    I love spending my Saturday afternoons watching NASCAR races from the 80s and 90s. It feels like diving back into the 90s with the commercials, the music from that era, and the vintage VHS quality. I adore it.

    Once again thank you! I was watching this before work and it was like a time capsule. It was like visiting old friends and sights without the need for a VCA, lol!

    I love the boxy car body's with carburator Plates. Made it almost impossible to pass another car without help from the back draft. The Winston was a event back in the day just like the Busch Clash.

      The only tracks where the restrictor plates were required was Daytona and Talladega.

    I loved it when Bill drove into Dale on the cool off lap letting him know what was up! He let him know right then and there he wasn't going to take that crap going forward and Earnhardt got the message and they never had any dust ups after that.

      Suck it up Bill!!! Be glad you didn’t get wrecked and yet your own son can’t keep from getting hurt....

      That’s how Dale won half his races by knocking people out of the way when he realized he didn’t have the car or the talent to get around anybody.

    It's hard to get used to Keith Jackson's voice calling an auto race. I didn't know he ever anchored NASCAR races. He did a damn good job for doing it so rarely though! He really knew what he was talking about, didn't sound like an outsider at all, and nearly every comment was spot-on and appropriate. I'd take this play by play performance over Ken Squier's any day.

      Thank you!! i get sooo tired of people clamoring and drooling over ken squier... they are just being nostalgic. Not saying ken wasn't absolutely instrumental in the growth of the sport, bc he definitely was.. But man... He was so so damn corny most of the time, and missed a ton of stuff in the play by play department. I definitely agree that id also take Keith Jackson over Squier as well. He definitely did not sound like an outsider! But to me, the play by play kings will always be Bob Jenkins, Mike Joy, and Allan Bestwick.

    Weird that a race car slammed into a pace car behind the wall. Supposedly Cale Yarborough did the same thing with a firetruck in Richmond back in the 70s. They sent Cale a bill for fixing a firetruck.

    Pretty awesome Benny Parsons interviewing Dale after he blew a tire and kissed the wall. You know Dale would have told most to get tf away from him.

      Nothing "stock" about those cars 🤣... not in 88, gen before yes... lol... last year when a guy like elliot so much faster than everyone 🙄.... was going to happen yes 🤣...

      No that stopped in the late 1990's.

    • @joshuabranson74
      @joshuabranson74 Рік тому

      Yeah courting a Darrell waltrip there was nothing stock about these and they would fill them with lead to make weight and would pull a lever during the race to drop all the led shot out during the race to make the car way lighter and run faster they would also use paraffin wax that would eventually melt once the car was on and this would hide the holes they punched into the restrictor plate during pre race inspection. When NASCAR had a rule for fuel capacity only allowed 14 gallon tank They would hide a basket ball in the fuel tank then deflate it after capacity was checked this added five more gallons of fuel to the tank. This era you are seeing here was the era run what you brung and whom ever could cheat the best was the best it was that plane and simple

    I'm sorry but Keith Jackson needed to stick to football game announcing, it's just kinda awkward....listen to 27:07 🤐

      I am surprised to read such a comment and I completely disagree. I was impressed at what a great job Keith did calling this race. I think he was much smoother, more well informed, more natural and even insightful than many full time race broadcasters... such as Ken Squier.

    • @therealeddo
      @therealeddo Рік тому

      @@TonyM132 Squier was bad, but Keith Jackson repeatedly called drivers by the wrong name during this. Saying he was better than Squier isn't saying much...
