James and Mitchell's story is probably one of my top 5 favorite stories in the series. The Vietnam War was happening in a time where racial tension was and still is the norm. Two men who were outed for their race became close friends, and defied military protocol to make sure that they would make it out of the war alive. The reunion was just a very powerful moment indeed. If it wasn't for James, Mitchell would have most likely died in the field of battle. This is a friendship that will truly last beyond a lifetime.
When I was 4 I fell from a table and literally cut my tongue in two with my teeth. When you get hurt like that your body won't even feel it when you go into shock. In the depiction of Tony's body on the bed and the gun on the floor, that doesn't add up either, yet no one mentions that. Both hands are laying on him, yet the guns 4 feet from his head and nowhere near either hand, nor is either hand said to be tested for gunpowder residue. I also didn't hear the police excuse for all the injuries Tony sustained as well.
There is no issue with the gun being found 4 feet from the body. Suicides by gunshot to the head yield many unexpected and unpredictable reactions by the body. Some people literally jump up, flop around into odd looking positions, and the onset of rigor mortis can change the positioning of the body, and even again once rigor wears off and tissue breakdown is picking up speed. I've investigated far more deaths than I expected during my law enforcement career. Suicides are sad and extremely traumatic for those left behind to think about their missing loved ones. My oldest son committed suicide a year and a week ago, in very similar circumstances as the young man in this video. It is truly more traumatizing than any other experience in my lifetime. I'm left with many questions that will never be answered, which brings me back to this case. Let there be no doubt about it, I know what the young man's parents feel as a result of their son's premature demise. It's so deeply painful and very very sad that no other broken bone or physical injury can come near the same level of pain. You don't want to believe your bright, good looking and very much loved son, loved by all who knew him, is gone forever and by his own hand. His parents are much too traumatized to form a clear picture and understanding of the totality of the circumstances contrubuting to making a decision that has permanent and irrevocable consequences. Therapeutic Touch has been debunked utterly to hell and back. It could never be shown to work under controlled conditions. This TV show had some great mysteries, but wow did they ever peddle baloney, too.
Just like a segment where this Russian guy can cure ALMOST anything from diseases, phobias and addictions to name a few. And the claims are that he had some special energy, but it was the same action as therapeutic touch.
Bart Stewart It’s great because it was actually completely debunked by an 8 year old girl for a school project. She would flip a coin to determine if a patient got Therapeutic Touch or no action, behind a barrier where the patient couldn’t see what happened. The results were identical to random chance.

The Vietnam war story is truly touching. It doesn't surprise me that the soldier that reached out to him was a black man, because at the time racial discrimination was even more prevalent than it is today. That's solidarity. A pointless war, but a lovely story. I'm glad they were reunited!

