Eid Mubarak Observance and Celebration at Ajmer Dargah Sharif
Ajmer, June 18, 2024 - In a joyous observance of Eid al-Adha, the sacred Ajmer Dargah Sharif resonated with the spirit of unity, peace, and harmony. This year’s celebrations, with prayers of happiness and success across our blessed nation India and the world at large by Haji Syed Salman Chishty, Gaddi Nashin of Dargah Ajmer Sharif and Chairman of the Chishty Foundation, are graced by the presence of Prof. Michael Calabria from the University of Bonaventure, New York, USA.
In the serene and spiritually charged environment of Ajmer Dargah Sharif, devotees and visitors from all walks of life and diverse backgrounds come together to celebrate Eid. This sacred gathering stands as a testament to the timeless message of "Unity in Diversity," which has been the foundation of Ajmer Sharif for over 800 years.
Haji Syed Salman Chishty emphasized the profound teachings of the Chishty Sufi Order, encapsulating the essence of Eid in his message:
“In the words of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, ‘Love towards all, malice towards none,’ we are reminded of the importance of love, compassion, and humility. Eid is a time to sacrifice our egos and negative emotions, to embrace each other with open hearts, and to seek harmony and peace.”
The celebrations began with special prayers of Eid Namaz and the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by heartfelt Zikr, invoking divine blessings for peace, success, and the well-being of our nation. The Dargah Sharif resounded with prayers for the oneness and happiness of all humanity.
Prof. Michael Calabria shared his reflections on the unique spiritual ambiance of Ajmer Sharif:
“The great Unity in Diversity of India is cherished here at Ajmer Dargah Sharif, where for centuries, people of all faiths and backgrounds have felt at home and at peace. This sanctuary of spiritual solace and universal love is a living symbol of the oneness that we all share.”
As the day progressed, attendees participated in communal vegetarian meals (sufi langar) and engaged in uplifting conversations, further strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and unity. The message of Eid at Ajmer Sharif transcends religious and cultural boundaries, celebrating the universal values of love, peace, and humanity.
Haji Syed Salman Chishty concluded the observance with a prayer for global peace and unity:
“May Allah bless us all with the strength to overcome our differences, to live in harmony, and to work towards the betterment of our society. Let us continue to uphold the spirit of oneness and happiness, and may the divine light of Ajmer Sharif guide us all.”
The celebrations at Ajmer Dargah Sharif this Eid al-Adha serve as a beacon of hope and a reminder of the enduring power of unity, compassion, and love in our world.
    Eid Mubarak!
