Fact! I'm literally getting my oil, oil filter and fuel filter done tomorrow as recommended by Scotty every 5k miles plus I sold my nice a6 audi and got a 04 Toyota Avensis with only 85k on the clock🤣 for €200 all it needed was a new clutch pml €550 all in ahhahahaha😂 I'm going to get it to 1 millions miles😎
Funny how one spends a lifetime searching for the perfect car. Then I stumbled across an old Lexus LS430. Wow, streets ahead of anything I had ever owned. Will never buy another car again. It will see me out. Comfortable, fast, quiet, reliable and more gorgeous than the wife. Thanks Scotty for your enjoyable vids.
The rx Lexus are great cars. Bought one for my ex. The trans went out at 80k but Lexus covered 75% of replacing. She ran that car for over 10 years up to 300k miles with no real issues and she barely maintained the thing. Probably would of kept going but she got tboned. Car was totaled but she walked away without a scratch. Highly recommend
My mom had one the 2003 model the transmission went out. That seems to be a trend the transmission. She was out 4k! I'm leery of the newer models. They are beautiful though.
@@golferpro1241 Make sure to get the transmission fluid and diffs serviced. With miles that low it’s probably on its original fluid and that’s a recipe for disaster. Keep it good shape. Low mile examples are gonna be worth a lot soon. I like them more than new ones. Too much crap going on IMO.
What about replacement parts? I'm looking at a 2015 venza. I was thinking about Lexus but seeing how parts are still expensive for my "luxury" 2005 acura tl. Has me second guessing the Lexusususus lol
What I have found is buying something like a 5 year old or less Lexus is a good idea to consider since it was probably on average maintained better than a similar Toyota. They often get traded in for another new Lexus and those dealers sell the trade in at dealer auctions. Then they wind up on used car lots somewhere else. A Carfax type report will clue you in to that kind of history. Typically wealthier people buy them as new cars and let the dealers do all of the maintenance. They don't skimp if repairs are needed since cost is not a concern. I think you will find they are also in better cosmetic condition. In addition to some luxury you will probably get newer and better features. You just have to be careful not to pay too much like anything else.
I will go for a Lexus instead of a Toyota, like the 2009 ES 350 sedan for sure. It is one of the best, luxurious vehicles in the market, than a garbage, 2005 BMW 5-Series and a decent, 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
I have a 2013 ES350 with now only 36k miles, I’m the 2nd owner, bought it last April 2019 with 30,009 miles ! Incredible Craftsmanship, Solid and dependability/reliability is unparalleled!! German Cars are empty $ pits as they age (5 + years) with high mileage (over 50k) miles !
I just picked up a gorgeous 2011 Lexus ES 350, fully loaded with pretty low mileage...trying to get used to driving it. Still have the 1995 Toyota Camry and it is my daily driver....such a world of driving difference. ..never owned a Lexus before, but glad I bought it. What a luxury car.......
Haters always say 'Lexus is just a Toyota'. But they don't realize that Lexus has thicker glass & paint, better sound deadening, and is much more refined than even their German counterparts.
I had an Acura and I learned that even though it’s nothing more than a upgraded Honda it costs way more to fix than a Honda when it does break. Same thing for Toyota/Lexus.
I traded a 2010 Lexus 450h for a 2012 Highlander Hybrid. No contest, the Lexus is better. Nothing wrong with the Highlander, but auto wipers and interior/exterior design is so much more pleasing. Just got another 2010 450h.
I had a customer that has a 2007 Lexus RX350 and her neighbor's always told her to buy a new car but I told her to tell her neighbors that she doesn't need a new car because her Lexus RX350 had hardly any problems
I have 01 Toyota Camry 300,000 miles runs like new and a 07 Lexus 350 RX 150,000 miles runs like new. Purchased the Camry 12. Yrs ago for $4500. Purchased the Lexus for $7000 5 yrs ago. Best vehicles I every owned hands down.
I own an '08 Civic EX. No problems since I have owned it. There was a recall for the passenger airbag. Make sure that recall work was accomplished before you buy.
I had a 1992 Civic for 16 years for 235,000 hard mostly city miles. I thought it was the greatest car...until I drove a crappy Corolla, which was faster and quieter, and then a Camry, which was so quiet, I thought the Honda was a bucket of rattling bolts. When I got my first real job after college, I promised myself something nice and reliable...a Lexus. Even though I've had many cars since then (BMW, Volvo, MB, every shape Toyota), only the Lexus comes to mind as the forever car. We don't live forever, but sure as heck, I rather drive a nicer, quieter, more powerful, and safer car.
