    Also, I just had to stop in Austin to see the Austin tiny homes called Village Farm Austin for a tour. There's a sneak peek of this beautiful property and a full video tour of the tiny home village is coming up soon. Make sure you subscribe and hit the notification bell so you know when it comes out.

    Probably feels so good to be back to your home sweet home! Bummer about your trip with Dani! Looks like you crazy girls still had a good time! I have some sad news to share. My sweet Daisy passed away a couple weeks ago. I now understand what you were going through losing your sweet Lily! I’m lost without her! Grateful I was with her when she died! I made an appointment for her on a Friday afternoon at 5:00 to put her to sleep. It was the last possible time before I had to go back to work on Saturday. She couldn’t walk the last few days so I knew it was time. She passed away during the night Friday morning. My biggest fear was her dying by herself while I was at work but I was with her. I took the last two weeks of January off so I got to spend the last 2 wks of her life with her 24/7. Grateful she didn’t have any health issues until the last year of her life! So grateful I had her for 16 happy years! ❤

      Oh Sandra I’m so sorry to hear about Daisy. My heart breaks for you. I love that you were able to take the time off to be with her during her final days and as she crossed over to the rainbow bridge. Big hugs to you my friend. It’s not easy as you have seen from me. I still cry for her almost daily. The deep sharp pain will slowly go away over time but until then, you cry as much as you want and grieve her loss. She’s your baby. Your love for her will always be there and hers for you.

    Just a thought from a retired military veteran: turn your van around as quickly as possible so that you can quickly get underway in the event you need to evacuate from some event worse than a bad winter storm.
    Possible reasons: train derailment, hazmat incident nearby or upwind of your location, hurricane season starts 01May, nuclear power plant incident, etc.
    Every place has it’s STOBOR.

    It seems that Lenscrafters and most other mall eyeglasses retailers are owned by the Italian company, Luxottica, which also bought up several eyewear manufacturers, including Ray-Ban. It's definitely a bit of a monopoly that lets them both jack up the price and keep most of the profits.

  • @katbyrd9299
    @katbyrd9299 Рік тому

    I’ve been in optical for 22 years. Warby Parker, like most of the “nation wide” places are known in the biz as “push-button opticians”
    They upsold you on 3 frames- a good optician can get you into a d-seg or e-line lens AND a narrow bridge without any problems. Finding a good optician is getting harder each year - the old school of actually understanding the science behind good eye care becoming more difficult.

    • @storychasing
      @storychasing  Рік тому +1

      KatByrd9 😊 Actually they didn't sell me 3 frames. I wanted 3 frames. 2 are for distance and I just wanted 2 different styles and the computer frames were of my own doing. I could have kept my current frames for the computer but because my prescription had changed slightly I went ahead and got the new ones. They had recommended progressives to me, but I don't like progressives. The bridge of my nose is so narrow that I constantly push up my frames no matter what material it is. It's been that way my whole life. I've been to all kinds of opticians all over the U.S. and still, nobody could ever fix the narrow bridge problem. What optician do you recommend that can actually fix all this? Thanks for the info.

    • @katbyrd9299
      @katbyrd9299 Рік тому

      I highly recommend finding an established optometrist/optician in the Dallas area- a place that has been around a while and has great reviews. Folks over 50 should be more “old school” and that is what you want. These places have years of experience that cannot be taught and have seen it all. I can tell you there are metal frames that are more easily adjusted to combat your narrow nasal issue and plenty of nose pads that can help correct this.
      The “big box” shops are concerned with volume. The established places are truly more one on one.
      I recommend doing your due diligence - you will NEVER regret it.
      A poorly fitted frame/lens can do harm - and no one wants that.
      And …. With van life -consider Transitions lenses (getting in and out of your car) for a changeable lens without having to change frames to RX sunglasses.
      And… talk to your Dr. about a
      d-seg or e-line lens. I cannot adapt to progressives either - I have the “line” for reading and actually I like the distinct change - you can have an “all in one “ pair of glasses - just seek it out.
      And if your computer frames are solely for that one task - it’s good to have a separate pair -used only for that task.
      I hope that all helps 💖💚

      I would love a tiny house in a small community but like having a space for messy projects and would want solar or some way to be independent from infrastructure. Lack of income tax is also appealing. Have thought of buying a rural property in New Hampshire. I put up a pole Barn here in Maryland large enough to hold my camper and enough space that could have included most of what I would want for stick such as bath, kitchenette, eating/entertaining/hobby. That cost $35,000 with electric but no water or sewer. There is a county in Colorado that allows limited permit compliance. I would like to check that out. I don’t know if pole barn construction could work in areas with a lot of rock in the soil. I love that building though and herd that if I had put solar on at time I built. The construction cost could be used to get tax credit as a support structure. I am definitely a Yankee when thinking about costs.

    If you hzvdnt done it you don’t realize what a long drive corpus to DFW is. Sbout 8 hours depending upon where in DFW you’re going. At least 35?is better now. I’m almost 70 and it’s been under construction my whole life. I live in Rockport (just north of corpus and my sister lives in midlothian south of Dallas. Driving across Texas is a lot of driving. Miles and miles. I don’t really drive anymore but am a passenger snd that can be exhausting.
    We were lucky on the coast so mzz as my of my friends in austin. Had their trees x as Bd property torn up eith the ice snd nonn B power for days. We aren’t use to this

    Tiny house is meant to save money. A $60K tiny house defeats the purpose.

      These homes are well over $100K, and the lot rent...right now...in $750 and will only go up. It's the lot rent that will kill you with either a manufactured home, or a tiny home, unless you put it on your own land.
      Five years ago these homes weren't as cheap as $60K. They're closer to $200K...plus that exorbitant lot rent.

All I own isn't going to add up to half what a tiny house cost. 2 min I'm getting groceries from Walmart. I have a 30' camper on my property to boot. Taxes are $
