No joke - that woman (hi Rhonda!) found that 1/4 ozt nugget at AKAU in like 5 minutes when we hosted the trip in 2023. We rarely find nuggets like that in 500 hours dredging the bottom of the Bering Sea each summer. It really is a special place. Go to emilysalaska.com/ to find out how you can visit AKAU and come see our operation in action in Nome this summer!
Emily, this might be a baaaad question, given luck But how do you keep your O/B engines from getting stolen? Hell, how to keep anything from getting stolen. I have a nice boat here with a 300 Mercury. The engine weighs 512 pounds, and I've had it stolen TWICE off the dock along with my freeking electronics. It's not like it's an island of just me...there are a hundred higher end boats docked.

Really enjoying this series. The production value is surprisingly high for a small operation (I assume). I appreciate the lack of manufactured drama in favor of a straightforward look into the real day-to-day. Looking forward to more. Best of luck for your season! 🤞🙏
Thanks so much! We did a lot to improve from last season. Upgraded the cameras to a more user-friendly model. Lapel mics. Alex got a drone license so we could get shots from the air. Hired a professional editor. It's just the crew shooting and doing a very difficult job (gold dredging) at the same time. They really stepped up
Hi Emily, so glad your doing your own thing now vs. the drama of BSG. so impressed with your operation and how far you've come. I've watched since the beginning on BSG. LOVE the improvements to the dredge. hope you have a gold filled season.
Its called a Tie Bar Valve. It doesn’t prevent misalignment of engines. It is used to align them. Check the users manual for instructions on how to do it. You can do it when you set it up and occasionally through the season when you see misalignment.
Thanks, Alex and Emily. This show is put together VERY WELL! I can't wait to see the next one and then the next 1. 40 minutes seems like a perfect amount of time unless you want to make them longer, ha ha. I love seeing the mechanical side of how things are done and I'm looking forward to seeing all of you together making money.
I have to say I’m so glad your out on your own with your crew/partners in gold I really really like watching here on UA-cam Way more than when I used to watch on tv. Me too! The drone was worth every penny. Kicking myself for not having one in 2023 but Alex needed to go get an FAA license in the offseason because we were too close to the airport to operate without one.
Emily, a skilled CEO is OFTEN a qualified musician. I've been watching your progress since day one and am pleased that your talents have put you on the road to business greatness. I could put you into any great organization and you would excel.
This was an excellent production from team Emily. Thank you once again for taking the editing and the story telling to another level. I am already looking forward to the next episode
Emily, thanks for making this video Zane allowing us to see behind the scenes of what it really takes just to get ready to go gold mining in the Bearing Sea. You and your husband have put together some really good teammates. Their combined knowledge brings a lot to the table. As a welder, I know the difficulties that your two team members had to deal with in rebuilding the nozzle and suction line. Really good job for what they had to work with.
Came to the comments to say just this. I was a little unsure of Ross in his introduction episode but man, he’s proven himself to be quite the asset. I’m just chomping at the bit for this season to get underway but yet I’m going to miss the “pre season” routine as well. I can't stress enough how much I love that you talk the two routes you can go dredging. Run it into the ground, yeet it on the scrapheap and retire. Or, keep investing on improving the rig and make it safer and more reliable with each season. I am curious do you see smaller scale operations like yours switching from divers to ROV's as you go deeper, or you can't beat the flexibility of human divers, even if there are risks involved.
Thanks! ROVs are the future, but for now you need to be pretty smart to make one of those successful. It's not an off-the-shelf solution. I promise not everyone who's "building a crawler" right now will succeed. If the gold price keeps moving in the right direction there should be some runway for high-performing diver dredges. Not as long as ROVs, but I think several more years
I liked this, especially the gold price and difference at the beginning of each day. Suggestion: show it in graph form. Viewers like me won't remember what the price was from the day before.

Because the quality is excellent and I love that you've taken out all the BS I know that the networks want some like bang and excitement you truly make this kind of interesting and wow I like it, and obviously I'm not alone

Really digging the new shows Emily. Production is very good and I'm really looking forward to seeing the mining this season but grateful for the videos on getting the Eroica ready to mine.
Love these. Can’t wait to see more!
I hate all the skipping about in BSG, this is much better. Love seeing how the team works, all the real issues, it gives more value to the success. Love you all and am waiting for the next installment. If I were single and not 66, think Id be on Em's trip for a lifetime experience. I metal detect as a hobby and I think its the same mentality , lots of slack periods then 'boom'...paydirt. I'd do opal hunting given the chance as well, but 16hrs on my butt....mmmmm-puts me off. Why isnt there Gold (Wales /Scotland both poor excuses!)/Opals fields in the UK?
