Thank you for showing the different types of winders, I didn’t know about waxing the yarn before winding - thats a great tip which I’m going to use from now on, thanks again
Well done for this, I hate those foreign UA-cam’s showing someone knitting direct from a ball which is bobbing around at the back. I have a whole list of what I do and don’t do regarding balled yarns, whether to pull from inside or out, whether to use a thread net (if it’s a slippery viscose or shiny acrylic) and if using the Brother type winder I put on a toilet roll cardboard tube and leave it in until I actually need to use it as that stops the centre collapsing in. I will also number the cakes if it am using a variegated yarn so the colours don’t jump in the middle of a sweater front. Usually the winding process helps me to decide how I will use the cake when I actually knit my garment. Happy knitting 😁
Great tip about numbering variegated balls. I was working a beautiful turquoise and shades of gray but ended with a huge turquoise massing the back. Couldn't figure why but think that may be the problem. Thank you 😊
I usually make a "cone" with paper to put on the ball winder which means i can then pull the ball from the outside when knitting. Not the prettiest solution, but it works
Hello all. I'd like to know where can I find the cones that go with the cone winder at 5.40 minutes in the video. In other words, the Knitmaster cone winder. Thank you
Thank you for the careful instructions …I was having a job winding properly until I watched your video!

Thank you for this. I have the ball winder with the hair roller thing and I've ruined so much wool trying to use it.

I've had a heck of a time trying to find a cone winder!
Amazon do them.
Awesome thanks for sharing!
I have an update on my yarn winder! Turns out, I've been cranking the handle the wrong way 🤣
