo and had to kite her around the house to scrounge up a final bit of fuel for the burner XD

I feel like Madhouse mode feels more "realistic" in a way; mostly with how the Bakers come after you relentlessly. It's interesting to see all the differences! Thanks for showing us!

Nope my heart can't handle madhouse
I couldn't even get past the battle with Mia and that chainsaw
I didn't like the fight against Mia in the beginning, that was just unnecessarily hard
I would guess that it's a small test for the player. If he's not accurate enough to deal with Mia without running out of ammo/dying, then it's an early sign, that he's not yet ready for the Madhouse
I'm already in the ship finding ethan. Havent died once yet. Ran out of ammo yes. Used my knife to compensate. yes...
Yeah that fight would probably turn away a few people. The rest of the game never requires you to make headshots that many times though, except for perhaps bossfights but then you've got more guns/ammo.
I almost raged quit but I was like let me not miss a shot then see what happens. Bam she died and I was like gg. But at the end of the game with those 2 fat fuckers, I raged quit I didn't have any remote bombs or grenade launchers since I wasted it all. But now I know exactly what stuff kills what enemy so I should be fine now.
Took me 4 tries. Mia is a mean little bitch.

I wish more games would follow this way of difficulty settings. It’s not a simple artificial increase in the difficulty, but it also increases the replay value. If every degree of difficulty had its only litle set of changes in details, just like Madhouse, then a game could easily be replayed 3-4 times; depending on the amount of degrees.

It's Impossible in VR, i just got trough the garage fight by making him crash into the beams (17th attempt), and then the fucka just appeared upstairs before I even reached the bathroom, he got me and my last save was *BEFORE THE FIGHT*
(you should have also mentioned that you need cassette tapes for saving)
toustík I would have though it was easier in VR? I haven't played Madhouse yet, just a Normal VR playthrough and an Easy playthrough on the TV, but aiming and finding items I found easier in VR.
Aiming is easier, but finding items can be harder if you're lazy to move around every single room you're in (and i'm really lazy). i also turned off the "button prompts above items" so it's more realistic, but the items are harder to find

I remember when I first played RE7, I played it on easy mode and was like “Wow, this was so fun!” Then I tried madhouse mode. This was before I played games on a difficulty above normal… lets just say that I gave up on that and didn’t try again until after re8 came out years later. I did complete it though!

Beating the game on madhouse was honestly so satisfying. It was frustrating at times but if you have the time and patience I’d recommend it! Was good to see the differences again, was good to remember
I would cry lmao. I already had such a hard time with some of the bossfights on normal mode. It got easier as I got further into the game but the one with the chainsaw really gave me a hard time. It made me want t quit lol. Every time I thought I had it he just stood up AGAIN.
So basically playing it's on the madhouse difficulty. It is the best way to play The game. It gives you more of a feeling that someone is after you and any monster can pop out at any minute

Don't forget about the 2 fat guy part at the end where they outrun you and can almost jump across the arena and then you're like ooh I'll take the ladder... but wait! There are 3 booby traps so you gotta shoot them while avoiding the fat guys. It was at the end and omg the hardest part of the game because even with my defense coin, they were 2 hit kills. I made it through with sheer luck and I never wanna do that part again. I cleared Alien on nightmare difficulty and I don't think it even held a candle to this game. Madhouse is no joke.

Alejandro perez lugo you just gotta keep trying. I was all out of grenade launcher ammo at that part. What I did was quickly take out the booby traps with my machine gun. Then I laid down some remote bombs and used them to trip up the fat guys (try to get them in the same area). Then I quickly ran up the ladder. Didn't kill them but I was able to escape. I got lucky as heck, but it is doable.
only got 2 remote bombs when I was able to pass the first fat guy the other 2 were right there in front of me I was like really niga really jaja
+Alejandro perez lugo I didn't even really worry with the first one. Just shoot him til he stumbles and run around him. I didn't have much ammo at all by that whole gauntlet run so I had to kill only when necessary.
Kinda disappointing how on Madhouse there is no molded inside the morgue when you open it up.

it's really anti-climactic when you open it up, then you realize he was already outside and you just broke into his house.
Vampires Crypt actually, I'm impressed by that. Normally people who had been playing it once will expect the mold in there. Actually the developers were intentionally trying to make that feeling of disappointment from that, hoping the players take their guard off for what await them in the corner.

