Did you know my shop was in my house before? That's why I never used it - the entire house would be a mess with dust, fumes, etc. (plus I need to turn that room into the second guest bedroom). Not saying it is going to solve all my problems but it has already made me breathe a bit easier having my tools in one spot and being able to create in one designated "room." Thank you Ring for sponsoring today's episode and allowing me to keep eyes and ears where I need them most 24/7, be sure to shop their full line: bit.ly/ringxlivingtodiy
Great job Rachel! So good to see you up and around again. I was wondering... what happened to the round wall opening in your house? Did that get finished? I would love to see that project completed. Especially now that you have a designated workshop. You go girl. Back on track and moving on. YESSSSS!!!
I dig it. I'd "shower curtain" the open side with plastic to close up when not in use, or just push to one side, when you are doing your magical changes, to prevent too much dust from wanting to blow through.. plus it's cheap. :)
Very cool! I love to fix up and build onto/remodel existing structures on our family land. Not sure if you like exterior stained wood, but if so used motor oil makes a beautiful tone. It’s on all the plywood exterior barns and garage at our place. My main project is converted a shed that was built for meat processing into a long term rental for my friend. I only can do a few more things before I hire out some electrical and plumbing work. Some of it I can do, but would rather not have the stress of doing it myself and risking messing things up. I have found it very hard to find someone who can do the work I need done because of the retrofitting and remodel nature of the project. Praying God will send me an electrician! Once some things are moved around and upgraded hopefully a friend can do the plumbing. Have all the materials, just overwhelmed by the labor and unique challenges of a small space and making it livable.
I live in the desert too.....a couple of hours from you ...but still in the Sonoran Mohave desert....its magical living in the wide open spaces....warm dry crystal clear air.....endless skies.. no people...unspoiled silence... dancing stars at night...breezes through the creosote...only a few of us understand it...I get it.. you do too.... we are the CHOSEN FEW.
I live on a big piece of land building community and fixing up this insanely beautiful magical place with some friends. Making over a room into a workshop literally saved my life haha. Gathering all of our tools in one place was so nice. I'm restoring furniture so having a space to sand and paint where I dont have to think about it getting messy or spilling paint is so freaking amazing.
Now I'm pumped to start on my own workspace in the garage, it's time to get organized after moving in 2 years ago, it needs organized with a tad of decor to enhance my Florida/tiki bar/work space vibe...I can do this...btw, love me some bamboo fencing too...!
I wish I had the ability to look at something and invision something else. However I am actually one of those ppl that truly are unable to invision something, like seriously can not see something within my mind. It's crazy and disheartening. I'm happy to see you making progress that makes you happy! And I like how you're talking about camping stuff when just not too long ago, if I remember correctly, you were afraid to camp! We love the growth you go wild child!
As a moderate climate / small town dweller I am confused by absolutely everythinn about living in the desert, but it sure is interesting to watch 😅 Like I can't imagine keeping anything of value in a half-open space, also the floor concerns me greatly, and what happens when there is a storm? Does it ever rain??? But you seem to know what you're doing, so I'm sure it's fine
I love this and it looks great, as always! That said, where I live, on the outskirts of the city, it would be a little risky to store things outside. Hope everything stays nice and safe and you complete many cool projects in your new shop. 💖
Yes i like your work shop. Plenty of surveillance for the Zombies. However i think eventually you will have some projects that take you into the night. We all know how often they take longer than we think.
Love it. But aren’t you afraid that ppl might steal your tools if you leave them outside? I doubt those cameras will scar them off. Or isn’t that a problem where you live?
Please stop stepping into the "I'm emotionally fragile" and "look at me accomplishing things". At some point you have to ask, "Is this youtube gig healthy for me? Yes you are beautiful, recently you mentioned you weighted 90lbs. You are not interested in us visiting your world. You are interested in us approving your world.
There has to be a back and forth with video content. This is one of the most myopic self indulged sad example of a "weak" woman. Consider discussing others aside from yourself. You have an amazing platform and it feels like you are pissing it away.
The thing I love about your channel is that you are realistic, you show the hard times and how it really isn't as easy as it seems yet you push through and get done what you can. By you showing this to me it gives me the reality that I'm not as useless as i feel sometimes. Even though I'm not tackling Reno DIY projects I still relate. Thank you❤
Absolutely Love your content. No matter what it is, you are very like able and you shine. (physically but especially spiritually) that's coming from a 66 yr old lady that is impressed.(ps i lost my virginity in Joshua tree park in 1979 TMI?)
RACHEL!! You should totally connect this space with the structure next to it, which looks like it's already been started. And then you could put the cabinet on the opposite side it is now!! Maybe just throw up one more piece of wood for the roof and it would be covered, just like you wanted.😊 Looking great, glad to see this helped your anxieties too.🖤
"DIYing another life chapter". Wow, could not be any more FOR REALZ!.that comment and sentiment. Talk about the universe being in tune. I was having an off day today. Woke up with a slight headache from stress and the feeling of being worn out and blah. The light at the end of the tunnel is there but it seems really far away. I will just try to continue holding my head up and finding my way. And then came Rachel.......I decided I needed some classical or mellow music and guess who showed up on my feed. Thank you Mama for being here for me today. Congratulations on your Workshop. It is really looking good even if it isn't finished.
Needed this. I make UA-cam videos about my life and have been living and traveling full time on the road for a little over a year UNTIL I just bought my first lil home to renovate which I have been doing for the last month and it is kicking my ass (laughed SO hard when you were like “I can do this in 4 hours… takes 4 days” that is me EVERYDAY). Literally racing the winter weather to have things done enough to move in - watching you and this video 1000% breathed some more energy and motivation into my system to KEEP GOING. Sending so much love to you ❤❤❤
I love love love this idea. Though my fear is the deadly snakes here, so I might have to build I platform first then do this setup. I love how you can see though to the other side
And the cool thing is she made the tiny shed next to it new and can store some more sensitive tools in there 👏 And she could move the second wardrobe between the two structures!

