The fact that people are MAD at Ajayy for being honest and having the same reaction as I did and other people is interesting. No one is obligated to like everything and as a Beyoncé Stan this album caught my very off guard and because it wasn’t what I was expecting I was mad but obv it grew on me and I think it’s the best album of that year. For me it wasn't about her not liking. It was about her obvious ignorance towards the genres in the album and calling it just "hiphop". Alson she said she doesn't like the way songs has many different beats but also didn't like Virgo's Groove either? Like make it make sense. I think she just fell of after the first songs and didn't even try to get the album.

Also i'm not very good at differentiating music genres either due to not having a very broad musical taste. But even i could understand it was more than "just hiphop". Fully aware of ballroom culture & I got the album. I just didn’t care for it. Sometimes it felt like her vocals were hidden or the instrumental was too much. A lot of things made it too noisy for me

Ngl I was with Ajay when Renaissance came out. But when I gave it a few listens I ended up liking it and it’s one of my favourite albums that came out last year. I was immediately drawn to virgos groove, alien superstar and America has a problem off the bat.
Same here, I liked cuff it, cozy on the first listened to it but I was still hoping that it would be one of the albums of to win album of the year cause even if I don't like it-I still feel like she always makes good music even if it's not for me. Around December more of the songs grew on me when I tried to listen to the album again. I listened to break my soul last week in the car and I liked it more. When I watched Ajay's reaction, I related it to it some cause that's how I mainly felt when Renaissance came out but I also thought, "I wouldn't mind listening to this album again"

This was literally most ppl’s reaction on their first listen, not me but them. It’s called “Renaissance” so going in I expected nothing but a new sound. I think most just expected another Beyoncé album. Every new listen you heard something new to dissect. That’s why it’s appreciated so much.

Renaissance grew on me. Took me a few listens to really fall in love with this album so I can give her some grace. You have to sit with it, let go of expectations, and listen again with an open mind. It's now one of my favorite albums from her.

I didn’t like renaissance until I listened to it a couple times I think what’s irking me the most about everyone’s reactions to her video is they’re expecting her to do a revisit or they’re just attacking her for her opinions and taste is subjective not everyone is going to like your favorite album or your faves music in general so I think for everyone to expect her to do a revisit video or attack her for having a difference of opinion is really unfair. I agree with all of this except "you shouldn't have watched it to begin with" since the majority of people that did go into the video thinking that she'll like it didn't know beforehand that she wasn't. They couldn't have known, so I can see their frustration as warranted to an extent. But, this doesn't count for the people that knew and still went to her video to shit on her. That's unacceptable.
For me, it was her demeanor.. it wasn't her opinion. There's plenty of people who have shitted on the album and I chalked it up to opinion. But after Break My Soul she didn't give it a chance anymore.. Her whole attitude was dull.. she heard something she liked on track 8. But as soon as she didn't she closed off and didn't even open herself up to listen intently.

She stated she likes it when it works and if she liked it in the past she thought it worked well but that doesn’t mean she has to like it on these tracks. This album (a few songs) is definitely a grower and it’s okay if you got it the first time. People may not like her opinion on the album (me included) but it is her first time listening so it might take her time to really get into it. It took me time to really sit and listen to figure out my favorites. I don’t appreciate her saying Virgo’s Groove was too long like 🤔 majority of artists that are releasing music nowadays songs are only 2 minutes or shorter. Songs should at least be about 4 minutes at least. I believe due to TikTok people’s attention span to songs only last so long. I’m old school I like songs that are longer especially if I love the beat or lyrics. She’s entitled to her opinion but I think it’s only certain types of music she likes but Renaissance was a different experience to a lot. Some people liked it and some didn’t and that’s ok.
i think, as an avid beehive member, this album was designed to be a grower and almost an adventure. this is why the transitions are sooo important! they are gateways to the next songs and because they transition so easily eventually a song you don't like still gets stuck in your head and because your mind has to finish the song to get it out of your mind you have to listen until ,what do you know you like the song and can transition to the next hahahah The CHOCKHOLD it had on the listeners in the beginning was undeniable. i went through the album like a wave, maybe LOVING 6 or & songs and somehow or another i slowly understood and started loving the rest of the album! i love every song now it is absolutely a no skip! and as far as a jay he was clearly paid by somebody to come out with this foolishnes! cause theres no way you don't like alien superstar cuff it virgos groove first listen, its literally music on there for everyone lol

No, my initial listen to Renaissance was almost the same. I still only listen to my 5 fave songs when I’m in a mood to dance and groove. But I DO like the entire album, but to listen to the whole thing, I would need to be in a good mood

I genuinely wholeheartedly agree with this take and I've been following Ajayll for a while I must say I definitely think her taking a break with no new music for a while definitely may have affected the evolution of her ear. I think she may be stuck in a sort of musical limbo of expecting certain sounds from people. I will also say her writing it off as just "HipHop" with how she reacts to pop artists like Taylor, Harry, Ariana ect. gives off certain connotations that bother me. Yeah I simply can’t let it get me out of character. ik where I stand as far as my love for the album and for Beyoncé and it’s enough to allow her to explore a certain level of newness and creativity. Bearing the latter in mind, Bey devoured actually. She bodied a lot of these new sounds and I had to not let my bias for her “usual sound” disallow me from being open minded and rid me potential enjoyment. It’s going to happen with all our favs!

she loved albums like evermore, folklore, Melodrama, Artpop, Reputation, Witness, thank u, next, Future Nostalgia, Joanne,... And none of these are "cute little pop radio hit" albums. These are art, some more lyrically (evermore, folklore), some more sonically (Artpop, Witness, Rep), but still she loved some very artistic pop albums and albums with that are other genre and sound. I think it’s possible that Ajay’s hiatus changed her. What she used to like isn’t doing it for her anymore. It seems like she spiritually evolved beyond what Beyoncé (or artists she usually likes) are offering now. When people separate themselves from things for a while, it changes them. She’s growing beyond who she used to be, most likely.

