Living in the UK, charity shopping is one of the most hit or miss activities. Like you get to learn which ones the good ones are but there’s absolutely no logic to it 😅
As a longtime viewer who works near some of these shops and went to uni near the others, this is a very wild crossover episode and I love it sm!! These exact charity shops were a huge part of my secondhand fashion journey, as was this channel, so this is a lovely little full circle moment 💜
I’d love to see you style these pieces! Also the collared t shirt is from Mango. I’m not sure if you have Mango in the US but it’s in the same family as H&M and Monki, but higher prices and higher quality, aimed at a more mature audience (ie late 20s+), kind of like Zara’s workwear!
100% need to go to a kilo sale !! They’re amazing there’s one in liverpool in the uk Also the vintage store in liverpool city centre is amazing and along with bold street it’s 100% worth the visit
Route 66 is Kmart. That flower dress was so cute on you. You should have gotten the floral shorts. You could have taken them in. You are amazing with the sewing.
I’ve never been second hand shopping in the uk because I moved when I was little and I always wondered what it was like and it seems pretty much the same as in New Zealand. It’s mostly small second hand shops like that here and they’re almost exclusively donated to by middle age and older women. All the stuff is like older lady clothes or it’s really damaged. And no vintage stuff, it’s all like modern middle aged women clothing. I think most people here will have hand me downs if the item is still in good condition to younger siblings or younger cousins. Also, in general I think we have less cute clothes. Like Target in America has genuinely cute trendy clothes, our closest equivalent (The Warehouse) never has cute clothes. It’s always like 2 years behind in trends and also the clothes feel like they’re mostly for older women. So it seems like it’s pretty similar in the UK. Maybe a bit better because regular clothing stores tend to have more trendy clothing in the UK than in New Zealand. I went second hand shopping at 4 charity shops here with my mum and grandma and out of all the stores I only found one skirt that I liked lol. Luckily it fit me so I got it. That was the only item I found out of everything that I liked. My mum and grandma found stuff though because it was all their style.
I immediately recognised that it was Cambridge as I've been to all of them charity shops and I live here. I was like wait that looks like Oxfam next to Grafton and it is XD
I literally live in London and I’ve been looking for a charity shop like trade and the fact that I didn’t know about Shepherd’s Bush is honestly devastating 🙂
You should see if there’s a kilo sale next time you come to the UK - they’re more warehouse/bigger space vibes and you pay like £15 for a KILO of clothes… they’re great and usually have loads of vintage pieces
Hi! I’m italian, but i’m in england very often, and i love charity shops but the best are in small towns or cities, not in london.. in London charity shops are more expensive and chaotic, i found gems in the smaller ones, i’m in love with london of course ❤
Oh my gosh! I’m from London + used to live in Cambridge and literally know all of the places you went to! North and central London is super expensive for thrifting, but next time you should go to south London places like Lewisham and Peckham car boot. I would happily be a tour guide! Love your finds ❤
I LOVE charity shops. I personally find it nicer to have the smaller sized stores as I tend to find the big thrift shops too overwhelming. When I lived in Oxford I loved popping in and finding the best pieces for a few pounds!! And indeed when you go to smaller towns you will find lower prices.
Great video! Just remember when you say “US” that California is very different from the rest of the US😁 many places in the US don’t have warehouse thrift stores and these UK stores are very similar to what we have!
You probably hit Cambridge at the right time for jackets. The charity shopping there is bound to be student heavy, and they wouldn’t have come back from summer break yet. Obviously a good time to go! 😊
Fun video. Route 66 is a K-Mart brand. In the part of Texas I live in during the 70s, and early 80s we didn't have a mall or Wal-Mart. We did a lot of shopping at K-Mart and Route 66 was very popular.
Also yeah in the uk we have a difference between charity shops and retro and vintage shops. They are just expensive charity shops thou 🤣 the best ones are I small towns around the outside of London the beds, bucks and shires, also some good student areas. I shop kilo retro warehouses sometimes but rarely shop the small boutique vintage shops as its overpriced. Because rich students can now afford it and the the whole y2k want to wear tracksuits that make them look a little chavy 🤣