Catbeat Brigade a breeze. My biggest expensive were tires. Only have needed an oil change and my MAF was dirty and gave me a check engine. Easily CLEANED, didn’t replace, and it went away. It’s nothing too quick but it’s enjoyable.
I just bought a lexus is350 2009 with 85000 miles....this car is super smooth and super fast and im getting 28 mpg on highway only thing it needed was breaks....
Bought a 2010 Lexus gs350 in 2017 with 80k miles on it for $17k . It’s been the best vehicle we ever had. Got 125,000 miles on it now and no issues whatsoever (thank God) . We took a chance buying it with higher miles but it’s solid as a rock. I never had really looked into Lexus before and just thought they were really expensive rear wheel drive cars. Ours is all wheel drive which is what sold us on the car cuz we live in the snow belt. We thought about upgrading to a newer Lexus (RX 350) but don’t want any car payments now. The Lexus replaced my 2005 Nissan maxima that had 220,000 miles on it before it went. I was driving over 3 hours to work and back a day and needed a good car. We are now both retired and not putting hardly any miles on our vehicles. I have a 2011 Nissan maxima sv that’s fully loaded with only 71,000 miles on it and I barely run it. We usually take my wife’s Lexus. They are amazing cars.
The problem with having mechanics check them out is: where the heck can you find a mechanic? Trustworthy ones are a rare breed. I had one but he was so honest, he couldn’t make a living . Or maybe he was too tempted to go to the dark side.
Piston slap. My 2001 tundra had it. I bought it new and with 20k miles on it, it was introduced to a Minnesota winter and it sounded like a diesel at startup. It went away after a few minutes but it was alarming. I took it in and that's what they said. So it does not mean it was not taken care of as I changed the oil every 3k back then and it has such low miles.
I drive a 04 RX 350 with 200K on it. Love it so much that I like to repaint it just to give it a shine. Love to get a new one with the new digital gadgets, but the old one keeps chucking along. What can I say? Another 200k to go.
I'm buying a 2007 Lexus IS350 with 150k miles. Camshaft replaced, timing chain gears replaced and starter replaced, new tires. Hope I'm making a good buy.
Lexus is better buy used because you pay same price but get all the luxury goodies as a benefit on top of the unbeatable reliability. I have 3 Lexus and two Toyota’s. 1: 2004 Toyota Solara SLE V6 coupe 2: 2005 Toyota Land Cruiser fully loaded 3: 2006 Lexus ES330 fully loaded 4: 2007 Lexus ES350 5: 2008 Lexus LS460
Scotty. Just an update. New factory Toyota prius batteries have 3 year warranties now and are a lot cheaper. I just had my mechanic install one in my 04 at 200k for $2200! The car has been the most reliable one I've owned in 40 years.
Agree rx350 is a good vehicle, the belts can definitely wear out for a vehicle 15 years old but as far as transmission/motor you’re not going to run into any issues until after 250k miles depending how you treat it, got a neighbor of mine with original motor and tranny on a 2004 rx330 and his is still good at 280k+ miles
Lark T I have same car let me know if you will like to upgrade your radio to Android, I did this on my car dashboard with 10.2inch screen better than 2020 cars
I am looking into a 2020 Toyota CHR Limited, it is non turbo, non all wheel drive, non GDI, a standard four cylinder with an excellent CVT 30 MPG highway, 26 grand loaded, looks like a great deal.
My dad has a 2000 Chevy Tahoe Z71 200k + miles and it still runs phenomenally. Really miss the old GM but sadly I don’t see them getting any better any time soon.
That model Lexus RX is sold as a Toyota Harrier here in Thailand with a 2.4 liter engine and rearwheel drive. Newer model Harriers are great looking suv's.
