I got into my first and hopefully only motorcycle crash Friday night. Suffered a severe concussion, memory loss as a result, dislocated shoulder, lifted collar bone, broken ancle and a ton of road rash. That being said, I appreciate the videos as they are helping keep my mind occupied. Love the videos Block!
JustiBoy hope you recover from your concussion well. I had a a severe brain trauma and something that helped me was getting cranial sacral therapy. Worth looking into .
I understand the reasons for the original exhaust but for me looks like an afterthought by Harley. With the Bassani your bike sounds awesome and looks "finished!" Nice one Blockhead look forward to future vlogs
That bike just looks and sounds so good. Gets my insides all tingly feeling. These videos help regardless of whether or not you end up with the Bassani. I do think they do sound the best though out of the 2 to 1 pipes offered. Hope you and yours are doing well Block, thanks for sharing!
I think it's perfect. Looks and sound. If you like it really loud take the baffle out, but then you lose some of cruisability comfort where u dont always want it to be ringing your ears.
Exhaust and air cleaner look good. I still don't want one, but I don't have to want one to appreciate a nice bike. I will watch no matter what bike you have.
I have the Bissani Road Rage 3 on my Road Glide. Did some extensive engine work and love the exhaust. Great performance and sound. It wails when you get on the throttle. Thank god I don't live in California. Those $1k fines would pile up fast.
I’m glad you’re enjoying the sound of your exhaust man. I’m in California and there’s a new law that just passed where having an exhaust is now illegal. It’s 1000$ fine with no warning or fix it ticket.
Liam Jay please do your research, it’s actually the exact same law that’s been in effect since 2003 with one minor change. The only difference is that you used to have to wait until you went to court to find out what your fine was going to be. Now, the officer writes the amount UP TO $1000 at their discretion before they hand it to you. You can still fight it and get it reduced. Also, if you read the law, you can change your exhaust to anything that you want as long as it still meets emissions standards and noise levels. My brother got a ticket in Corning, Ca for noise on his Acura on the 2nd and just beat it in court yesterday. His exhaust is far from stock but meets emissions and is 1.8 dB under the limit. They tried to get me on that bs in Chico on my 2002 HD Road King while visiting him but I live and the bike is registered in Oregon and meets our standards. Don’t let people scare you with this law unless you have exhaust that’s way too loud, doesn’t meet emissions standards or you’re out there winding out your engine trying to impress someone or racing. In those cases, be very scared, the same way you were before 2019.
Hey Blockhead. The word/name you are looking for regarding the “burble or gargle” when you let off the throttle is called “Risucchio” in Italian (pronounce “ree-suk-kio”) emphazising the K’s). Everyone in Italy praises the “risucchio” in every vehicle. Racing cars (specially Ferrari and Alfa Romeos) have an awesome “risucchio” sound. “Risucchio” means literally “back suction” into the exhaust. Similar to a “Jake brake” sound in an 18 wheeler when they let off the throttle. Call it what you want, but i would definitely coin the word in the motor cycle world as “risucchio”.
I have a Sportglide FLSB, got stage one with Bassani Roadrage , buttery note if you like to be gentle, mean when you get on to it !!!! Love it !!!!!!!!!
Have Bassani on my CVO Pro Street Breakout with a 117 kit "LOVE Them"! Leave the baffles in there is load then there is obnoxious! Great video and great product!
Those pipes look way better than factory. Great sound. That’s the way my Roadking is with the screaming eagle slip in’s, not to loud.... till you want it to be! Really starting to like the FXDR! Thanks for the video!
I have one waiting to go on my 2011 fatboy lo. Wondering if there is a compromise between baffles or none. Maybe hacksaw baffle in half length wise 😳. Kinda being serious thou. 😂
Got a m8 street glide. The stock exhaust is definitely the best I’ve heard. I don’t even feel the need to upgrade like I did why my Dyna. And I disagree about loud pipes save lives. I have a straight piped sr20 s13 and people still don’t here me at 6k rpm under load.
