- Spent the day fishing for catfish at my favorite fishing spot. For bait, I used shrimp and my chicken liver chum bait. I modified the chicken liver chum bait by adding garlic powder and clam juice. Although more fish were caught on shrimp, there were an equal amount of bites on the chum bait. All in all, it was a good fishing trip. I grew up in the south fishing for these scrumptious fish and moved to Colorado as a youth and the fishing of choice here is trout...We really don't have great catfishing here so im headed to Mississippi to get my fill of it. I love these videos because I get the whole experience. It's 25 degrees blowing 30, and the truck is out of commission so I'm high and dry. Luckily, I can fish vicariously through these videos

Now this was a REAL fishing video! I mean, normal guy, average waters, normal tackle. I have to say I liked it. I felt like I was sitting right there with you man through thick and thin, bites and no bites. Thanks for showing us how it usually is...not how it sometimes is.
I'm 43 never liked fishing until now. We started camping first then that lead to us trying to fish. We are 0-4 so far but like so of the comments said. It is just so great to be out and away from the Dallas. Good video bro.
I finally found this video!!! Me and my nephew watched this video like 6 years ago a night before we went fishing and the next day had the best day of fishing ever and always said this video brought us the good luck haha and now I finally found it again!!

The Carolina set up is my way of fishing. I really enjoyed watching this. Shrimp and creek chubs are the best cat bait i have ever used.

I'm a paranoid catfish fisherman....i keep my eyes glued to the lines. I was watching your poles and was yelling....DUDE YOU GOT A BITE lol and your head was turned hahaha. Hate when that happens.
Excellent videos! Kris not only is informative and knows his stuff, but He also has a way of making his viewers feel as though they're right there fishing with him! I'm definitely gonna have to make it out his way sometime and get on some of those BIG Flatheads!

i agree with moving around, we fish in wisconsin on small rivers and it really works, we win tons of tournaments with this method
That area is nice and peaceful. That's the main reason I go fishing, just to enjoy the outdoors. If I just happen to catch a fish, well that's just gravy on top.

I feel you brother, I'm from south west n.m. Over by cruces and i remember fishing the rio grand, elephant, and caballo as a kid. Good times. Now the rio grand is bone dry most of the year and the lakes so shallow it sucks.

I know exactly what your talking about. I loved this video. This video got me fiending for some time on the river more then any of those videos where they "skip to the good parts ever would". Fishing is not all about the catch. If the only reason you are out there is to land fish after fish your missing out on a whole lot.

It's funny how me and you were the only ones who noticed or stared at this guy's rods for fifteen FUKIN minutes I skipped thru tho honestly just happened to be a pro tattow tattow I'm fat and like beer a lot and chicken wings as hot as you can get em I operate equipment and have tattoos I used to never miss church but now I never go and life used to be absolutely amazing now it just feels like I have a empty whole in my belly where happiness used to live but who knows when it'll finally up and put it's walking boots on and come back home I think I'll go rake leaves or go catch lightning bugs or somthing who the hell knows or cares I may have some leftovers in the fridge and I like dip with chips not chips and dip I wanted to be a hero when I was younger but not so much anymore I wish I had not a lot of money but enough to help me and family afford a reasonable living and this guy's dog named tbone makes me miss my dog it was hit by a car after 16 years I figured he'd drown or run away or I would go before him but he got deaf and was struck by a car he looked both ways before passing before he was deaf and I miss him . This guy here though seems content and happy with life I will continue to search for some kind of happiness or good deed to do for someone so maybe I could even smile or wince and blowing wing of just the faintest bit of happiness but time will only tell thank you for listening or reading or maybe no thankyou for not you be that judge goodbye my friend or not so friend farewell and good luck to you and your journey to happiness you know as well as I know now .. near far wherever you are I believe that our will go on forever I'm flying jack I'm flying

thought this was a great fishing video! its pretty realistic as far as how someones fishing trip will probably go. i think this is a great video for a new fishermen to look at.
Great video. I used to fish Elephant Butte when I was a kid. I went out there a year ago and was heartbroken at how things now look.
First time viewer here. Followed the Outdoor Boys to their visit with you. Great time you all had.
Were over in Santa Rosa Lake and yes, the water is very low here too. Between a poor run off from the Spring melt do a low monsoon season. The fishing has been slow and there patterns off. The Walleye didn't know when to spawn even the cats and carp were lost.
With this last park opening the cats are bitting on bread and chicken livers, the depth doesn't seem to matter, mostly 1 lbs channel cats but every so often a nice 5 lb one bites. Still trying for the biggest cats.

