That's when I thought about GRRM, the pressure to deliver and then the response from the public is on levels none of us will ever understand. I just wish he's happy on what he's doing and I've already accepted we are never getting A Dream of Spring

That's literally what the author James Patterson told George RR Martin months ago. George said that "I Have 1,200 pages finished and still have 500 pages to go". And James Patterson said, dude, it's been over 12 years, if it's taking so long to write those last 500 pages then split the book you have now into 2, and the books will still be the same length as the rest of the books in series and the fans will be happy they don't have to wait and then the fan will get another book in 1 or 2 years and be even happier than before. It is a win win.
The author then went on to say, that is probably your best option George, and I mean think about it practically a 1,700 page book is barely even physically possible anyway, that is just way too big, so you have 2 choices to either cut down the story OR you can split the book into 2 and the books would still be just as long as the rest of the series and the fans would be happy and then the fans would be even happier when they get anothed book again after 1 or 2 years which will give them more hope about a dream of spring.

I had the theory that two books is not enough to end the story as he originally planned: 1/3 starks vs lannister, 2/3 the war of the dragons, 3/3 the war with the others. The original plan has changed for sure but it seems George want to write at least two books together. it would be a great solution to publish aWoW asap and a second part in few years (i mean 2 or less). He even had a great title: a time for wolves.

At least give us a 900 page book and then go for another approximately 900 page book. But he keeps saying "This is the biggest book of them all." And seems so proud of it. Like he almost can't release it in 2 parts. It wouldn't be his biggest book ever.
He asked Stephen King how he wrote a book so fast. He told him I sit down and I write a hundred pages a day. (He'd be done in 5 days.) Hence how Stephen cranks them out. If George did that he would have been done 10 years ago. Same with A Dream of Spring.
At this point is the book going to be so long it's cutting into ADOS? Or will it be like movies that are too long and could have been 30 min shorter?

I love George but as time goes on, you can tell he's got into his own head. What the fans, critics, agents, studio heads, publishers, etc.. What they want, what they expect to happen, the build up and hype and the *expectations* surrounding his masterpiece. And that statement in itself is part of that, we see ASOIAF as a masterpiece and George wants to live up to that expectation. Factor in the explosion of popularity and fanfare since "Game of Thrones" and the show itself also plays into how he writes.
It's a mixture of a LOT of things and George is probably at his wits end. I personally believe that *we will see The Winds of Winter* be released, but not for a long time. And I honestly don't believe that ASOIAF will ever be finished. I believe The Show had essentially gutted his passion for his books, as the show was the peak of television and the most popular show since Breaking Bad and The Sopranos. Literally millions of millions of people watched the show, so reading a book and having it go an entirely different way, it'll be a shell-shock.
And let's be honest, the man is 74. Even if his passion was at its fullest, his age will slow him down on his writing. If it takes another 2-4 years for The Winds of Winter, he'll be 76-78. Then if it takes another 2-10 years? You never know with George R. R. Martin.

If he needs 10 or more years he would be well into his 90’s by then. As someone who works with the elderly I have watched seemingly healthy octogenarians just suddenly decline and mentally fit 85 year olds develop dementia just 2 years later If Martin is already struggling to keep track of all the strands of the story and the large cast of characters it will be even more difficult for him as time goes on. Seems far off, but we'll be reading the next one before we know it."
It's now 2023. That was twelve years ago, me and my friend sitting in that dingy apartment. He was correct, we both married our girlfriends; he had a ten year marriage with his and divorced. I'm a father now, our own homes, completely different lives. Had The Winds of Winter released in 2015, when the deadline was, he and I would have still been close and would have read it together. My philosophy behind authors releasing books is that every release is a luxury. We want the 6th book so badly because of how amazing the first five were. We could have lived in a time where those five books never existed. These authors don't owe me anything. I'm grateful for the time I've had in the worlds they've built. I'm not going to tell wizards how wizarding needs to be done or how fast they need to move. Wizards arrive precisely when they mean to.

