- We all know the streets of New York are dirty, but how much of those germs are we really carrying into our homes? CBS2's Doug Williams has a look at the one thing we should all be doing before stepping foot indoors.
This information is so timely; I've been telling my family about this for years and so now I just shared this link with everyone in my household.
@Deme Trius Sadly
Wearing shoes inside your home is peak filthy. Smh
That's why you don't wear shoes in the house and clean your dogs paws and privates after every walk.
In most countries, the idea of not taking your shoes off when entering home is so bizzare.
Cuz those nasty dog owners letting their pets poop all over the place and don't pick it up
Don’t forget about the homeless people also poop wherever they feel like
It’s mainly the homeless drug addicts
The best way to avoid it is to leave NYC as fast as you can and never return to that armpit of a City.
Fines should be tripled, maybe the owners could be trained better that way.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to train homeless people?
I don't understand why some Americans wear shoes in their homes
Because it's been part of our culture for decades. What kind of stupid question is this?
@@zebraCAkes201 just ignorance
It's just easier then removing shoes, especially, in nasty weather...while carrying groceries, kids..laptop...lunch boxes...
NYC sidewalks are full of sh!t. No kidding!
You can take your shoes off, but your dogs paws are still filthy
I used to work in the upper east side in the really posh Park Ave area. I used to have to walk looking down at the ground because rich people would let their dogs poop right in the middle of the sidewalk and just keep going. It’s everywhere and disgusting. I live in Queens where you find middle class, working class and poor people and I don’t see it there. I’ve only seen that habit among the very wealthy that feel they are above cleaning up behind their pats.
I used to work downtown in the Financial District, which has since become more of a residential area: I had to literally step over, or around dog poop. That was on the way to work in the morning. The people who live down there couldn't care less about proper hygiene.
Dog poop is the least of your worries.
@@veritorossiwhich is the worry then?
That’s why we don’t wear shoes in the house and always clean my dogs paws after every walk.
Also, unfortunately, human poop from the homeless
Cities should spray down all sidewalks and streets with water and a little bleach
We in the AAPI community have been doing this for eons… Yet we are deemed as filthy…
Germs float in the air, germs pretty much everywhere ‘come on’. 🕵🏽🤦🏽♂️
Imagine putting "Sh" in front of City.
What about dogs who carry the germs on their paws?
Absolutely disgusting and before worrying about carrying bacteria home, remember you’re probably breathing in some of the bacteria dust as cars drives by or if there’s some wind. I remember once in San Francisco smelling pungent foul urine like smell as a bus drove by close to the sidewalk. I’ve never been to Japan but apparently even in populated Tokyo, they manage to keep the streets clean. It’s a matter of the right systems in place (People, even homeless people must excrete waste several times a day, that is not negotiable) and cultural attitudes as well. I remember seeing a Japanese host rebuking a westerner for dropping bits of food on the sidewalk while he munched on a slice of pizza on a YT video. Thought she was overly sensitive and a bit rude but in hindsight it must be their culture. Dropping a few tiny pieces/crumbs of pizza toppings outside doesn’t seem like a big deal to a westerner but to Japanese it may be like dropping bits of food inside a home. And they are right food rots and bacteria grows even on sidewalks.
Are you telling me most people do not get this already and track into their home?
when i see people go to run errands in sandals , no socks, and then go back home and track that filth everywhere. or lay in bed with the same footwear.....some people are different
No socks is not necessarily a bad thing in summer.
Ever thought of the amount of filthy germs that socks contain and go straight up to your washing machine, mixing with the rest of clothing? And these filthy germs stay in the washing machine afterwards.
I wonder what you would find in the streets of places like san fran.
