love a zinc melt. thanks for reminding us about some of its sources. been scrapping a lot lately and have a mystery pile that i believe is mostly zinc, probably some manganese too. cheers
Zinc melt- love it. Casts beautifully. I learned a quick way to see if what you have is zinc or not without having to burn it with a torch. Get some copper sulfate powder used for root removal from pipes, etc. Dilute a spoonful of it in water in a spray bottle. Take a file to your mystery metal and make a few scratches. Spray on the solution and if it turns black, it’s zinc. If it bubbles, it’s magnesium. If it does nothing, it’s aluminum. I use it and it’s a big help.
my guess is that some alloy got into your melt, and something oxidized while you poured it out? like solder without flux will bead up and not stick well to stuff. Hey I sent you an email, hoping you could do two thin skull coins for on the ends of my copper handrail I'm building for my front steps
Thanks for the scale sticker
Your hoard is growing.

@@geegee8380 Oh wow, good to know. It takes the fun away of playing with fire, but probably good. 😂

I dunno, but it was stiil fun too watch. Keep it up man!
@@josephlanguemi Thanks. They're not all homeruns. It was a solid double. 😁
I think the lighter bar had zamic in it. That is an alloy of aluminum and zinc. That makes it pour better and be lighter.
@@rickeyboatright6237 OK that makes sense.
The Trump coins are awesome

I remember the video. But not sure about the material of the skull you drop at the end. What happened there ? 🎉🎉✌️😎
@@88clemoine That's when I melted rads - too much aluminum for that much copper. That was a shocker.
Must have something else with it? Great Video! Did you get out and vote yet?
@@thescrapmeister Hell yeah I did. Over a week ago. Fingers crossed!

@@blackwidowfarms I don't have any skull coins, just actual skulls.
Maybe bronze??
@@DanielGibbons-m7r No definitely not bronze, it would be redish color.
Oh so now you can lecture us like a safety Nazi...🤔
