I know I'm a bit late to this, so forgive me for that. I absolutely love Horslips! The song is part of a story album called "The Tain" (The raid), and this song is sung from the point of view of ancient Ireland's greatest hero, Cu Cuchulain (Koo Koohulin). The line "Two heads are better than none, a hundred heads are so much better than 1" refers to the ancient Irish warriors habit of "taking heads" of their enemies. The more "trophies", the more status... Kinda grim, but that was the way it was.
Very nice Irish mixture of different rhythms here love the way they layered it up worth exploring a bit more for sure

The Best Irsih Rock Band ever YES!
Irish band with a lot of traditional Irish influence in their music.
Saw them in a small club in Syracuse NY in their least Celtic era Charles played electric guitar! Otherwise the BEST have and enjoy all the rest!
"Dearg" is Irish for 'red', so Dearg Doom means red death or red destroyer.
Thanks 👍
Dearg is irish for red so the title translates to red doom.
Uilleann pipes, not accordion.
Thanks
I guess it's excusable for people from other countries to not know the Uilleann pipes. Excellent track from my favourite group.