*Suspected Suicide* Police: We found traces of metal on his hands. Me: Ok? Did you run a GSR to see if he had weapon carbon on his hands, dipshits? 🤨 Everyone of these "possible suicide" cases never make ANY mention of running a GSR. Which should kind of be a given.
The death of Tony Lombardi sounds very enigmatic. I wonder at what time a medical examiner has determined he died? Was he cold to touch when first responders arrived? His family seems to believe that he was killed in his bed. If I were the killer, I wouldn't take the risk of bringing him back to his house since he lived with his parent or parents even if I wanted to make it look like his death is suicide. So has any of their neighbors heard a gun shot? Have they seen a suspicious car? He is too young to die. But he seems to have had a risky life style if he was seeing three women at the same time.
Forensically, Tony's cause of death should be easy to determine whether or not it was a suicide. All the investigators had to do was check his hands for gun powder residue. Case solved.
There is just not enough info or evidence given for the viewing audience to successfully determine what exactly happened to Tony. It was mentioned that Tony had three lady friends he was seeing. They didn't specifically state that he was romantically involved with them. Perhaps Tony was gay or bisexual, and was targeted because of that? Many things in this case don't add up.
A viewer in San Bernadino, California, retired Lt. Col. Truman Plants, tracked down James Pearson; he is now living in Chicago, Illinois. A few weeks later, James, his fiancee, and his two grown daughters flew to Hawaii to be reunited with Mitchell and his family. Mitchell and his family were finally able to thank James for saving Mitchell's life.
@@noneofyourbusiness6193 So what's the point replying back to this person then? Out of all the comments here that is legit you want to waste your time talking to a troll. Learn how to ignore dumbass
Some cops/detectives are just plain incompetent. "We got to just deal with the facts that this was a suicide". Saying this while Not conducting a GPR test on Tony's hands, the fact that Tony had a broken jaw, cuts/abrasions, bruises and the bullet trajectory was off All make it seems that there was foul play involved.
You're assuming that none of this was investigated by the cops. Both the Coroner and DA's office (both of whom also have investigative powers as well) also concluded it was a suicide. So either the Coroner's and DA's offices are also as lazy and incompetent as the Police, or a real investigation took place and concluded it was a suicide.
@@sergeiyzerman7240 Nope, Not assuming at all. There are many cases where cops automatically rule a death a suicide without further investigate (after watching 1000s of true crime shows). Thus some LEO/DAs ARE Lazy.
So, a 22 year old man decided to commit suicide lying down in bed, this makes zero sense. No, Tony did not commit suicide and the police department needs to stop acting incompetent. It's upsetting to hear them say that.
Like the 3 other stories I know of on this show where the cops were either incompetent or just covering up. Kid who goes hunting and never came home; a good cop in a small New Mexico town dead after arresting a local weed grower; and the kid who got locked up in Jackson, MS, all died by suicide per the cops.
That first story about therapeutic touch was nice for me. I've been in holistic health for 30 years and when she got to the emotional shock that caused that woman's asthma, that was confirming for me. The work I do now with EFT can more easily find those triggers. These people willing to do that early work gave us a great foundation.
The Therapeutic Touch is also considered Reiki. It is an very old modality of healing that does work. I had experienced stage IV brain cancer & my mother knew a Reiki guide. She did distant work & hands on with me. It offered a feeling of comfort & tranquility that no other form of healing can. The fantastic part is that I went into early remission and my oncologist was so elated. And, this is just part of it. Shine on!
Why haven’t I ever heard of therapeutic touch!? I’m assuming this was something popular back in the late 80s-early 90s that never really took off. If it had then we’d hear a lot more about it.

"He was seeing 3 women, one of whom was already living with a man..."
There's your killer.
Never heard 'baloney' being used so eloquently.
James Pearson....just, wow.
Aw, man, the Mitchell / James reunion did NOT disappoint. 😭😭😭
Therapeutic touch is about as funny as the practice itself.
Bart Stewart It’s great because it was actually completely debunked by an 8 year old girl for a school project. She would flip a coin to determine if a patient got Therapeutic Touch or no action, behind a barrier where the patient couldn’t see what happened. The results were identical to random chance.
I normally skip over stories of UFO's or hauntings.
I think its just our own bodies healing itself because the people who have had it believed in it,they believed and had faith in it and that I believe makes our bodies do what it needs to do to heal,I feel we as humans are capable of far more than what most believe.
Thank You Unsolved Mysteries 💜

My dad was in that war and he told me the American beat him up for no reason because he's Asian. y we are in the same army still this day all my family is in the military. glad my dad is ok he got shot in the head but he Survive
I'm glad your dad survived the war
They can have this damn intro music on this show, lol. That shit is for the birds, lol. I’m 31 And STILL scared just as much as I was as a child. I turn the volume down when I know they are about to play the music through the show, lol... I keep the intro turned down just enough to hear it but not be scared. Lol. Whoever came up with the intro music... they should’ve gotten an Emmy alone for this creepy ass shit, lol.
The Vietnam war story is truly touching. It doesn't surprise me that the soldier that reached out to him was a black man, because at the time racial discrimination was even more prevalent than it is today. That's solidarity.
A pointless war, but a lovely story. I'm glad they were reunited!
Yep! War that never should have happened what so ever! B.S. rich politician's war!!!
What a great man for Mitchell to include him with his friends at such a time when even being friends with Japanese Americans was looked down upon. This man was willing to lay down his life for America, and still got mocked for it Mitchell is an angel, and these are 2 brave soldiers. What a great story.
@@Icarusvampire Amen.
Oliver Stone needs to make a movie on this

