Zoolook is the album i enjoy the most. It never gets old.
Zoolook is a masterpiece. So clever and utterly perfect.

Zoolook is one of best albums ever, and Ethnicolor is an brilliant & perfect creation & an historic song of Experimental world of music.
Ethnicolor have a long & creative haunting intro, with perfect game of vocals, synth, & drums. And all changes with the real highlight of the song IMO at seven minutes until the end of eleven minutes and 51 seconds, with an powerful wake sythm chord that evolve until the song become in an anthem and it changes the song from experimental to an really Electronic song with an emotional atmosphere sound at same time.

i rememeber when i was a small boy, and listening to Jarres STereo Vinyl LP at my local Library
I really loved the Fairlight and the special music of it from various artists (especially from Bognermayer and Zuschrader with the Erdenklang label). Magnetic Fields 2 and the use of the Fairlight still makes it today my favourite Jarre clip.

Ethnicolor is a VERY haunting track & a really intense introduction of "Zoolook". The whole album was indeed a giant leap & a fascinating evolution of Jean-Michel Jarre's musical works. So much different than the previous Albums. I sometimes compare it a bit to the Klaus Schulze Album "Dig It" which too marked an important turn. Zoolook will also always have a special connection to me because it came out in 1984, when I was born :)

Zoolook is possibly my favourite of them all, sure Oxygene was the first I heard and that changed my world, and technically Equinoxe is a better album than that, however Zoolook was really quite something else. I remember paying £50 for a tape recording of the Supermarkets AM broadcast, it was awful sound quality but you could still really hear the experimentation and the exploration of the Fairlight. Be nice to see more images/films from the production of these records, that would be fascinating.
A couple of friend and me doing some music on our synthesizers (not on that awesome equipment like yours!) in minimal and hardstyle.
Since we watching your vids on YT you're a big inspiration for us! You are our Menthor of our Generation like Pierre Schaffer was!

Those samples from Supermarkets sounded pretty clear...how much of that ended up on Planet Jarre?

PikaSka Alt it doesn’t exist. The master tape was destroyed.
jdrukman Actually, only the plates used for pressing the record were destroyed. As evidenced by Blah Blah Café on Zoolook and Fifth Rendez-Vous Part III, he still has that tape somewhere.

I bought new CDs and they are great. But "Roseland", "La cage", "Happiness is a sad song" and "Aor bleu" are... I do not even know how to call it. I'm really glad that I didn't start to listen JMJ beginning with those songs, because I would stop to do that. Please, do not do that kind of "music" anymore.
