Your story about the concentration camp reminded me of another one that came to me from a book written by Ani Pachen - a Buddhist nun who was confined in a camp in Tibet for many years until she escaped and trekked to India. In the book she describes a monk who was always happy and smiling towards everyone-including the Chinese guards who loved him and allowed him privileges. I have always remembered this story and I eventually even met Ani prior to her death. She and the monk she spoke of in her book are both with me in spirit almost daily. Your story about the concentration camp reminded me of another one that came to me from a book written by Ani Pachen - a Buddhist nun who was confined in a camp in Tibet for many years until she escaped and trekked to India. In the book she describes a monk who was always happy and smiling towards everyone-including the Chinese guards who loved him and allowed him privileges. I have always remembered this story and I eventually even met Ani prior to her death. She and the monk she spoke of in her book are both with me in spirit almost daily. Another thing about this reading is that I am a convert to Judaism and that is why I chose this pile. I was raised a Catholic but rejected it early on. As a teen I read numerous books about the holocaust and I was deeply disturbed and depressed as a young person by this. Later, in my 20’s I took a psychedelic that showed me that there is also light.
