My pastor did a whole month series during Sunday school on how to be a welcoming church and what to do before, during, and after the service. It was so, so good and helpful!

We were out walking yesterday and saw a caucasian family biking and I was like "white people!", ha, it's rare to see here! I can't imagine how many diaper boxes you go through, they are great for moving for sure!
I agree with you on wanting to be greeted and feel welcomed in a new church. That's usually the first sign for me in deciding if it might be a church I come back to or not. I'll be continuing to pray for you and your family.
The experience living with multiculturalism in a significant way is a bubble-bursting moment, the equivalent of a out of water scenario. Well, you learn something new everydayThat's why it's good to travel, see the world through different lenses. You're handling it well. Nothing to worry about
Yes, I love traveling for this reason! But it is definitely different being the minority when traveling than where you live. It's great though, I always wanted to be a missionary overseas and this feels like I'm getting a chance to do that.
Diaper boxes are the best for moving books! 😂 Strong, but small enough not to get too heavy with books. Prayers for your family, especially in the fostering situation. We foster as well, and I felt it to my core when you say a decision might be made soon... or within a year. 💔 Everyone has to be in limbo for an indefinite amount of time. But like you said, it's all in His hands.
I was excited to see your update! Welcome to Edmonton - the exploding city! But seriously, you’re right, the growth is insane. My family drives from Sherwood Park all the way to the western outskirts of Edmonton to attend our church and there are so many houses being built! The landscape changes weekly.
I don't like to be greeted day one in church but if it's challenging to find a chair or the bulletin maybe help with that. I think it's good to research how to interact with anxious people in church as that tends to mean being ignored or treated as a guest forever. Anxious people already feel like outsiders so not pointig out they are the new person helps. Isn't is all complex! I am sure you all do a great job on the whole thing. That is just something that came to my mind.

But we are not nearly at that spot yet so I'm sure God will open up some kind of door when we are.

Ugh, fostering and their timing, so frustrating! It's definitely been a growing experience.