Scotty bought a Saturn vue for 300$ 290k miles automatic transmission haven’t repaired and transmission is strong and the motor is strong its a wow for me
My 99 v6 solara is a trooper tbh. Had 15 previous owners, been in a flood (water up to the seatbelts), leaks and burns oil, 260k+ miles. And I still use it as a delivery vehicle. In 55k miles the starter and alternator had to be replaced, that's all. Wild
Have 2004 rx330. Keep getting cylinders 1 and 3 misfire code. Engine runs fine. New plugs and coils. No vacuum leaks. Mass airflow is clean. Guess i will try O2 sensors next
There's a cheaper workaround for EV batteries. Find someone to replace whichever cell is bad. A Prius has about 5 cells which are pretty common. If only one cell is out, the car won't go. Dealer will charge you $4K to replace the whole battery, but battery cell repair costs about $300/Cell. Replace one or two cells, for $600 and you get back on the road relatively cheap for another 50K miles.
Speaking of Lexus, does anybody know why they’re really discontinuing the GS (if they actually are)?? Makes no sense to me since it’s hard for me to find anybody selling them used, especially the 3rd generation.
Because no one is buying them only thing that sells for Lexus is the ES and RX. Most of peeps that love them are usually the 2nd and 3rd owners that purchased them preowned.
Scotty...I'm still driving a 2004 chevy tracker v6 (a suzuki vitara in drag hiding behind a chevy badge) with 240k miles on it. It's not pretty. It's not fancy. But NO major work done on it and it fires right up. Suzuki did something right.
@Joye Jnice! When I was looking I just made sure that the car didn't have any accidents and clean carfax. I checked the door panel and mine was made in Japan like Scotty said even better.
@Joye J that's amazing. I saw a 2010 Lexus is 250 with 70k miles on it but was afraid to buy so I opted with the 2014 with 70k. I'm hoping to have it for a while.
I just purchased a 2003 Toyota Avalon v6 with 144,xxx miles for $2050 and the exterior was 7/10, the interior was 8/10 no leaks or any lights on with blowing cold ac what do you think of my decision??? ( I want to be in the video)😬
98 dodge Dakota 5.2 with 152K miles. On cold starts, it idles normal for the first couple minutes then idles like it has a cam. Then a minute later, the idle revs up to 1300 rpm and drops back down to normal rpm and runs smoothly. It drives fine. If I drive it before the idle fluctuates to make it sound cammed, the truck surges like it has a failing fuel pump. No codes either, what can possibly be wrong?
The battery on a Prius now you can get for $1500. A friend of mine just bought one for pennies. And then replaced the battery has been driving it for the last 50,000 miles
Scotty, I am looking at a '98 RAV4 with 220,000 miles, the seller states: " the only issue is an oil leak that seems to occur mostly just after startup. It doesn’t leak when parked, but there are signs of a leak underneath and it will drip if left idling in one spot after a cold start. Seems to stop or slow drastically after warmed up. This causes it to lose a quart every oil change or so. The exhaust is NOT smoking, so again, this is a leak and not burning oil. " What do you think the problem could be?
Scotty , I am retired and looking for the new ( old car ) . What do you think about Lexus LS460 ( 2015-2017 ) or RX350 AWD ( 2017-2020 )? Thank you , Ziggy
"Lexus vs Toyota" isn't really a good argument in itself for a few reasons; alot of older Lexus models are literally just Toyotas rebadged as Lexuses for the USA from Japan.
My 2005 Prius battery went out after the 10 year warranty. I just went to a junkyard and bought a 2014 battery for $850. C'mon Scotty, not 7 or 8 thousand bucks. Even a new battery from Toyota is just $1950.
Scotty please do a video ranking cars based on comfort, convenience and long-term reliability I watch every one of your videos, and I hope you do that vid. That would be the cherry on top 👌🍒
Scotty i ask about buying a used 4x4 pickup earlier today i forgot to mention, i won't be using it for a workhorse. Just to throw some stuff in once in a while and for bad winter days.
If your fuel pump keeps breaking it may be due to a clogged fuel filter forcing the fuel pump to work harder than its supposed to. Another culprit for fuel pump failure is the driver almost never fill their tank all the way and drive their car on near empty all the time.

Just bought me a 07 gs350 awd. It was hard to find and kind of expensive but worth every penny in my experience so far. I came from a 05 Lexus es330.
I’ll bet you’re enjoying that GS. I continue to own and drive an 06 GS model myself, and still loving the overall ownership experience.
Thank you for sharing from Australia ❤
11 minutes, 2,500 views. Keep rockin' Scotty!
The problem with having mechanics check them out is: where the heck can you find a mechanic? Trustworthy ones are a rare breed. I had one but he was so honest, he couldn’t make a living . Or maybe he was too tempted to go to the dark side.
