Ok. So you didn't do an initial "kiss cut". Then you didn't loosen-turn 180 degrees and tighten to run a parallel line and check for trueness against the "kiss" line. That's important to make sure your rotor is properly sitting on the laith. Then you didn't take the inner diameter lip out. Also, most bits require you taking at least 5 to 6 thou in each cut, so your bits don't overheat. You did it at 4, which may or may not be the best thing. Heat transfer might not be very efficient, but lets say it was okay. Also, no mention of your rough and smooth cuts. First run is fast rpm and that's the rough cut. 2nd cut is at low rpm and that's your smooth cut. Then you're supposed to hone the disc with a rotor hone adapter on an angle grinder.
So only "lock down" the cutting blades once you set your cut depth? In this case, .004"? I see that you locked them in place with those black knobs. Is it possible to just keep the blades locked in while you're making all those initial adjustments beforehand?
The purpose of my channel is to teach high school students how to use automotive equipment. Yes, better methods might be available but I break tasks down step by step for easier processing by students. BTW, you have a nice channel!
What oil and amount do you put on your gear on your hunter brake lathe? Sae 140?

Best practice is to adjust the cutting tips so they come off the rotor at the same time. Then lock down the twin cutter.