What you could do with the shrimp is add flavor. Using whole shrimp, dip half of it in garlic/ garlic oil / garlic spray the heck outta it ( Bang in garlic works effectively) Or soak em in halfway in some fishcocktail ( I live in california, I use anchovies, herring, or bloody tuna meat just minced up, or use pro cure scents.)
Leave it. The look on your face, the attention you give to your fishing poles. This is hands down the best video I've seen on UA-cam. Editing is for people that want to be above the rest. I'd watch one hour of your videos, even if you didn't catch a cat. You love to fish for cats. That's why I watch you videos. Please keep them coming, and I'd love to see some of your mishaps. It show's a human side to fishing. We aren't perfect. If we were, I'd be eating some catfish now.

Great video Muddyriver...Came from Carolina and did a lot of that myself...river bank fishing :) Soak in saltwater overnight and fry in flour and HOT oil..Berry

Hey kris I have a catfish rig for you to try.... Get a sponge and cut a 1 inch cube and soak it in chicken liver juice over night and the catfish will not want to let go of it. You can keep using it on every cast.

I have fished the RG my whole life. I really wish there were cats this big here in the Albuquerque to socorro area. I have never caught any over 25" here.
Well I tried your clam chicken recipe and it works well around here, thanks! Then I tried something crazy... I blended chicken liver mixed with clam juice and garlic and injected that seasoned liver paste into the breast chunks. Then I marinated the breast in the left over liver and another bottle of clam juice. That worked very, very well for around here.

I remember going to elephant butte like 5 years ago and it was pretty high then I went in 2014 and it was pretty low but it's gotten higher since then

Looks like a great place to spend a couple of days. I would bring a few Molson Canadians along and join you anytime. Have to keep Hydrated ya know. Fishin can be thirsty work some days. I love those type of areas. I'm a Flat Lander, unfortunately, but the one place that I go for Carp and Jack, you walk in a little over a 1/4 mile, and you wouldn't know that you weren't in the Bayous. Totally different Eco System. Prairie, a little hike, the Bayou. I love it. I like your instructional videos too. We do have Channel Cats and Bull Heads on the Bald Ole Prairie here, so going to make an effort this Summer. We have some nice river systems that feed our lakes, that look close to where you are. I usually go for Carp, which also are wary and put up a fight. Nothing like setting up your folding chair, open a cold one and wait. I have a Camper Van, so will have something to eat, light a small bon fire by the waters edge, and do some night fishing. Hit the couch for a few hours and be the first one up and out in the early morning.
Sounds like you got it all figured out there Terry. That's exactly why I go fishing. To get away from the everyday chaos and relax in the peace and quiet of mother nature. Being hypnotized by the campfire or watching the stars and listening to the creatures of the night really has a way of recharging the soul.
Love the videos. I do awfully well on CJ's Monster punch bait out of OKC OK. Especially with a small current like this vid. Limit after limit. Keep up the videos.
Hey Kris, started watching your episode of muddyrivercat fishing I really enjoy your show. I tried your chicken liver chum bait, however I didn't add the oil of the sardines I added the whole can. Didn't catch any cat fish this trip but I did catch a 45 pound softshell turtle a 30 pounder and a 19 pound snapping turtle. Next time hopefully ill catch some cats lol thanks for your ideas.

good video I love catfishing on dead line and yyou dont have to hold the rod just sit back and wait thats the fun and as for the size as long as their big enough to eat it really doesnt matter plus the guy is having fun let him enjoy