Christopher Henshaw dude i had the same problem last night, the marguerite fight was almost impossible . I played from 1 am to 5 am trying to fight her and i gave up, then The next day, took my another two hours to fight her and I finally did though it was hell.
Christopher Henshaw circular saw is the answer. And stay on bottom floor and get into the room with one hole on the top. And you will have a easier time

This is where I got killed and completely never went back to the game. I was running for the save room as I knew it was a save room as I played on normal.
Was thinking I will finally do my madhouse run after playing RE8 this weekend.

Stuff like Jack’s placement and the caged keys really caught me by surprise
To be honest - madhouse was really easy for me. I hardly saved and didn't waste any ammo on enemies you can avoid. In the end I had tons of ammo and about 15 tapes. But (!) the beginning... fuck that has been hard. Jack fucked the hell out of me. I didn't save after the garage and ran through the house because I thought Jack isn't there yet. Well fuck me right? I've been in the entrance hall and was thinking about which cage I will open and then Jack opens the door and comes in. No chance to escape. He fucked me right there on the table. And he really enjoyed it - but I didn't. Especially when I realized that I have to do the garage again...

I don't think many people know this, but in the area about 5:00 (forgot the name), you can actually wait out the Molded outside the door, just close the door and wait for them to dissolve, and you never have to worry about them again.

I've started madhouse mode and it is rock solid difficult. Died dozens of times already and am just past the garage part. As well as being much more deadly you need cassette tapes (think type writer ribbons) to allow you to save your "progress". Hats off to anyone who completes this brutal difficulty.

Jack walks like he's a professional speed walker in madhouse, you can't even sprint away from him sometimes, he will grab you and flip you around and bitch slap you a few times with his shovel for trying. He's definitely a bullet waster in madhouse..
What i got from this was, Play it on Normal. Easy is l...well, easy but Normal is perfect. Jack is more intimidating when he's slow, and when you play madhouse it's just "OH FUCK! SHIT! WHAT DO I DO?" As you empty your bullets aiming for his head and you miss like 67% of the shots. you don't have to waste coins, you don't have to waste all of your ammo, it's good for a first playthrough.
Another good tip is don't use the lockpick on the garage box for the car keys. Attack Jack with witb the knife immediately and run when he turns his attention to you. Circle around the car letting Jack take his 2 swings and one crushing blow, then knife him and run away.
Repeat until he gets in the car and then stay close to Jack near the driver's door as he circles. Knife him constantly just don't leave that spot right where the car door was before he ripped it off. It is actually easy once you get his timing down and use this method. It also helps with future close combat with Jack as flat out running away can be hard as he is super fast. Take a few pot shots between his attempts to hit you and get by him and turn often.
Doors can slow you down when he is right behind you so hit them hard and fast while hitting x to open PS4

RE7 is aging beautifully. I was a bit shocked to see it has already been 7 years.
I can see why most of you guys are a bit salty towards madhouse. It truly is a nightmare to beat. I was smart however and before I even attempted it, and I advise you guys as well. I recommend getting everything else, such as the Albert pistol, secrets and essence of defense, walking shoes, x-ray glasses, and the circular saw. It makes the game much easier. After I beat it like that I however, wanted a challenge and went through and beat it without using the extras and it was very much harder. Thus get the extra items that will help and know where all the hidden secrets are, including both repair kits, the stabilizer, and the steroids.

I found ducking jack’s attacks in the very early parts of the game to be a big thing I utilized. Just the fact that you can even dodge those attacks is a life saver.

I played this on easy once just to take my time on everything. But Jack does follow you from the hallways into the main hall. I literally got jumped scare on easy mode because Jack burst through the doors while I was reloading. I thought I was safe.

I did some studying a lot of studying and here’s the key difference that can you a advantage or disadvantage depending on your play style.
Madhouse:
- Enemies are tougher and faster but takes bonus damage when hit in head or weak points.
- items are hard to find and enemies are smarter and there’s a 2% a mold can teleport in a room with you if the door is cracked an inch
Your stating the obvious, shouldn't take a lot of studying to know that headshots deal increases damage
