❤Wonderful vlogs of your van adventures. Had to sell my caravan due to serious illness, but I was lucky to travel around the country for 10 years. So good memories, and I enjoy armchair travelling with you both. Thanks for your time and effort in doing these videos. Really appreciate it xx. Can't wait to see you in Shrewsbury. It holds a special place in my heart. As my Aunty and Uncle have lived there for 50 years. And my nana who is 94. Has just moved there, from Plymouth. So family ties are strong. Take care of yourselves xx

That was great guys. Loved seeing all the scenery and then the town of Glastonbury. I think Time Team did an excavation in the immediate area. Shame about the rain. I think you may have to break down and spend the money for some decent 3/4 length Gortex waterproof jackets. Once you buy them you are guaranteed not to have rain 😂😂. Gillian

I love your visit to Glastonbury, to the Abby which was huge! But especially to the George and Pilgrim! What a fabulous place! I sent pictures of the pub to my son, who is visiting England for two weeks and staying with a friend attending Oxford. His friend is on vacation from class, and they are visiting many of the ancient locations, and also Harry Potter settings! Tim read the books and watched all the movies, so he has to see it. Both are seminary students. I recommended Glastonbury, especially the pub, to them! And I recommended Sunday Roast for a meal!
If he going to Oxford I hope he’s got plenty of money, it’s expensive
I live close to Abingdon and never go to Oxford unless I’m working in the hospitals there

You have brought all my child hood memories back going to to Glastonbury we went to Somerset every year camping stayed in Weston super mare visiting all around climbing up the tor with my dad sure there was no steps got to the top waving at me mum who was at the bottom .then went to the Abby .done Stonehenge. Bath and cheddar gorge .good memories ❤

You should head back over to Cheshire in the van , near where you met me that time at the airport , there is a place called alderley edge , legend has it that king Arthur held meetings in the caves underground , full of legend and mystery and Merlin !

My Great aunt and uncle lived in Street when I was a kid and you could see the Tor from their back garden. You should also put Winchester on your list to visit, you’d love all the history there too

If you go back to Glastonbury go to street just down the rd and go to Clarkes shoe factory village
A few people told us about that but after all the rain we just wanted to get back and dry ☔

Queen Medb was an Irish queen NOTHING to do with Glastonbury and long before the colonisation of Ireland by the Brits!!! You guys definitely need to do a tour of Ireland and learn all about our history and legends

The first thing I thought of when I heard Glastonbury was the music festival, though I understand it doesn’t actually take place in Glastonbury itself (sort of like with the Woodstock festival which actually took place outside the town). Although it’s clearly all made up, the whole King Arthur story is a fascinating one. I’ve been in two different productions of the musical lot, and of course I’ve read books that include the legend of Arthur, like The Once and Future King. So all of the local tie-ins with the legend were fun to see.

Love Tudor history he Henry wanted to marry Anne Boleyn and the pope would not grant him a divorce so Anne and Cromwell showed him books on the Protestant faith that said that kings were next to good not the pope so took faith on to marry Anne and then him with lots off encouragement from Cromwell dissolved the monastery sorry for the story

for reference to Bridget Jones her parent's house is in SnowHill Gloucestershire which would have been possibly on your route back up north
The Legend or story of king Arthur is originally Celtic , it was rewritten by a French Christian scholar to sound more Christian and medieval , so the body or bodies that are buried there are definitely not him if he was indeed real.

When you go if not already been to Shrewsbury make sure to check out the prison
I had an interview there in 1983 for prison officer, luckily I never got it.
Nick and Leigh history is fascinating but to quote Captain Jack - the story of King Arthur we can thank the French for that, notably the Normans . ( see Le Morte d'Arthur ) . As for Henry the 8th he dissolved the monasteries at the suggestion of Thomas Cromwell who noted how rich they were , and Henry needed the money . Monasteries were catholic then and when Henry broke with the pope ( who wouldn’t ok his divorce from Katherine of Aragon ) Thomas had the bright idea of cashing in . Henry desperately needed a male heir to ( in his eyes ) save the country from civil war , it wasn’t really lust that drove him , it was the desire to save the country he loved , luckily for us the country did accept rule by Henry’s children , even the female ones ( and 3 had a turn ) and we ended up with Elizabeth 1 who followed her fathers creation the Church of England . ( Thomas Cromwell displeased Henry and was eventually executed by him ) try reading Wolf Hall a truly amazing book .
Thanks for refreshing my mind. I realized that I actually went to Glastonbury and Stonehenge on a college trip in 1978. It was my very first trip in a plane. I do remember the church but that’s about it!! Thanks fir the memories

I reside in Glastonbury, Connecticut U.S.A., that is. We are named after the town that you visited.It was a farming town with tobacco , vegetables and many orchards. We were incorporated in 1693. Unfortunately many of the farms and some orchards have become home to million dollar plus homes.Loved the gardens, the town, the Abbey and the view from Gladtonbury Tor. Thanks for taking us along.
That pub with the cobbled street inside it was absolutely amazing!!!! I wish I could be there and feel the old energy. It's truly a shame that King Henry VIII was every born. He destroyed so much history.
