the WDP4 is so refined for a diesel locomotive, and I've never seen any smoky emission from it.

IMHO this may be the result of painstaking maintenance by competent technical staff. Diesels are clean only if kept finely adjusted. Else...

Thanks! It was a great experience considering that this was my first ride behind an electric loco in the Wadi-Bangalore section. Also, my first trip on the Bangalore Rajdhani. I have traveled in both diesel and elec-hauled Rajdhanis but the WAP7-Raj was my first as well. So, yes, lot of firsts :-) :-)

Don't you miss the diesel link for the train? I mean, that's what made me love it in the first place, (Not that I have a huge problem with an E-Loco), but it's one of the highlights of the SBC Raj in my opinion.

This was my first journey on the Bangalore Rajdhani, hence, I didn't really miss the diesel link. It was also my first experience in an elec-hauled train in the Wadi-Gooty-SBC section, hence, a welcome change from the past.
