All silver is hand cut with a jewelers frame saw using Scies 3/0 piercing blades. Handmade spurs in this video are made using the stock removal method.
The spur heel bands are hand formed around a heel band jig then belt sanded and clean up so the spur shanks can be welded on. Some of the tools used for spur making are a Miller 250 DX Syncrowave welder and a 2" X 72" belt grinder as well as a Baldor Buffer number 114 and a anvil and Victor Acetylene Torch.
Welding Supplies such as Harris Brazing alloy is used to attach the silver mountings to the spurs, the product I use from the Harris Products Group is the 45% Brazing alloy that is 45% silver and is considered a hard solder.
Grinding supplies are by Norton and Klingspor I use Norton Belts for heavy stock removal and Klingspor J-Flex belts for blending the welds and polishing the spurs.

Red McCombs? Beautiful work Bruce. I've learned to do silver work watching your videos and have made several sets of really nice spurs and many belt buckles, headstall buckles, spur strap buckles, etc. Thanks for inspiring me Bruce! Would love to meet you someday

very nice work! i enjoy watching your videos on spurs, saddles, bits, and all your creative leather workings too. I have about 10 subscriptions and every time I skim your channel I am hoping to see new ones. You ought to post some more!

i like the custom spurs Bruce! I ride cattle sorting and cutting, i was hoping you could do some more detailed videos on making some awesome sorting/cutting spurs. I think you should do some kind of raffle or contest to win some gear that you make! Obviously, I would like to get some of your gear. Anything from saddles to axes. Look forward to seeing more great videos.

A couple of questions. #1- Are you using a grade of steel that doesn't rust easily? #2 For your rowels, why couldn't a person just cut slices out of a piece of round stock? It seems it would save a lot of time and is sure to be perfectly round.

I use 4130 aircraft alloy for the heel bands it does gain a patina after use that actually helps high light the silver work. Rowels can be made all kinds of ways round stock would be a real time saver as well as have your pattern water jet or laser cut. Thanks for asking