Read the carfax, buy a scan tool, and only look at reliable cars. Note: BMWs, Audis, MBs are all used car lot specials for a reason.
Put half a can of Seafoam in the gas and drive it. Thank me later.
@@superteamvideo1930 I sold that truck in 2004.
The 1978 Toyota Celica GT coupe was the best car ever made in auto history.
Better than a supra? I didnt think so
Nope! The best car ever made was the 1994 toyota celica!
Cmon man the lx 470 rules
At 4:19 Scotty find a low mileage engine from a Junk Yard Shows Chevy Dealer
And then says he wouldn't have bought a dodge and he's talking about a duramax. Lol
Just got a mint 2011 gs 350 thanks to scotty 👍 absolutely love it
Hey Scotty, looking to buy a Lexus 2005 RX 330 for 5000 good deal looks really good
I drive a 04 RX 350 with 200K on it. Love it so much that I like to repaint it just to give it a shine. Love to get a new one with the new digital gadgets, but the old one keeps chucking along. What can I say? Another 200k to go.
How’s it going now? Still good?
I'm buying a 2007 Lexus IS350 with 150k miles. Camshaft replaced, timing chain gears replaced and starter replaced, new tires. Hope I'm making a good buy.
I’m considering buying a 2017 Lexus RX 350. Are they expensive to maintain compared to a Toyota Highlander? Just curious.
Lexus is better buy used because you pay same price but get all the luxury goodies as a benefit on top of the unbeatable reliability. I have 3 Lexus and two Toyota’s.
1: 2004 Toyota Solara SLE V6 coupe
2: 2005 Toyota Land Cruiser fully loaded
3: 2006 Lexus ES330 fully loaded
4: 2007 Lexus ES350
5: 2008 Lexus LS460
Bro ur E330 vs LS460 which one is better to own?
Rich guy
RX 350 doesn’t have a timing belt it’s chain driven.
Make a video driving your Toyota Celica
I remember this episode from like 2 or 3 weeks ago.
2010 Lexus IS250 .. been problem free... ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Lark T I have same car let me know if you will like to upgrade your radio to Android, I did this on my car dashboard with 10.2inch screen better than 2020 cars
Sunde Wale i have the factory navigation.. only thing I would like too upgrade is the headlights... too the LEDs..
I won’t ever get better.
Phenomenal that it Runs at all
0:47 He was about to say Nissan but said Infinity. Lol
It's the same company....
I bought an 04 rx330 292k on it for 2k.
Very smooth and more comfortable than half of my friends new cars.
That model Lexus RX is sold as a Toyota Harrier here in Thailand with a 2.4 liter engine and rearwheel drive. Newer model Harriers are great looking suv's.
Scotty bought a Saturn vue for 300$ 290k miles automatic transmission haven’t repaired and transmission is strong and the motor is strong its a wow for me
Enjoy the VUE. ...
Wild
Have a 2007 toyota highlander 3.3L V6 198800 miles. Runs Fantastic with 5000 mile oil changes. And Timing belt/water pump at 120000miles
Have 2004 rx330. Keep getting cylinders 1 and 3 misfire code. Engine runs fine. New plugs and coils. No vacuum leaks. Mass airflow is clean. Guess i will try O2 sensors next
Scotty has 3 cars and a motorcycle yet walks to buy groceries. Scotty is a smart practical man !
Makes no sense to me since it’s hard
for me to find anybody selling them used, especially the 3rd generation.
Because no one is buying them only thing that sells for Lexus is the ES and RX. Most of peeps that love them are usually the 2nd and 3rd owners that purchased them preowned.
Local Lexus dealer had one before the lock down.
And just like that, Rx prices almost double. Thanks scotty
Scotty thank you for everything. God bless you.
Scotty...I'm still driving a 2004 chevy tracker v6 (a suzuki vitara in drag hiding behind a chevy badge) with 240k miles on it. It's not pretty. It's not fancy. But NO major work done on it and it fires right up. Suzuki did something right.
Prius Batteries and Generators do not cost that much and there are way cheaper options to get those things replaced.
I like the way Camry looks but don't have AWD. And they are both expensive now. So I got a used Lexus
@Joye J 2014 lexus IS 250. It's fun to drive and if it's in sport mode it goes 100 mph no problem.
