my late fatherwas born in Preston in 1929. he told me his dad took him to deepdale at Preston North End for the first time as a child and he sat on his Dad's shoulders as we all used to. i asked him who they played, he said Everton and Dixie Dean was playing. i envy my Dad seeing that. i have supported Everton since moving to Merseyside in 1967 and haven't missed many matches since. i still go and my sister goes ..we love EVERTON FOOTBALL CLUB.
well said my friend, there is something about Everton that i find enchanting, i was 7 years of age when by off chance i bought football monthly and there by chance was aman called Colin Harvey who totally blew me away in that magical Blue shirt, i have been to every corner of this country supporting the team that i love, and always will, and i know how you feel
Terricic tribute to a Hero of Birkenhead, Dean started off at Pensby Boys, center forward with the ball in the photo. Tranmere signed him for two memorable seasons before Bill Dean signed for Everton and became the Legend he remains. The first to wear the number 9 shirt in the 1933 FA Cup final. A little known fact is Dean played for Tranmere again - during the second world war, when football was regionalised. The Leagues as we know them resuming in 1945-46 season. From a Tranmere fan who was at the famous Arsenal away cup win in 1973, this is a Wonderful song. Well Done Mr Murphy. Up there with 'The Ballad of Romeo & Juliet' on an early LFC album ('She was a Catterick Maverick through and through while he followed Bill Shankleys team' - 'and on the midnight ferry they crossed over, now they're both supporting Tranmere Rovers'. They don't write them like that anymore). Again Well Done - an Excellent presentation.
My Dad loved you Dixie.... He delivered meat to your house and met you .. Stood and watched you from the boys pen... Wished I'd have seen you... God bless you !
Thanks for this, im 67 yrs old and an everton fan my whole life, been in Australia since 1982, i cant thank you enough for this flash back in time. You have made my Christmas.
My friend Paul M. went to Brisbane around twelve years ago, I sent a stick out with loads of EFC historical stuff on, this included. Try the history of the Toffees and the old 'lock Up - the building on the shirt, really interesting too - a couple of items on UA-cam you should look up. From A Tranmere Supporter.

60 goals in 1 season 92 in 1 year if you count friendlies and other cup games... .truely one of the 🐐s....could od been the best if he did not get injured
Dixie's 60 beat Camsells 59 for Boro in div 2 the season before and he only played 39 games over 90 mins with a ball laced and like a medison ball. PURE CLASS. Halland + players today play over 100 mins now and aren't allowed to get tackled any more plus Dixie survived a major motorcycle accident and continued his career.
TERRIFIC TUNE AND LYRICS. I'm in pieces with emotion. If anyone needed an excuse for being an Evertonian, look no further!!! William Ralph Dean ."HEAD AND SHOULDERS above the rest."

Dixie Dean of Everton, the greatest ever goal-scoring centre-forward in the English League football.
Played during an era when the game was played for the fans and not corporate greed. The greatest of them all throughout the ages.
Everton's all time no 9 you never see that again