James and Mitchell Story Pure Happiness and Pure Joy
The James Pearson/Mitchell Shigemoto story is one of my favorites in the entire run of "Unsolved Mysteries".
For David Vierra to only get 15-years for killing his wife that's sad to me.
*Suspected Suicide*
Police: We found traces of metal on his hands.
Me: Ok? Did you run a GSR to see if he had weapon carbon on his hands, dipshits? 🤨
Everyone of these "possible suicide" cases never make ANY mention of running a GSR.
Hum, when suicide's assumed as the cause of death Many tests arent performed not Even an autopsy
Tony got killed by one of his Misresses BF.
The welcome sign and tears James received in Hawaii by Mitchell and his family was so beautiful. I cried like a baby 😢❤❤ Simply amazing
Too bad voicemails couldn't be saved back then. And who commits suicide in the nude?!? I agree with his parents.
It was suicide
Marilyn Monroe did if you believe that shit! 😒
Constable: He was nude.
Sherlock Holmes: It was clearly murder then.
No shit Sherlock. I will never understand why idiots write this

@@noneofyourbusiness6193 So what's the point replying back to this person then? Out of all the comments here that is legit you want to waste your time talking to a troll. Learn how to ignore dumbass
It is so damaging when they do positive stories on utter crap like therapeutic touch, it is an absurdity.
..,.nah .....
Pure laziness!
@@jeremyashton5040 yes..,and look up the qualifications of being a coroner in most states; u will be stunned.
they are lazy. easier to call it a suicide than do any detective work.
I love James and Mitchell’s story it made me cry ... god bless them 🥺❤️
So, a 22 year old man decided to commit suicide lying down in bed, this makes zero sense.
Find it odd that he had received known death threats.
Crazed man in pickup: WHERE DO YOU LIVE?
Me: 🤷🏾♀️
That first story about therapeutic touch was nice for me. I've been in holistic health for 30 years and when she got to the emotional shock that caused that woman's asthma, that was confirming for me. The work I do now with EFT can more easily find those triggers. These people willing to do that early work gave us a great foundation.
Piano playing like a boss!
Shine on!
James and Mitchell 😭 Salute ❤️❤️
💯👍💥
Don't marry your cousin.
20:18 "At the time of his death, Tony was seeing 3 different women, one of whom was already living with a man."
There's your answer.
Especially with a death threat about it on the answering machine!
25:37 Tony should've said "None of your punk ass's business!"
True. Big mistake he made there.
I agree with Tony's parents.
Incompetence, a coverup or a police rush to judgement.
I don't
Why haven’t I ever heard of therapeutic touch!? I’m assuming this was something popular back in the late 80s-early 90s that never really took off. If it had then we’d hear a lot more about it.
Cause it’s hog wash
Best music, best host
Fighting for Vietnam's freedom when they wasn't even free themselves
The irony!
It wasn't about freedom. It was about imperialism.
The actor playing the baby's father with the moustache in the first story reminds me of Guillermo from Jimmy Kimmel's show........
Lmao!! Omg! Yes!! I love Guillermo!! Lol.
Really? 😂
Tony was so handsome. Sad case.☹️
The cops are such liars. They never admit when they screw up. No way would he kill himself nude.
yeah tony was a great guy. cheating on two women, with one woman who was married
lol ya, its funny how they talk about it like its a positive personality trait.
That poor woman's parents were idiots. It's not a disgrace to dump an abusive spouse.
lol the next day at the plastic surgeon !! name one plastic surgeon you can book an appointment the next day

Ricki-Sue King no, it wasn’t. He lost the TIP of his finger. And my point still stands, this kid is DRAMATIC. People lose their entire arms and legs and they live fulfilling lives.

marriage between cousins seems to have been universal. Why come to America and insist on living as if in another country?

And if the Columbus police seriously think that Tony Lombardi committed suicide over a simple drunk driving charge.....I wonder if one of the women he was seeing was a cops wife or daughter?
