Edit: just heard the ending. Gotta say, I feel this hard in Oakland right now. It's crazy to think that I will not be able to afford a home in the city that raised me. And it's crazy seeing the new high rises shooting up while the Tent Cities are shuffled around and swept under the rug. The place that I used to go and see my Black and Latino street uncles are now overrun with little pop up shops catering to people who ignore me when I say good morning, people who call the police because my mother was 'driving while black,' people who pull from the communiry and fund their own.
I still love Oakland, although it's changed.

this song really hits me and this comment sums it up beautifully. gentrification, rising rents are all killing alot of cities. i look at south london and wonder whats happened, none of the people i went to college with can afford their own place we're all having to move to new cities. the racism is wild too. tooting was considered the ghetto but now the white people who cant afford inner city london are displacing people on the outskirts, they have this arrogance about them and ZERO respect for the locals
