so you got confused twice in this episode by some generic metroidvania mechanic: i'll call it the "shortcut back to the entrance". it's a form of level design where, if you enter an enclosed area (for example the one where you found Joni), you'll encounter two paths: 1) a path with platforming and/or enemies 2) a one-way path that leads to where you currently are in this scenario, you almost always take the platforming/fighting route, reach some point where you gain a reward (ability, charm, life/soul upgrade, etc..), then come back through the shortcut to exit the area and avoid having to take the previous path. And, in the case of abilities, sometimes the platforming/fighting route will also be a one way path, to force you to use the gained ability to cross the shortcut (i.e. to teach you how it works, remember the dash that forced you to cross a small puddle of acidic water) so my point is, don't confuse yourself and worry about one-way paths where you're on the wrong side, they're there for a reason and you'll just have to use another path to cross :p
also, your series made me want to replay the game again, so i did, and going through it all made me realize just how much content you have still yet to encounter! which means many more episodes to watch!! (i'd say AT LEAST 20 more, if i'm being optimistic) carry on with your awesome playthrough, and keep losing yourself in the beaty of hallownest
I was about to comment about this and saw you already did! I was gonna say it's interesting how Oliver recognizes a lot of gameplay elements that many others wouldn't think about or at least verbalize, but (probably due on lack of experience) can't tell when a path is a pretty obvious shortcut back to the entrance
I have to reiterate, this is probably the most competent blind playthrough I've seen, between mechanical understanding, lore understanding, and technical skills (movement, combat, etc.) I'm sure you're glad to have skilled up so much in gaming, it's definitely useful for entertaining the likes of us at least! 😂
@@AboutOliver Also, R1 (or whatever right bumper is, I don't know PlayStation controllers very well) is quick-cast. I don't know why they never tell you this in-game. Seriously, nowhere in the actual gameplay do they ever say it. They only show it on the controller layout in the options menu. So, I don't really consider this a spoiler. Quickcast launches spells as soon as the button is pressed, as opposed to using circle (B on XBOX controller), which launches it when the button is released. You may not feel much of a difference, but for me it made the whole spell system feel much more responsive.

I finally made it. It's the first time I'm watching the most recent episode. 31:33 "Wait, how come I couldn't do this last time?" You didn't have wall jump yet when you first went there. It's been 15 episodes since you got the skill you needed to do that. This really was an episode full of finishing off stuff you found long ago, but couldn't do yet. The 2 places you couldn't go to in Greenpath ages ago. The Gorb statue and corpse of a large bug in the Howling Cliffs, both of which you had correctly predicted would have something happen later. And you found what the rancid eggs are both.
Glad you stoked the fire! My first playthrough I hit the bug with the dream nail and didn’t know what to do with the firepit haha. Never figured it out until I watched some videos about the game and realized the sheer amount of stuff I missed.

99% sure there wasn't a One-Eyed man in Outer Wilds (I haven't watched the Obra Dinn series but I could see how both of those are plausibly present). There was one Eye though.
@@lucasriddle3431 Episode 52: One-Eyed Man (episode name) ua-cam.com/video/K_bLOXsRHac/v-deo.html The source is from several episodes ago, upon discovering a certian "glitch in the system" that involves placing an item down (you know what I mean), where he stated: "in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king" (a famous proverb). If you know the game you probably understand the context.
There is a mod called OrbTracker that gives you an arrow to nearest orb. Once you finish the game / got all the achievements you care about, and you still feel like playing, there is a few mods that also make this game a lot more replayable (Randomizer 4 for example. Even if just for yourself and not for videos, I would still recommend looking at it, really fun mod.) Hallownest Vocalized is voice acting for everything, in really professional quality. Some really good stuff out there by the community.
Alternatively, without mods, you can leave the area, come back, and whack the tree again. Only the unclaimed orbs will fly out and you'll see exactly in which direction they are.

Excellent episode as always. New abilities, new damage numbers! I'll put them below "read more", but again, this information is not available in-game so I wouldn't really consider it a spoiler Shade soul has a base damage of 30, 40 with shaman stone Great slash has a damage of 2.5 times a regular nail strike. It is not affected by strength. My comment from episode 21 has all the damage numbers for the other abilities you've unlocked.
I wonder if there's anything on the other side of the Lake of Unn now that you have the Crystal flying ability thingy. It wasnt exactly clear if there was anything beyond the platform but its far too tempting to yeet yourself into the unknown with that.
So Oliver, while i've been waiting for bloodbourne uploads I decided to watch your HK playthrough *and* play HK for the first time. Honestly? I suck. This kind of fast reaction combat has never been my skill. I cant believe how seemingly effortless your boss fights are (on account of your skill, I mean) especially when I can barely make the run back to the boss room after dying.
