Don't quote me on any of the next bit but I seem to remember a leak that indicated hoi4 would go into 2023 before ending and there would first be a Nordic pack, then a middle east and Italy pack and then finally a south America pack. I can't remember which order exactly but I'm 100% sure south America wasn't first and the nordic one wasn't the last one. Again take this with a massive grain of salt because its me remembering, which is unreliable, a leak which is just as unreliable

We used to study Katyusha and Polyushka Polye back in 4tg grade. As a kid I always thought that although Katyusha carried this serenity and beauty it lacked the "power". Katyusha's lyrics are definetly those full of emotion and what Paradox has done is make the emotions be delivered with POWER. Like a punch. I love it.

For some english users there is a cool fact about the song. I think most of you know that Katyusha is a MLRS. Song was wrote before WW2 and Soviet army named the MLRS after the song. And after that song has two meanings. First (the original one) is about a girl who sing her song and asks it to follow the sun till her lover hear her. And the second one about MLRS turned out to fit perfect because there are lines like
    _apple trees and pears blossomed_
_the fog swam above the river_
(which is a spring the time when soviet army got Katyusha MLRS into service and the counteroffensive started)
    _Katyusha came ashore_
_on a high and steep shore_
    (MLRS got in position)
_came out and started to sing_
(MLRS opened fire) (actually the words are "pesnyu zavodila" zavodit' is more like starting the engine. Katyusha starting the engine of her song for more precise translation)
_Oh the song the girls song_
    _Fly after the sun_
    (projectile flying to the sky)
_And say hello from Katyusha to the warrior at the far border_
(Neutralize the enemy on our border)
_Let him recall a simple girl_
_Let him hear how she sings_
(Katyusha is indeed a simple (cheap) girl but at the same time it sings (shoots) and strongly damages the enemy. Dont forget that)
_Tell him to defend his own land_
_and Katyusha will save the love_
(Defend your own land instead of invading us and Katyusha will save her ammunition load instead)

You gave it real pretty meaning but you kinda left out the part where it sings that Katusha promises to survive for the sake of one she loved, one who's letters she saved so it's just a love song about a woman waiting for her solder to come home. A lot of just spelling details of Russian language says that too. You can find pretty meaning in a lot of things if you look for it, but it's not necessarily true 🤷

God damn this song does really follow the timeline of operation Barbarossa.
Very slow paced and mournful at first, reflecting the absolute decimation of the red army and the loss of life with it in the early stages.
The build up around the middle of the song, reflecting the turning points at Stalingrad and Kursk in '43.
And finally ending with a glorious Soviet decimation of the Wermacht and minor Axis forces in operation Bagration all the way to the climax at the end with the fall of Berlin and the end of the war.
The very end gets almost mournful again, but with a different tone. Paying respect to the ~10 million Soviet soldiers and civilians who died, but with a positive outlook on the future, at least at the time.

And the rest of the world never knew how it was done because international messaging was interceptable. Listening to this while watching Eastory's animated eastern front is awesome. You get to see the German advance whilst listening to a sad tuned Russian song, then in 1943 (if you skip to there) you'll see a Russian counter-offensive that'll keep going backed by an upcoming, more enthusiastic beat. Finally in 1945, the Russians have made it to Germany and the Balkans where the failure of Barbarossa bites back on the German's heel. It is just an extraordinary feeling.

I like how at the start of the song, I in a state of was awe from the beauty of the strings instruments, then when things started to pick up the pace, I enjoyed the feeling of the track, it sounding more militant; until the drums hit in which was like a little warning for what was coming up, making the song even more militant, then in a instant, I get drop kicked in the jaw by low brass, which it seems they have as much low brass players as the Soviets had soldiers, now it sounds like the embodiment of what the Japanese felt when they got news that the Soviets were attacking after they just had the first atomic bomb drop on them and hearing that they somehow managed to sneak tens of thousands of soldiers into Manchuria; after getting jumped by the low brass, the strings got my back up with a more relaxed tone, for the low brass to immediately drop kick my in the jaw again. It’s beautiful.

I don't think it's that solemn. Although the flag was raised, the war in the streets of the city most likely continued. Personally, it seems to me that this part of the composition is suitable for how soldiers return to their homeland, to wives and children.

You know what really fucking gets me? We sent a human into outer space, beyond the Earth, for the first time in our history - and it wasn't a monarch, a banker, or an oil billionaire, it wasn't a Rothschild and it wasn't a Rockefeller - it was the humble working-class son of a bricklayer and a milkmaid.
Our first cosmic representative was a socialist, and he was a worker. And even if everything goes to shit, if the hourglass runs out on climate change or nuclear warfare, if we never reach our full potential as a species - the story I will tell my grandkids, between munches of lizard kebabs in our solitary Himalayan cave, is that for one hour and forty-eight minutes, we were humans, and we fucking won.