Change it up girl or we'll all fall asleep. Get some new material; pain, sorrow, regret, healing. We get it, we get it, we get it, we get it,
It is good to see you staying true to yourself in working at your pace and workflow.
Thank you! I needed to get this shop done before I could move forward with the renovation with a clear mind.
@@LivingtoDIYwithRachelMetzClear heads are the best! Cheers! 😊
Always a good day when Rachel uploads
Thank you xx.
Dang - that sprayer makes quick work of what would have been a laborious painting job ... 🥰

I’m so glad you moved the shop out of your house, with an awesome view to boot. ❤

Congratulations on the new shop!! 🥹👏🏽👏🏽
That's such a cool transformation.
I always love seeing how you blend into the desert so beautifully and functionally
WOW, she back, what a great work space with a view.
It turned out great! 👍
Thank you! 😊
Loving the beautiful beginnings ❣️
The shop is looking good!

It is fantastic to see what you are doing with some wood and white paint ❤ it looks cool...I love it
Everything looks beautiful I like it❤

could you maybe cover the “breezeway” type area on the other side and place your extra cabinet over there as opposed to on the outside wall?
Makes so much sense - I love it! ✨
living. the. dream. 💜
The second u painted it I said yessss
Love it 😍
You definitely need a shop for your tools. Love the white, so inviting.
Loved this one. Made me so happy ❤
Me too!
good job with the solar 🤣🤣🤣😍
Lovvvve this!!!!

I love it!!
Haha kinda liked the untrimmed walls for a sec
Heyo! What if you perhaps moved that other tall cabinet to the far left in that little space between both structures?
💯
Niiiiiccccee!❤
I was just watching u doing makeovers in Holly's house, and I was wondering if u still talk to her
Cute shop but wonder how far the nearest help is. Ring is awesome for filming but often that's about it.
Omgosh, why. Please be carefully..mama❤❤❤❤❤❤
Are there locks on the tool cabinets?
Yes!
Love it. But aren’t you afraid that ppl might steal your tools if you leave them outside? I doubt those cameras will scar them off. Or isn’t that a problem where you live?
Bout time
ngl that structure is probably going to blow over with the jtree winds now that there are walls...but hope it works out!
It's been there for 30 years with walls previously. I took them down when I first moved in. So far it's been solid!

Right? It like pulls the sky in more.