Great Haul!! I believe Route 66 is OG K-Mart brand rather than Walmart. Y’all might be too young to even remember K-Marts. You should wear the white top with the Peter Pan collar under the Pink strap dress- so cute.
Alexa nearly starting the second Revolutionary War between American and England due to the loud American accent she displayed while in that UK thrift shop could have pushed a lot of accidentally shown belly buttons.
I have always wondered what charity shopping in the UK was like! Love the denim dress, the overalls, and the floral bloomer shorts you found. And I’m obsessed with the quilted purple jacket, white dress, and Peter Pan collared shirt you were gifted. Also, your hair is the absolute cutest in this video, Alexa!
If you’re still in the UK, I’d definetelu reccomend visiting a car bootsale whilst you’re here. Definitely my favourite & least expensive way to shop second hand 😊
Route 66 is Kmart! I remember having the coolest dark blue tie dye shirt in that brand, and it was my absolute favorite shirt. Had a ton of other clothing in the brand as well because we shopped there a ton when I was in middle school. Also, looked it up and kmart is still selling that brand online!
Good morning Alexa happy Thursday morning and I loved your vlogs and I'm glad you enjoyed in London and I just wanted to say that you are amazing Supporter
If u happen to come to the cambridge kinda area next time they normally have kilo sales in St Pauls Church like 20 quid per kilo, theres a good bootsale in Fordham every other sunday and love love love the charity shops in bury st edmunds, sudbury, braintree and the shops in cambridge down mill road, alot cuter, cheaper and less busy
Welcome to the UK. Charity shops vary all over! As I live in an affluent area about an hour's train from Central London prices can be quite high. I recommend checking out charity shops anywhere on the coast, usually much cheaper.
This is so weird I was watching the part in London and thought I'm going to comment you should come to Cambridge! We have a lot more that just those few as well
The charity shops you hit in London were expensive ones lol - Shepard’s bush is west London so is a little pricier so is Notting hill and a pretty posh area - the vintage shop there is superrrrr overpriced ! Also near lots of students so kind of over picked :)
Omg I live 20 minutes from shepherd's bush and even closer to portobello and go all the time, I'm from SoCal and miss the California style thrift store and especially consignment stores. So cool to see your impression of the UK secondhand scene! But literally I've been in every shop you show in London it's crazy haha.
those little charity shops are exactly like the second hand shops here in Australia! we call them op shops (opportunity shops)! We rarely have big warehouse op shops and when we do they’re called superstores haha! love everything you picked up!
So so glad you had success in our charity shops!!❤️ definitely come further north when you come next time, we have some great small towns with wonderful charity shops (bit cheaper too!) and DEFINITELY do a car boot sale! You could also do a kilo sale too!
Thrifting in London has been a dream of me ever since I started thrifting two years ago. Thank you for letting me living my dream a little bit through your video.
Oh my GOSH! I was also just in London on holiday, and I saw that SAME gorgeous flower sweater at Royal Trinity Hospice but it was too small for me 😢. So funny!!! Love the video and re-living my trip too ❤️
Come to Brighton! They have 100s of charity and vintage shops down here and I think you'd love it here, there are loads of small business and quirky shops
Thrifting in the UK looks quite similar to thrifting in the Netherlands (at least in city centres). We do have some bigger charity shops, called 'Kringloop' shops, often outside the cities or in the outskirts, but nothing like the American warehouse thrift stores. It's my dream to travel to America just for the thrift shops I see in your videos haha.
So much fun! I'm living vicariously through these videos. I really want to visit the UK one day! And that pink jacket is the cutest thing ever! Love love love these videos with Carrie.
omg so cool that you went to notting hill, I live there! next time you come to London the train on Westbourne grove in notting hill is literally the b e s t charity shop I've ever been in so I highly recommend!!!
next time i recommend going to like Swindon or Oxford, such beautiful places, not sure about their chairty shops, but im from Australia and every time ive gone there, justg fall more in love with the country ahah x
Omggg... That lilac jacket!! It's just absolutely beautiful. BTW I'm from London, and I've never been to Trade... I'm definitely checking that place out. Glad you girls had a great time 💜💜
💕 Captions are live 💕 Also ALL the addresses for the charity shops/vintage stores I went to are in the description!
Alexa I m recieving strange messages from you. Just letting you know XXX

