PC looks incredible, and this is only the beginning as people will surely work on high res texture packs and there should be further optimisations and bug fixes in the coming months.
Jak 2 open goal is really good for my experience! But sadly for me I had to turn off the sky textures for it to be playable, because if I leave it on, the game plays a little bit slow for some odd reason. I sure hope they fix that problem in a future update.
I'm at 30% now on PC/OpenGoal and its running really great, with 165 FPS too. I waited so long for this and I'm very happy. Looks great. Only have some audio glitches occasionally where some sounds don't play or are somewhat distorted. But this is minor bug and will be fixed. For the first beta release its already GOLD Full respect to the developers ❤❤
@@marcogee5642 sorry buddy i spent like 15 minutes now and wrote 3 comments trying to explain it but it keeps getting removed.. even without any URLs.. try look for opengoal tutorials, good luck. you need the software (opengoal launcher) and your ps2 game
Can't express how glad and proud this makes me of this community, the sheer effort this must've taken to accomplish... wow... That said, what I'd wanna see fixed and/or added in the future: * Some areas seem to lack the correct color grading/bloom implementation that what was in PS2/PS3 versions. Take a look at the forest and racing ones for example. * The PS3 version had a fog effect (that probably relied on z-depth) which helped some areas feel larger, more atmospheric and hide some imperfections. It could do wonders on the forest and tower maps, as well as in free roam! * This is more mod-related, but I'm very curious to know if opening up city buildings is possible. It would be amazing if in the future we could have a fully-explorable Haven City, home interiors included! Imagine also having the NPCs come and go through their homes instead of just walking the streets! Also, populating places like Krew's Bar!
OpenGOAL also has fog effects, but in that scene it was not present. The game controls the weather randomly, so it's very hard to match different scenes.
Ps3 it could be better. But trust me guys. The real nostalgia and feelings of your childhood you will feel in the ps2. im not sure if they already put it in the playstation 5 or 4. I wish to have it someday. The ps2 at least
The PS2 versions of Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Jak II, Jak 3 and Jak X have been on PS4 & PS5 for a long time already. They are not recommended by anyone tho, because they perform pretty bad on PS4 and still have performance drops on PS5, plus it also has audio glitches. But this happens on every single PS2 game on PS4 & PS5. I don't know why.
Man the nostalgia from seeing the old ps2 version is great. The way it was meant to be played when devs loved what they did and gave us great games. Its amazing seeing what the community has done with opengoal and getting to relive the old memories in HD. My eyes have become too coddled to 1080p that the original 480p is tough to look at anymore so this is amazing to get to experience
Not a fanboy or anything but I really appreciate that ND and Sony don't seem interested in shutting this down. I hate when developers shut fan projects down when they weren't even planning to do anything with the IP.
I know in Jak 1 you could go into the video settings within the game, i presume it is the same for Jak2. Also, Where did you get your ISO file for Jak2? I cannot dump my copy because I have no disc drive and everyone I have tried online does not install properly.
im sure they will add the interface in the graphics options to change game resolution very soon, you can already do it right now by pressing "alt" then on the upper left navigate to "restart game in debug mode!" after that press L3 + start > then the debug menu opens > go to "PC settings" > sizes, there you can choose all kinds of resolutions that you wanna play with
The port isn't just higher quality textures, it has tons of new features like changing the DualSense's light color, higher framerates, KB+M support and a bunch of other cool things in the settings
@@Dante_Sparda_DMC pcsx2 runs the games (except daxter and lost frontier) at a stable 60fps. You can map the controlls to a keyboards as well. If light color on a DS is something worth it to you then you do you, but that's even less than the csgo skins.
The textures definitly look a lot better, draw distance has been increased by a lot, anisotropic filtering works a lot better, you can run the game at 120 FPS, 165 FPS... this version also added new subtitles to the game, the ability to retorn to the metalhead nest, proper 16:9 support (not forced like the one on PCSX2 with the WS fixes), etc. I suggest you to try this version, it's a lot better than PCSX2 and also looks better than the HD collection released on PS3 and no, it doesn't have the punch glitch, so don't worry. And the best thing of all; it doesn't require a good PC at all, you can play it on a toaster like the Ryzen 3 3200G and it will still perform and look a lot better than the PS3 version.
Naughty dog never did a Jak and Daxter port... PS3 and PS Vita versions are ported by Mass Media. PS4 version is running under Sony's PS2 emulator on PS4 and PS5.
You would think Sony would hire these guys to bring these games on PC officially and then have them do Jak 3 and Jak X but apparently Sony is to busy with Pander-Man 2.
Lol whattt? How did it lose any charm or soul just by increasing the draw distance and removing the hardware limitations of the PS2/PS3?? It's not like there's an ai-upscaled texture pack applied, I agree that sometimes those look uncanny and off-putting but i just don't get why you don't like this port. I was playing it yesterday and was mesmerized by how insane the detail on Jak's hair was for example.
You can really see the difference and I have to appreciate everyone who worked on the project for that
Closet thing to a remake
@@phantomgamer12 not a remake but surely a remastered

Bless the OpenGoal devs, Jak II has never looked better!! I'm blown away by how beautiful the game looks on PC!
Great... Having seen these PC clips, I can never return to the PS2 version
They actually found a way to upscaled the Text and Ui which is insanely amazing.

It's probably nostalgic that I remember the PS2 graphics being much better.😅
Or wait the game has a 1080p Mode 🤔
But it could also be that the option was only introduced since jack3
I think it does look better on a tv :D you look at it further away

I played the trilogy growing up , these games was something and still something special
If only the Devs at open goal could give the original ratchet and clank games the same treatment 😩
Ratchet and Clank games were not written in GOAL.

What sort of differences should we expect with Jak 2 on PC? Looks like just a res upgrade is enough
Increased draw distance, PS4/5 light bar support, proper widescreen, high frame rates.
@@MuchWhittering Draw distance and proper widescreen sounds amazing. Jak 1 looks amazing with native 16:9
on top of what was stated above, mods.
also much less input lag with button presses

what specs are needed to play the game on FHD at 120fps on laptop ?
3060 maybe, but I'm not sure... You should stick to 60 FPS, increasing frame rate can result some issues.

I have to ask, aren't these the same textures just upscaled? I mean PCSX2 does that. Doesn't that somewhat mean the port is irrelivant?
