I just watched your video on your incredible storm rescues, watching such selfless acts of bravery was truly moving. Having said I think the idea of rescuing a possibly feral cat would strike deeper fear into me.
I totally respect you lifeboat men and women who risk your life for the love of the job and its a good job that you aren't run by the government as there would be no lifeboat cover in the majority of areas around the coast of Britain.
one of the parts of being with the RNLI is you never know what your gonna get called to could be a person, a boat, a horse, a cow, a dog or even a cat the RNLI saves all lives at sea.
Someone could put small footholds or a ladder structure onto that wall to help small animals climb back out if they get stuck, but still glad they saved the cat.
HM coastguard: We chased a small dog at the bottom of a cliff at the gaints causeway for a hour RNLI: We rescued a cat in the river Thames HM Coastguard: why do you get to be the favourite...
Very stressful for the wee kitty. A firm hand, with thick leather gloves, is needed. Strike with towel completely covering kitty, wrap around kitties head and body, stick towel and kitty inside deckhouse and shove off, kitty will be fine. Apply catfood to cat as a restorative.
When a cat is little its mother will pick it up by the scruff of the neck. A human can do the same with a cat at any age. They can't scratch or bite you and they usually just stay still until you put them somewhere
That cat found its way there, probably every day. It's a black cat , they are extra special. I think it could have scaled that wall but had been distressed prior to this event, either by swan or spectators. The handling of the cat distressed me . It could well have run straight under a car after avoiding the dog Off its leed. I kept my cats in for one year then decided it was a bit selfish and let them out. they're nearly 4 now and good. Touch wood. Not having a go, just defending the cat . Sorry.
Shouldn’t they have called a vet to scan it for a chip? Lol that cat could have belonged to someone who’s now wandering where their cat is. Good job regardless, cats that are scared can tear you to bits
We're pleased to report the cat is safe and well with his owner Etienne, who popped into the station to say a socially distanced thank you. It turns out his family are long-time RNLI donors so actually played a part in funding Merlin the cat's rescue!
@@rnli How wonderful!! Truly an exceptional charity made of exceptional people! I wish your staff all the best for further rescues of Merlins and humans alike.
'Oh no, I don't need to put my dog on a lead in a public place it never runs off' .... hmmm yes, right & great rescue - smothering/wrapping with a towel far safer than trying to just scruff it
Nice job a bit vicious I think you guys you are awesome a better idea would have been to pin it down with the towel and grab it by it's scruff of its neck that's where the mum picked it up so it doesn't actually hurt it but it's more control especially if it is a more urgent situation
He should have held the moggie closer to him because both of them could have been badly hurt. Anyone who owns a cat knows how dangerous those murder mittens are.
Health & safety etc hindered this as helmets & life jackets inn 1 ft of water just scared the cat. Funniest part is they released the cat a waiting dog.
That cat could have climbed that wall once it had a rest. it got distressed by the lifeguard and panicked. It was either after the ducks or watching the water as my black cat does. I'd have grabbed it with scruff of neck first time and not let it go in front of a dog off its leed. This video pissed me off and I've just subscribed as well. Before I watched this video. The RNLI are better than government but this was upsetting. Sorry.
Poor little buddy tried to swim for its life, glad the RNLI was there to save it! :)
Does that count as saving nine lives?
That's a good question!
Ha ha ha and then it got chased by the dog!!! Very funny, especially their little exotic dance!! Nice save.
Thanks Emily - glad you enjoyed it!
Well done you saved it’s life
They saved my cats life

If you saw this rescue in full you'd know this is a middle class puss living in a very nice home.

Gold star rescue clearly
Watching him put on his purple latex gloves. I’m thinking he’d need welder gloves to not be massacred by the cat.

Is that the rescue victim that fought the hardest to prevent their own rescue?
Great job guys 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you Elliot!
Poor thing is so scared.
oh brilliant not only do the rescue cats but boat people as well. :) good on you boys and girls,
Thanks Brian, glad you enjoyed the video!
Well done guys 👍

Glad they managed to save the cat, I am sure it was able to out run the dog!
Ooohhhh !! Chiswick ! In Welsh accent
Omg that was funny
Well done guys I don’t why people just leave cats on the street like that I makes me so sad to see them just like that but well done 👍🏼

I think the cat was after one of the baby ducks 🦆

They couldn't keep hold of it. It was terrified.
Haha, those lads could so easily have pulled there.
'Oh no, I don't need to put my dog on a lead in a public place it never runs off' .... hmmm yes, right

Safer for the RNLI, not the cat.

It’s my cat aswell
Haha catwoman lookalike
Saved the cat only to be eaten by a dog

Hope they make a better job of rescuing humans

A simple solution would be to put foot holds or ladder like structures onto these wall so small animals like cats could climb out.
