I just love Colbourne's character he executed it with so much ease , full of mystery and romance. He showed love from the beginning but it was only fear of being hurt kept him back.
I whole heartedly agree 100% a wonderful character, and easy to fall in love with, especially as the layers are pulled back and we learn more about his past 💗

Where would the storyline have gone if Col Lennox had not said what he did to Colbourne in the tent? Ever since Lady Denham said Lennox had a rivalry with Colbourne, it seemed to me Lennox carefully observed and calculated his moves when it came to Colbourne.. His comment about Bonaparte being an excellent strategist for me was how Lennox was conducting to conquer and win. He struck at vulnerability - however totally missed the mark w/ Charlotte.
I think you are right- Col. Lennox was playing to win. Although I do also think he did like Charlotte before he knew Colbourne was in the picture. But based on his words and actions in the balcony scene, I think he thought of Charlotte as a game to win as well. He thought she was playing hard to get, and wanted to “win” her. And if that meant a few low blows at Colbourne and a shady backstory to feed Charlotte, so be it. If Col. Lennox had’t intervened, that morning breakfast scene would have turned out entirely different in my mind! 💙🎩👒💙

I think it does. However, Augusta at that time was angry and grieving her circumstances. Not long orphaned and far from her original home I suspect (London?). Her stay at Bath and out in society helped her towards her next rite of passage. Growing up is painful at time.
Are we ever truly hurt by people that we don't love? I think Charlotte and Mr. Colbourne have a little more growing to do, but once they are truthful about their feelings, desires, past and hurts, they will be able to heal more fully, and become a stronger and happier couple. True love means you are both willing to work through the hard stuff and come out the other side even more intertwined than before. I am looking forward to seeing their Happily Ever After
Indeed 😂 well… she HAS been pretty sheltered for a while, and as Lady Denham described him: “very pleasing to the young ladies” … and good at “smirking and paying girls compliments, but he has to marry money.” And in assuming Augusta probably has money from her parents that he is after, so of course he will bestow on her all kinds of positive attention, flirting, witty banter, etc. if her fortune is his goal. And August, never having received such attentions before, and not able to see his true character will be head over heels.
I think he truly felt something close to love for Augusta, otherwise he would have 'ruined' her as quickly as he possibly could have. I also think he probably realized he was too much older and worldly for her and that she still had some living to do. In the end, he was honorable, even though it broke Augusta's heart.
Maybe they do, maybe they don't. If I were an actor, I would want to pursue projects that interested me, not just the ones other people wanted me to. In this instance, I could not be happier about the way this storyline continued, Charlotte's arc and her HEA are beautiful. Season 2 & 3 have been a tremendous blessing and joy to watch.
