  • Can't even find the wikipedia article for this album, 2197.
Anyway, what I know about it is that it was published by Troubadour Records. It's great music, but unheard. The wikipedia article for Troubadour Records will give more of an idea of what's going on:
Troubadour Records is an independent Japanese record label, founded in 1992 by Shinji Hosoe.
The label was set up to release original (non-game) work by numerous video game composers. Some of the composers who have released material on the label include Hitoshi Sakimoto, Ayako Saso, Takayuki Aihara, Motoaki Takenouchi, Hayato Matsuo, Nobuyoshi Sano and Yasuhisa Watanabe, among many others.
Troubadour Records has also released music by some of Hosoe's side projects, such as Oriental Magnetic Yellow and Manikyua-Dan.
In 2000, Troubadour Records ceased its activities and Shinji Hosoe founded a new record label called Super Sweep Records.

I'm kind of amazed to see another person specifically mention Tail of the Sun. And yeah, that's what brought me here. It was fairly difficult to pin down Tail of the Sun's composer in the first place, and all of Yasuyuki Suzuki's works are obscure like this. It's an odd state of affairs but I rightly figured the best way of actually finding more music by this composer would be to hit up UA-cam. And sure enough, what I'm hearing is more of that freeform 90s style I was after. While I admit I have a particular soft spot for the work done for Tail of the Sun, whose wacky trappings dictated the nature of the soundtrack to a great extent, I'm pleased to hear echoes of that talent here.

Oddly enough, this track reminds me of Tsuneo Imahori's work, specifically the Gungrave OST. Give it a shot, maybe you'd like it too.
