No bullshit chatter just quality work. Bravo 👍👍👍
In France! We have a similar car of years 50' which is called Ford Vedette (rolling model with a small V8 Ford Lateral of 80 hp) This Ford Vedette came out of the Factories Ford de Poissy, the City of the King Saint-Louis who died at the crusades in the 13th century. It is west of Paris...
It looks a lot like the Ford Mercury. The work done is simply magnificent. It’s very informative. Thank you very much, my American friend.
Otherwise, I love the Nascar and especially the Race Car 50/60 like the Ford Falcon...
Best regards! A little French Man in Normandy country of D-Day 44
EP1: The unforgivable Sin.
Sorry I owned a 51 and let it go. Messed up big time. A dual piped rumble never to be forgotten.
I love her still.
Yes, I’ve had to of them and I am considering letting my 40 go to get another one. Definitely the all-time favorite.
Such a pleasure to watch, the skill is awesome, thankyou for videoing and sharing! 👍🎄
Awesome work.
Very Impressed you got that glass out in one piece!
You turned a super jewel into a ….I don’t know!!! I could understand a regular four door but a suicide four door!!! Either boredom or drugs got the best of you!!! Sorry for the judgement but I was totally shocked in the first few seconds!!!
Niiiiice - beautiful car, great skills, great method - gonna be a killer!
Terrific!
Armor all works great for window rubber! But if’s petrified you’re on your own Good luck man!
"That's a perfectly good car"... was the first thing I thought. Cool and ambitious project. Looking forward to seeing you pull it off.
Also, subscribed.
Nice cruiser to begin with......why butcher it? Aren't there enough chopped Mercs around already????
It’s his car he can do wtf he wants to do to it ! Why start out with a pos to start with if you got a clean car to customize. A lot less body work in the end. That’s what I’m talking about . Going to one badass chop top . Cut away young man
I have a 49 merc (my dream car since I saw it in cobra at age 5) 4 door that I'm about to tear into so I'm excited to try and learn what I can from this video. Definitely want it chopped so this should be helpful. planning to swap the merc body over to a dropped s10 frame first and then ill get into the bodywork.
An early to mid seventies GM midsize car makes a good chassis swap for Mercs, I read about it in a hot rod magazine.
I just subscribed to your channel, im giving my shoebox that look..
My boyfriend says theres a rule with 1950's Mercs...if it aint chopped it aint s#*t....
And hes 100% right....
Thank you for making this video. I am going to chop the top on an 89 Bronco. Could you please suggest when it is best to use a sawzall, body saw, cutdoff wheel, or portable bandsaw in this operation? Your thoughts would be most greatly appreciated.
89 bronco? Interesting. An air saw and small cut off wheel would be preferred for most cuts. The more precise you are the easier it goes back. I would only use a sawsaw for quick work of getting things out of the way. Then clean it all up with a cut off
I don't understand why you want to create yet another 2 door custom Merc. I'm trying to rebuild a 4 door here in the UK and it's a hell of a job getting info and parts for a 4 doors especially the chassis. HarryMcleod
Are you building a 4 door custom? Id like to see,im UK too building a 1950 shoebox. Drop me a follow for videos
Broke my heart to see him do that
the car was perfect and the 4 door look was so gangster. He does great work.
because when it comes to mercs, if it aint chopped (4" or more...) It aint s#*t.....
I never Liked fords, I have owned some nice ones , 69 mach 1 / 65 galaxy convertible/ SHO Taurus, But I always loved the ford Mercury love the Grill, Making that a 2 door, Best thing you could do for its value.and Looks, Good Luck God Bless

That a Y block under that shelf? What ya gonna do with that?
Just found your channel. Love the work you're doing. Question...would a heat gun soften the rear window rubber?
@@Theoldironworkshop i am following you from 🇨🇦 #YSW you are really doing an amazing work
Hello Ironies. Nice work, but i'd rather had kept it like it was.
Wauw suiside doors
Greath already

Personally, thinking about doing another Mercury. But keeping it a four-door, possibly as a hard top.
Curious, would not a cutting torch be more efficient than a grinder to cut?
Minimum amount of heat to prevent warping the sheetmetal. The cut from a wheel or a blade is perfect for welding.
You just destroyed the modt beautifull car by making a 2 door, and chopping the roof, came on you, seems you have no value of a thing so beautifull, and valuable.
I'd of left it as is
I didn't see too much difference of the look, to be worth the work.
More proof why there's hardly any original, unmolested Mercury's of that vintage left.
Thankfully for you there is no car police or you would receive a life sentence!
Well the name of the show is, “ HOW TO RUIN A PERFECTLY GOOD CAR”.
Why would a man, in Texas from what I hear, a state known for its hats, want to chop a car that is already too low for many hats? I don't know, and don't understand, I'll follow along and see if the madness makes sense at some point.
As they say, why do men climb mountains. No rational reasoning behind it.
@@TheoldironworkshopYes but you would keep your hat on... :D
зачем испортил красивую машину .?.
Another beautiful old classic butchered to create the same old thing. 👎🏻👎🏻
Thumbs down sorry, It was too nice of car and more unique before you turned it into just another chopped Merc. You did an awesome job though, there's that.
However, the video was more about converting from a four-door to a two door than chopping the car, but I needed something to do to keep me busy during Covid
rod and custom did a how to chop a 50 merc in the mid 80's? taught me how to get started i chopped my first 46 chevy coupe i believe i was around 14 man i fked that car up lmao did everything but brace it i learned a whole lot of what not to do which is important in this business😁🤣other than it being lop sided it came out good🤔👀🥴
Love how you attacked the chop in a deliberate and neat manner. Really nice job and thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much! I spent more time planning than actually doing the work.
