Good advice. Always block that handle space on boxes. Even better, strengthen the front and back with thick cardboard. It's a no brainer.

I have used CGC and CBCS. The thing that holds me back from CBCS is the lack of customer service. It takes an act of congress to get help.
X-Men 139 is also the first appearance of Heather Hudson, easily the central figure that Alpha Flight revolves around.
Hi, I agree with the viewer mail regarding CBCS. I went to NY Comic Con in October and did my first ever submission to CGC and to CBCS. They both provided good service but the CBCS service was more personable. I got the card and email of the CBCS representative and emailed him throughout my submission and felt a level of trust which is important when doing a submission the first time and sending valuable books off. The books I submitted included 4 signature verification books. They all got the yellow label and 1 of them got a grade of 0.5 - I never knew a centerfold was missing in my ASM 129 that I bought at a con years ago and had Conway sign. So they definitely checked the books and did not grade based just on the cover. I got them in a timely fashion as well. The cases look great too. Nothing against CGC but my CBCS experience was great. I even got the new labels from CBCS which look awesome.

In the Bullpen Bulletins, Stan claims they took the Human Torch and Thing out of Strange Tales and Iron Man, Thor, Giant-man out of the Avengers out of concern for continuity in their over titles. One book per character. But that didn't last long.
I switched to back issues due to current issues not being good enough ( in my opinion), and price increases too. I am now Back Issue guy. 😢

Marvel and, to a lesser degree, DC always had inventory stories ready to go and I never felt cheated when the expected story didn't come through. In fact, the inventory stories were better than 99% of the muck that's published today.
The two Hercules miniseries and the concluding Graphic Novel are great SF/superhero material with unexpected tender moments.
To me, Kitty Pryde's solo story in Uncanny X-Men #143, where she fights the N'Garai demon on Christmas Eve, is much more memorable than her introduction (it's also Byrne/Austin's last issue as the regular art team).
Comics absolutely improved my vocabulary as a young reader!
Funny, I just found that X-Men 139 at the flea market for $5. It's about in Fine shape. I don't care for the cover though, but it's a nice book.
Hello guys, I just want to say that I've really started delving into your shows. I really love what you guys do. I have to say another funny thing I've noticed in my now 4 years of reading comic books that there's some sort of trend of evolution. As a reader I think some people start off. They get into marvel and then they graduate onto DC comics. Tell me why that is. Am I on target there?
Point of order - Rage could not change back and forth, he was stuck in big form. And he didn't tell anybody he was just a kid till it got out, and the Avengers downgraded him to reservist. Greg Land is the tracer, Greg Horn manages his porn shots all by himself. Guy next to Superman on that cover is no-name-fellow-rebel-guy.
I never thought of Hercules as Thor, but Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man always makes me think of Hawkeye from the comics. Cockey, jokes at the expense of others, with a chip on his shoulder.
Love that Marvel Premiere 49. I went to Scotland last year, and immediately after renting the car, i found a litttle comic shop that had the pence version of that book. I paid 7 pounds for it, and had a nice conversation with the owner where i understood every other word. Those memories make that book an untouchable part of my collection.
CBCS has essentially the same loophole in their process. Its an opportunity to improve transparency and process and steal market share. I would trust them over CGC at this point

I don't mean for this question to be rude but when certain people say "It's so good to finally have female representation in the Superhero realm" as they replace so many of our heroes with female surrogates," why don't more superhero fans like you guys remind them that representation has in fact always been there. Case in point Kitty Pride and her male fans, aka you guys. I feel like if more guys like you spoke up, they couldn't paint us all as misogynists. Am I missing something?