So I suppose I shouldn't have walked 2 blocks from The Barrymore Theater back to our hotel in bare feet after taking off my heels that were just too tight to walk in?? 🤣 Of course I knew I was risking my life - haha - but the pain was unbearable so I took my chances and immediately showered after! I must say, however, that I was impressed with the fact that I didn't so much as step on a pebble the whole way! Obviously the streets are dirty - but in terms of debris, they were pristine. At least those two blocks on that particular Summer night. I was lucky for sure.
So poop germs live in poop
Who would have known?
Test the puddles on any dairy farm.
Here I was, thinking this was worldwide knowledge.
Now one seems to agnolidge the fact that animals don't wear shoes.
So, animals who are outdoors, coming home, well guess what they bring along on their paws and fure!
Have a clean day, everyone.
We need the Japanese system to put out shoes in
Wow, what a surprise…
I swear it’s like they don’t want to say dog poop is the cause of this I hope they bring back no pets allowed buildings
Damn people got time for this.
You must be a pitbull owner, that leaves dogshit all over the neighborhood, if this bothers you! 🤣🤣🤣
What about the rat problem
heres to me thinking taking your shoes off inside was normal. but i have lived in the hood a bit and some places are so dirty and bug infested your socks would be black if you didnt wear shoes
Maybe because this city is inhabited by animals, dirtier than the Subway.
Maurice says “stay home.”
They act like this is new.
What's the news.? Was it not like that in the past?
Do you remember such amount of dog feces on the streets 30 years ago? Or dogs.
Ummmmm just use Lysol on your shoes. Also people Don't forget to buy Socks this season, Buy them in Bundles.
This has been a common practice amongst asians, any to be fair n we’ve or I atleast have been told its weird we do it since growing up
Chinese, korean and Japanese have been removing outdoor shoes forever.
Too much fffffin dog shit with poor owners lol 😂
I don’t understand why this is news to people wen this streets are so filthy🤷🏼♀️ this has been a practice in my fam for centuries and more wen we moved to this city! Not sitting on sofas and beds with the clothes u came from outside as well☑️Hope this news brings some common sense to people🤝👍🏾🙏
Why is this news?? EVERY CITY IN THE WORLD has sidewalks with poop. Dogs, people, birds, rats. etc---
Oh, really what other cities in the world where most of people walking theirs dogs !!!
Leave your shoes outside
I did but neighbors🐕chewed them up.
In China it's called home sweet home
Imagine the viruses being born there?
It’s the yt people keep putting their shoes/feet on seats and read book like smart
From rats
LOL NO "SHIT" SHERLOCK
Muslims don’t wear shoes in the home, along with many cultures. Often when traditions are abandoned, so is common sense, sadly.
Also, Muslims take off theirs shoes at mosques and clean themselves with water for praying.
I don’t wear shoes in the house, seems like common sense. It is hard to tell if you step in something disgusting, and end up tracking it around in a kitchen or bedroom. Nasty
Yes and Muslim guest will automatically remove their shoes before entry the house. We pray in homes so no one wants dirt floors. Asians culture are the same they remove their shoes and you get some nice slippers 🩴 in my house also I have many slippers just for the guests
Muslims ain’t shit
Do they need a prize?
You should also your dogs tush and wash its feet.
😂are we supposed to be surprised at this? Maybe t’s just me because I lived in a large city but seeing drugged out and/or homeless people shit and pee all the time on sidewalks I’m like..yeah no study was needed. That’s why they gotta clean the streets in the morning a
Idk why people get mad when you bring a bike in the train? Ghetto ass city !!!
People poop.
Here in ridgewood queens nyc it's a freaking rat pandemic
Asking visitors to remove shoes is some what odd in the U.S.
First they think oh😦this wanna be snob..posh human is asking to me to take off my Manolo Blahnik, Louboutin...👞👢? To expose my ugly, smelly, holes in my socks?🤭
It be easier if everyone had a nice mud room, where you step in, sit, remove shoes in a warm room, put on slippers that you took out of some fancy storage cabinet and walk in like you own the world😑🤣😂
No sh*t
They're called democrats
99% of it is from the homeless