Ah 🥹 that means so much!!!
Mango is a spanish brand, nothing to do with H&M. But, you are right about the mature audience and higher prices. ✌️
& other stories (which is very similar to mango) is the one that’s owned by H&M :)
I think this was absolutely your best haul! Everything you got fits you perfect and is so cute but also very classic and versatile.
I’m seriously in love with everything!!
100% need to go to a kilo sale !! They’re amazing there’s one in liverpool in the uk Also the vintage store in liverpool city centre is amazing and along with bold street it’s 100% worth the visit
Definitely next time!! 🙌🏼
Route 66 is Kmart. That flower dress was so cute on you. You should have gotten the floral shorts. You could have taken them in. You are amazing with the sewing.
The quilted jackets are everything!!
I'm so glad you came to the uk and was able to experience the joy of charity shops 😁 it's my fav thing to do on a Sunday 😁
Oh my goodness so many amazing pieces!! I especially love the pastel and more feminine pieces🌸 also the pieces from Alex are *chef’s kiss*🤌
I love everything but I love you two queens together the most 🥰💜
❤️❤️❤️❤️
omg you are in the UK. this is so surreal to watch! 😊

Got you ! 😉💕
Where do you live ? You can do so much better then Shepherd’s Bush 😅
@@samsingline6586 hi i’m in London too, what is a good place to go charity shop hunting? Thank youuu ❤
Neext time you go look for overflow stores, I worked in one and everything was a pound I got so much good stuff there.
Omg I just went to exactly all these shops in England! Hope you had the best time!
Also you need to check out Bath!
We call the home section in charity stores bric-a-brac ✨
So many good pieces love the denim and the purple quilted jacket! 🙂💖
I am from England and I only buy charity shop clothes but I notice cancer research is the most expensive one I believe. Has anyone notice that.
Loved loved your finds!!
Omg your pieces were so good!!!
Wow, the denim finds!
I'm still AMAZED
I loved the UK such a cool place and the best clothes
As someone who volunteers in Oxfam welcome to the UK again aha :D
Those overalls are everything 😁
You and Carrie are the cutest!!
those overalls (dungarees since your in UK!) are precious on you!
Love it and everything ❤ 💕 ♥. Keep up great work. Lots of love
Route 66 brand is Kmart
All this denim! So good!
I don’t know how I found so many good denim pieces !!
my fav duo!😊
Rubyyy….a pleasant surprise
Did you go to primark?
Route 66 was a K-Mart brand back in the day.
Route 66 was old K Mart
What brand is your white top your wearing from the thrifting review?
It’s thrifted but originally h&m ❤️
Route 66 was K-Mart :)
❤😊
Did you see the queen‘s funeral?
You should see if there’s a kilo sale next time you come to the UK - they’re more warehouse/bigger space vibes and you pay like £15 for a KILO of clothes… they’re great and usually have loads of vintage pieces

Assolutamente d'accordo! Peccato che invece in Italia i negozi vintage/usato siano così costosi. Si compra bene solo nei mercati.
LOVE!!! let's go back 🥺❤🇬🇧
Oh my gosh! I’m from London + used to live in Cambridge and literally know all of the places you went to! The trick to UK thrifting is to go to charity shops in affluent villages/towns. Thats where all the good stuff are 😉
Fun video. Route 66 is a K-Mart brand. In the part of Texas I live in during the 70s, and early 80s we didn't have a mall or Wal-Mart. We did a lot of shopping at K-Mart and Route 66 was very popular.
Exactly what I was going to say. Fellow Texan
I worked at Kmart 😢. Yes Route 66 was a 90s Kmart brand
💟 Pretty sure the brand Route 66 jeans are from Kmart!!! Looks like such a fabulous thrifting experience! Thanks for sharing 💟💜💟

The pink dress!! So precious on you & a 10/10 for running through flower fields

That denim dress is 100% phoebe vibes! Or miss honey!
I'm pretty sure I have this EXACT white Peter pan collar shirt 😂😂 love everything you got ❤️ you should come thrifting in France one-day ;)
No way Alexa's been in the charity shops I go to in Cambridge 😭😭❤️
!!!!! you got some good ones 😉
Route 66 is Kmart! I remember having the coolest dark blue tie dye shirt in that brand, and it was my absolute favorite shirt. Thrifting in London has been a dream of me ever since I started thrifting two years ago. Thank you for letting me living my dream a little bit through your video.
That floral dress really suited you!
Who else is a UK size 8 or 10 and there's not many clothes in that size?
Oh my GOSH! I was also just in London on holiday, and I saw that SAME gorgeous flower sweater at Royal Trinity Hospice but it was too small for me 😢. So funny!!! Love the video and re-living my trip too ❤️
prolly the best thrifting video i’ve watched in a long time, that light pink jacket omg 💕
Come to Brighton! They have 100s of charity and vintage shops down here and I think you'd love it here, there are loads of small business and quirky shops
I went last time i was in the UK and it was super fun! ❤️ hope to go back the next time I’m in the uk though to explore more of it
Those Route 66 jeans are 👌🏼! They’re an old school KMart brand lol
The denim dress gasp and overalls 💛 the pink dress, little white dress and ruffle shorts, all the finds are really fab
This was like one of my favorite trips I’ve ever done!! Like so many gems ❤️
In Love for your happy, beautiful purchase.
Those jeans are such a find!! I’m jealous😹 Loved this video, Alexa. I hope your time in England was amazing
Your hair looks very nice lose!!!!! No braids, no barrettes, no headbands!!! So pretty!
Route 66 was from Kmart back in the day -- that was my jam when I was a pre-teen 😎

These are my local charity shops in Shepherds Bush as I go to fashion uni there! I've been watching you for ages and I can't believe I didn't see you!
Omg really!! It was so cool exploring over there and definitely was surprised at how good traid was!
