Wow, what a lively stream. The fly would barely hit the water and they'd take it. Cool I enjoyed that!

It is one of my favorites. I have never ran into another fly fisherman on this little stream. It used to be old homestead property well over a hundred years ago and they planted apple trees so every once in a while in October you are treated to some incredible tasting heirloom apples.

Awesome! So fun discovering places to go here in Utah. Do you use floatant on the renegade? I’ve used that a lot with fly and bubble on still water, but haven’t tried on tenkara.

There are so many places in Utah that have excellent fly fishing. I do use floatant on the Renegade. Tenkara enables you to gently drop a dry fly on the water with very little drag. I hope you will give Tenkara a try. A great all around Tenkara rod and line in my opinion would be the Tenkara USA Iwana and use the shorter of the Tenkara USA's tapered leaders.

@ oh, I do tenkara, lol. Only been doing it a little over a year, but almost have my first slam, and have scoped out lots of fun creeks. I have three Dragontail rods and a WTR rod. I do want to try that tapered leader.

you say tapered leader: can you describe the leader in more detail? thanks

I use the Tenkara USA tapered nylon tenkara line. It casts incredibly easily, has highest visibility, and does a good job at staying off the water rather than sagging under the rod. I rarely use any other Tenkara line. The Tenkara USA tapered nylon line features a loop to girth-hitch to the rod tip, simplifying that connection. This line is available in two different lengths, 11'6" or 14'9". You won't be disappointed trying this line.
