"touhou 9... (i mean category) touhou 10" you're not wrong but I don't know how to feel about it. Also there are a lot of people who play for the characters or story, mostly because most of the people who are into touhou are not there because of the games, so I guess touhou 6 could be 1 category up

Absolutely agreed on Perfect Cherry Blossom. It doesn't overcomplicate things and instead has a mechanic that actively encourages you to try your best to just dodge instead of using a safety bomb just to at least not use a life for a short duration. And it's just an overall incredibly fun and memorable game, right down to the difficulty spikes (the sisters with Sakuya are a rude awakening).
I'm really on team "start with Touhou 6", not in spite of but because of the hitbox. The thing that will make you go from a bullet hell noob to a competent player is the ability to almost never look at your ship, and focus instead on the pattern that you will have to dodge. A visible hitbox will have tendency to attract the eye of the less experienced player, leaving him not be able to anticipate the bullets that are coming to get him.
I really like your rankings to be honest. I put 6 and 14 in the equivalent positions you put 7 and 10. But I think your placements are probably better. Hard agree on the placements and reasons for both 11 and 12 being in psycho tier.
I did my first CC on 10 and it was a blast because of the music, then I went for 11, it was a blast, but I suffered and died 1 time to Okuu and went directly to 18 lmao

LoLK Pointdevice mode is great for beginners tbh, it really forces them to learn from patterns and look for easy solutions.

Mai and Satono can piss off... also even as a second game Subterranean Animism kicked my butt, I struggled so hard just to get that first 1CC.
I mean TD isn’t that baaaaad. But I agree on PCB a lot because it’s what got me into the series when I was but a wee baby
