That is a fun looking ride. I always enjoy seeing water on rides in AZ. I agree, I try to avoid sand whenever possible. Keep the videos coming!

Thank you for the comment. It wasn’t a great ride, but we had some fun. There are some trails SE of there that we thought about doing. They’re a little steeper and some are almost black diamond rated. But definitely more fun. We were just so whooped from our Bearfoot ride that we just wanted an easy pedal. There’s definitely some offshoots that we would like to go back and investigate.

Your rides seem to always have big rocks and sand…. and I keep thinking 27.5+ wheels and tires would make things so much more fun. Great scenery. Thanks for posting.

I thought about going 27.5, but decided on 29 based on advice from multiple advanced riders.
I road 26 up til almost two years ago. Climbing had me always trying to catch up with the 29ers, but I could out corner most on the downhill. I’ll have to take a ride on a 27.5 to see what it’s all about.

@@azmountainbikingadventures2781 Not just 27.5, but 27.5+ tires aka 650b+ tires. I run both 29 x 2.4 and 27.5 x 2.8 on the same bike. 29 is great for high speed straight line riding and covering big distances, but 27.5+ gives huge float and lower tire pressures (like 16 psi) to roll over rough stuff, and float over and through sandy stuff (while sacrificing some top speed). The tool has to match the task. Happy trails.

Have you ridden at Gold Canyon in Mesa? Know of any group rides coming up? I am new to Arizona and am unfamiliar with trails out here.

Yes we have ridden Gold Canyon. In fact we have a video of a ride from this last spring. I don’t know of any group rides. That’s not something we do. However, you might check with some of the bike shops in your area. Someone usually has a line on group rides in the local area.
We created this channel to help people like you find trails around the valley and state. Our videos will give you a good idea of what each trail is like and what to expect from the terrain. So far, our favorite trail systems are Browns Ranch (Granite Mountain) in NE Scottsdale, Hawes NE of Mesa, South Mountain -South Phoenix, and Sedona AZ. Sedona has some world renowned trails there. But it might be a bit cold this time of year.