Hey BLOCKHEAD! I'm a new subscriber and loving your content. It's great to watch especially in times when I'm locked into work and can't ride. The new exhaust sounds good and the bike looks great. I gotta say though that the exhaust note on your two previous bikes sounded awesome in your videos and added a certain magic! I'm really enjoying the content either way. Thanks and keep up the good work. :-)
It needs a cam. After I cammed my '18 Slim it was a whole different machine, in sound, performance, and character. The stock M8 cams are so conservative.
I have not been a Harley fan in the past but I really like this bike. (Except the bars). I know a lot of HD guys aren't big on these but I think Harley is doing a good job of making a wide variety of bikes for different tastes. That being said, HDs are over priced!! Does HD jack up their MSRP to make you feel you are getting a good deal when they shave $3000 off?? Or is there not much wiggle room?
I would definitely email Vance & Hines regarding mapping options, as I said before you may get a better air/fuel ratio utilising the map for the V &H Pro Pipe, which is a 2 into 1 like the Bassani, probably better than the generic map, worth contacting them Block. Exhaust sounds great & looks good d too 👍👍😎
I've been to Tampa and Orlando a couple times, why are the roads down there always so shit? There no freeze thaw cycle like up in the north that makes the giant potholes we've got here...
I love the new Softails but I didn't like the FXDR's looks. Just the few mods you've done makes this bike look "right". I'm definitely warming up to it now.
Loud pipes are a LIFE SAVER when lane splitting! I will have cars 20-30 feet ahead of me move over because they hear me coming! Also... Don’t take the baffle out, you’ll loose back pressure and performance.
I feel like thats a big issue with the M8 I love the engine, but they don't respond well to loud pipes. I know if you take the baffle out its louder but i've read countless things on the m8 that they need backpressure like crazy or you lose lots of torque. Have you found this to be true?
hay block i got some bassani on my road star 1600. there a lot louder then what yours sounds like but i know video does not do it justis. there are very nice set of pipes wish i could get the same deal like harley has. theirs is just not the selection for my bike. but they sound very good!!! guess ill just have to be happy with them!
Sound nice. I guess one thing I don't get is that if 2-to-1 is better due to the back pressure, then why do people choose to remove the cats (some say you get better performance without them, but I would think those create more back pressure as well. I'm not being a smart ass. I'd actually really like to hear from those who really know what improves performance...
Great looking bike Block, my SGS is arriving March but worried about warranty issues on non Harley performance upgrades. Does this effect your standard warranty?
So I have the same pipes I would recommend taking the baffle out, removing the fiberglass packing, then reinstall the baffle. That way you dont lose any performance. It's a deeper tone and louder. Also I would do it before you put too many miles on the pipes so the baffle will still come out easily. Without the baffle it sounds crazy loud and it is awesome but then you lose the low end torque. Just my 2 cents. Oh and I scrape pipe before I scrape pegs now... found out the hard way 😭
With the Milwaukee eight you are not going to get that sound you were used to on a twin cam I think a lot of buyers are finding that out after they purchase. As a rider Be prepared to be cut off whether you have loud pipes or not.
Hi blockhead do you have any update on how the FP3 works with the bassani exhaust? configuration? Issues? I am planning to do the same setup. Thanks! Keep up!
Hey Blockhead need some help with a Sportster choice. I currently have a 2004 883 and looking for something newer. My budget is 10k. I like the 883 and 1200 Irons. Which to you handles better on back roads and city traffic? Both bikes look great, But the black AMF tank on the 1200 is killing me. Just worried how the apes affect Handling. Thanks! Doug
hey blockhead! I noticed your bassani road rage is a lot sleeker and cleaner than the other road rage I've seen on other fxdr's. Did bassani redesign the road rage for the fxdr? im talking about the curve by the peg (lines look better)
On video yes it sounds poor I have installed a firebrand loose cannon on my sportster its far loud than stock exshaust😅 it might get me in trouble because of it.
Please take the baffle out. 😁 Need louder. Also, curious if you plan to remove that back plate arm? Imho, it seems to ruin the lines of the rear of the bike. Like I said, just my opinion. Thanks man.
I'm a sportsbike rider thru and thru but this is one HD that I would actually look at buying. Plus I'm 53 so racebikes don't fit me as well anymore. Lol 😅😅
Why so slow? Its 0-100 with 14-15 sec?
