I’ve only been collecting games for a couple of years now and I’m quickly approaching the limit of my first Kallax. Normal size boxes of Everdell and Tapestry have morphed into big boxes like Dwellings of Everdell, Tamashii and Castles of Burgundy SE 😅 I really don’t want to have that: “I need another Kallax” discussion with my wife but then I also can’t wait to 😂
My main thing is making sure it doesn’t outgrow the space I’ve dedicated to it. But it definitely seems like the longer I do this, the more difficult it is to get rid of games, mainly because the ones that are left are ones I really like! 😁
I appreciate your video! When we (inevitably?) get to the stage of this hobby when we need/want to cull, it is very useful to have specific criteria for games that need to go. A few of my criteria are: 1. I track my games and plays on a spreadsheet. If a game hasn't been played in 3 years it goes. 2. If I rate it 6 or lower, automatically has to go. Any 7 ratings are on my "cull list" and need to be played and justified or they too will go. 3. Too similar to another game I like better, has to go. Everyone can make up their own criteria, but I strongly encourage everyone to have standards similar to these and keep them. I've found culling to be refreshing and freeing, giving more attention to and space for the games I truly love.

It’s a tough thing to balance when there are so many great games out there!
Fancy covers and gimmicks still hook me
Some great tips and tricks here! Culling is so much easier said than done, as your giant collection can attest ;)

I agree! It helps to have some rules in place, although I've been known to bend those now and then. 😄
