I always loved the change you see come over Merry when Boromir is fighting to protect him. Thats when you can see him understanding he can't sit by anymore.
Aníron is supposed to be sung by a high range soprano. Enya did it originally and she is a soprano with some alto range. It didnt quite fit with the alto singing it.