If there's one good thing that hopefully comes outta the ongoing Writers & Actors Strike, it will hopefully be George finally finishing the dam Book #6.
George has no excuses this time around as he himself recently revealed that all of his HBO projects like the in development Egg & Dunk show have been postponed because of the strike & the strike is expected to last a long time. Season #2 of House of The Dragon thankfully wrapped up filming before the strike began but Season #3 ain't starting production anytime soon also because of the strike. Thanks to the strike, George now officially has a ton of free time that he previously didn't have before because he was always extremely busy & focused on all his HBO committments so now is the time that he should be taking full advantage of the situation that has just presented itself to him & proceed to sit down in front of his computer to finally finish The Winds of Winter and get it ready for a 2024 launch.
Heck I'm praying big-time that the real reason that George has been taking 12 frickin' years to write The Winds of Winter is because he is in fact writing both Winds of Winter AND A Dream of Spring back to back.
Finish the dam story now George.

    I have this small idea..
With how GOT blew up, it rushed GRRM out of how he had done everything up until that point.
Pushing him out of how we normally wrote. Meaning his work suffered ( With taking longer, not how good it was )
And then all the question, and people saying he will never finish, how he would die long before he ever finished. Every forum about GOT and A song of Ice and Fire, would be about the book he could not finish.
And I think it annoyed him like hell. And I could see with how he thinks, and how he view things ( At least how I understand him, with my limited understanding )
I have this idea Winds of Winter is pretty much done. Have been for some time. No doubt it was delayed, and he have rewritten alot. But I do think he might have finished it around 2020 mark.
He might still do a little this or that. But I just have this idea he is not gonna release it in spite. " So people say it wont be done before I am dead, tss " So now the books will be finished, and ready. And then when he dies hopefully far in the future, or people stop hawking him about it. It will be realsed. Including the Spring book after Winds of Winter. I do think they are sort of ready, and have been for some time.
And also. No sane person, who cares about story telling will ever thing the Tv shows ending will be the better.
Drones who watch Transformers 57 and think its amazing, and cant wait for the new Spiderman with the 11 actor making his 4th film about the same topic the 10 actors before him did. Those people might like the badly written and unconnected story those two Hollywood writers blended together. Because they dont care about lore, or the story or how its connected, they just want to see a sword and a dragon, it does not need to make sense to that group. But that is not really what A song of Ice and Fire is. its lore, and story telling and connections througout a world that all lead to the same crossroad.

A Dream of Spring will not be as complex and important to the story as Winds of Winter. It will most likely serve as one big ending to all the characters in the series. Therefore I believe that he will be able to write it faster than the current book. He will be focusing mostly on wrapping up the story as a whole then maneuvering through complex story and character arcs in the next book after Winds of Winter. It took 17 years for JRR Tolkien to write the whole of Lord of the Rings and that isn’t even half as complex as A Song of Ice and Fire. George RR Martin has given every indication that he intends to finish the series and just like other fantasy writers before him I believe that he has the ability to make it happen in the next few years.

If this book is so huge why doesn't he split it up into 2 parts , if he did that they could release the first part and then it would give him more time to finish part 2

He'll never finish it, he's ticked because fans are pushing him. Thumbing his nose at us. It will be finished after he's dead by someone else

I highly doubt someone else finishes it if he croaks. He’s said in the past he might pull a Robert Jordan

Around 13:50 he says Areo Hotah wasn’t on the show but I thought we saw him briefly as the Dornish king’s bodyguard. He was a big guy, AfroBritish or African American actor. I could’ve sworn that was him.

I have a super unrealistic dream. That hes gonna surprise us all and release the 6th and 7th books at the same time and has been working on em simultaneously the whole time. He'll be like "got'cha" lol.

I think there is no rush finishing these books when he makes more helping write these HBO shows, so until that well drys up its not going to be done. If HBO stops making shows based off what he has written or calls him about a show, guaranteed less then a year...Winds is out