The fact that people are MAD at Ajayy for being honest and having the same reaction as I did and other people is interesting. No one is obligated to like everything and as a Beyoncé Stan this album caught my very off guard and because it wasn’t what I was expecting I was mad but obv it grew on me and I think it’s the best album of that year. For me it wasn't about her not liking. It was about her obvious ignorance towards the genres in the album and calling it just "hiphop". Also i'm not very good at differentiating music genres either due to not having a very broad musical taste. But even i could understand it was more than "just hiphop". Ngl I was with Ajay when Renaissance came out. But when I gave it a few listens I ended up liking it and it’s one of my favourite albums that came out last year. I was immediately drawn to virgos groove, alien superstar and America has a problem off the bat.

I didn’t like renaissance until I listened to it a couple times I think what’s irking me the most about everyone’s reactions to her video is they’re expecting her to do a revisit or they’re just attacking her for her opinions and taste is subjective not everyone is going to like your favorite album or your faves music in general so I think for everyone to expect her to do a revisit video or attack her for having a difference of opinion is really unfair. I agree with all of this except "you shouldn't have watched it to begin with" since the majority of people that did go into the video thinking that she'll like it didn't know beforehand that she wasn't. They couldn't have known, so I can see their frustration as warranted to an extent. But, this doesn't count for the people that knew and still went to her video to shit on her. That's unacceptable.
For me, it was her demeanor.. it wasn't her opinion. There's plenty of people who have shitted on the album and I chalked it up to opinion. But after Break My Soul she didn't give it a chance anymore.. Her whole attitude was dull.. she heard something she liked on track 8. People may not like her opinion on the album (me included) but it is her first time listening so it might take her time to really get into it. It took me time to really sit and listen to figure out my favorites. I don’t appreciate her saying Virgo’s Groove was too long like 🤔 majority of artists that are releasing music nowadays songs are only 2 minutes or shorter. Songs should at least be about 4 minutes at least. I believe due to TikTok people’s attention span to songs only last so long. I’m old school I like songs that are longer especially if I love the beat or lyrics. She’s entitled to her opinion but I think it’s only certain types of music she likes but Renaissance was a different experience to a lot. Some people liked it and some didn’t and that’s ok.

No, my initial listen to Renaissance was almost the same. I still only listen to my 5 fave songs when I’m in a mood to dance and groove. But I DO like the entire album, but to listen to the whole thing, I would need to be in a good mood

We literally was reacting the same way cause wtf was she hearing. Also Beyonce more than a vocalist. She is an entertainer she is a performer she needs music that inspires her creativity. She is above immediate interpretation. Her inability to connect to the vibe is unfortunate. She wanted rnBeyonce and we was getting house music vogue pop my shit Beyonce. Its art . Come and experience not expect. The story Beyonce painted with this body of work was so captivating. Ego, Imperfection, Vulnerability. @@jacobplays6917 idk what the people watching her vids expect, nor do I think she was lying for clicks and views. As I said her inability to connect is unfortunate. In my opinion it is. It really came across as she was listening with expectation vs experiencing the art.
I genuinely wholeheartedly agree with this take and I've been following Ajayll for a while I must say I definitely think her taking a break with no new music for a while definitely may have affected the evolution of her ear. I think she may be stuck in a sort of musical limbo of expecting certain sounds from people. I will also say her writing it off as just "HipHop" with how she reacts to pop artists like Taylor, Harry, Ariana ect. gives off certain connotations that bother me. I love Ajayll &ppl don't like albums sometimes but it makes me think about her as reactor deeply.
Yeah I simply can’t let it get me out of character. ik where I stand as far as my love for the album and for Beyoncé and it’s enough to allow her to explore a certain level of newness and creativity. Bearing the latter in mind, Bey devoured actually. She bodied a lot of these new sounds and I had to not let my bias for her “usual sound” disallow me from being open minded and rid me potential enjoyment. It’s going to happen with all our favs!

Well, I heard it for the first time a few weeks ago and I didn't like it on my first listens. But it really did grow on me.
i think she's a vibes girl and doesn't appreciate the little things in music. like she'd prefer a cute little pop radio hit rather than a song with different layers and crazy production, vocal arrangements, etc. disappointing that she's missing out on so many amazing elements to this album but oh well. i also think at a point she stopped allowing herself to enjoy it. she didn't even give it a chance.
Ive watched her other videos and she loves plenty of songs with layers and complexity to it. I think she just didnt vibe to it lol. Also she said she'll listen to it again so she'll probably appreciate it more later on

And none of these are "cute little pop radio hit" albums. These are art, some more lyrically (evermore, folklore), some more sonically (Artpop, Witness, Rep), but still she loved some very artistic pop albums and albums with that are other genre and sound.

I think it’s possible that Ajay’s hiatus changed her. What she used to like isn’t doing it for her anymore. It seems like she spiritually evolved beyond what Beyoncé (or artists she usually likes) are offering now. When people separate themselves from things for a while, it changes them. She’s growing beyond who she used to be, most likely.