@Joye Jnice! When I was looking I just made sure that the car didn't have any accidents and clean carfax. I checked the door panel and mine was made in Japan like Scotty said even better.
@Joye J mine is also AWD. It MSRP'd for 38k in 2014 I got it for 18k.
@Joye J how many miles on it? Or kilometers? I don't know what you use in Australia.
@Joye J that's amazing. I saw a 2010 Lexus is 250 with 70k miles on it but was afraid to buy so I opted with the 2014 with 70k. I'm hoping to have it for a while.
I drive a 98 gs400 300,000miles and still not one major repair besides a crack in the radiator. Had it for 8 years so far
I drive a 2004 Lexus IS 300 with 205K miles. It runs great, I replaced the timing belt/water pump and plan on driving it until the wheels fall off
I just purchased a 2003 Toyota Avalon v6 with 144,xxx miles for $2050 and the exterior was 7/10, the interior was 8/10 no leaks or any lights on with blowing cold ac what do you think of my decision??? ( I want to be in the video)😬
Love your videos it has a lot of info you are the reason i didn't buy passat instead I bought camry.
Thanks 😊
I’ve always wanted a Audi Q7 but after watching Scotty, I bought a Lexus RX 350.
What an effective info source you are! Talks with both mouth and hands! Just brilliant! You know your stuff! Cheers!
I am listening to a two and a half hour AWS commercial for you Scotty, so you can get paid, and because that's ALL that I can do!
Does anyone know where to find a good mechanic like him?
98 dodge Dakota 5.2 with 152K miles. On cold starts, it idles normal for the first couple minutes then idles like it has a cam. Then a minute later, the idle revs up to 1300 rpm and drops back down to normal rpm and runs smoothly. It drives fine. If I drive it before the idle fluctuates to make it sound cammed, the truck surges like it has a failing fuel pump. No codes either, what can possibly be wrong?
I just love this guy
The battery on a Prius now you can get for $1500. A friend of mine just bought one for pennies. And then replaced the battery has been driving it for the last 50,000 miles
Scotty should work for Lexus. He sold me a '14 ES350 about a year ago without even knowing it. If it was AWD, it'd be the world's best sedan.
From front or back of engine?
oil sending unit
The V-8 Toyota motor also can be from cheap gas some where with water in it and also fuel filter can be clogged or injecters
Lexus RX 350 2010 and Venza 2011 which will you advise me to buy Scotty?
I have a 2013 Lexus IS-F and I love it. Always admired Lexus reliability, beats my brainwashed family's German cars hands down. When will they learn.
the way some englines are getting designed. the oil change will be more pain in the butt
Scotty what do you think about the Nissan/ Infiniti 3.7? 🤔
Lexus was created because of American snobbery
In the case of the Lexus GX460, they are a Toyota Prado not otherwise available on the American market.
My 2005 Prius battery went out after the 10 year warranty. I just went to a junkyard and bought a 2014 battery for $850. C'mon Scotty, not 7 or 8 thousand bucks. Even a new battery from Toyota is just $1950.
On line listed at 2200-2600 without installation.
Scotty please do a video ranking cars based on comfort, convenience and long-term reliability
I watch every one of your videos, and I hope you do that vid. That would be the cherry on top 👌🍒
Not sure what you mean by "convenience," but you can't beat Lexus for comfort and reliability.
Awesome old man 👍👍👍👍
Scotty, still waiting for a video on the Lexus AWD system. How does it stack up to the Subaru system?
Better yet, how does it stack up with the superior Audi Quattro Torsen based 4wd...
@@mrtyreus0 The only problem I've heard about the Subaru AWD is it's connected to the horrible boxer engine and the notorious fender rust issue.
Scotty, where do you get those cat pillows? My wife and I love them!
YOU ARE THE BEST! Thanks for helping this girl learn about cars and not get taken advantage of!
Scotty i ask about buying a used 4x4 pickup earlier today i forgot to mention, i won't be using it for a workhorse. Just to throw some stuff in once in a while and for bad winter days.
Hi Scotty I am from Australia is Toyota Kluger a good car?
2019 RX350 - love it! Except for that pesky fuel pump thingy they don’t know how to fix...
If your fuel pump keeps breaking it may be due to a clogged fuel filter forcing the fuel pump to work harder than its supposed to. Another culprit for fuel pump failure is the driver almost never fill their tank all the way and drive their car on near empty all the time.
