My favorite tradition was spending Christmas Eve with my Mother, but she passed in January. I will be trying to est a new tradition this year. Love you both! Merry Christmas 🎄
Christmas Eve is my favorite set of traditions...church and candlelight service, party food at our house and then Christmas Vacation...now that we are active empty nesters...we are generally by ourselves...but, the last few years we have had our friends/neighbors up for the food...and it is nice...
We have started a tradition of decorating our tree in home with the help of the grandchildren. We are now not allowed to put any ornaments on the tree until they are here to do it, which actually is really a big help since they are old enough and tall enough to cover most parts of the tree. The first couple of years, everything was placed in the bottom 1/3 of the tree. Now we have a fully covered tree!
Listening to you talk about Valley Fair Mall brought back memories! I used to shop there when we lived in West Valley City many years ago. Our tradition is I cook for Thanksgiving and my daughter-in-law cooks for Christmas. We spend Christmas day at their house after Mass.
Love the Santa quilts. Love all of Ann Hazelwood’s books. When we were little on Christmas morning Dad took us to all the Czech neighbors and I don’t know how to spell the Czech title but it went like this We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year A pocket full of money and a cellar full of of beer. And a big fat pig to last you all the year. They would always give us a treat. Some of the non-Czech neighbors loved it and didn’t want to be left out so we always visited them too.
Our family holiday tradition is new pajamas for everyone to open on Christmas Eve. Even though everyone knows what’s in the gift they are opening - it’s a tradition everyone adores and all want to continue each year. Another tradition we do every year is Christmas Eve holiday light looking after Christmas Eve services!
Our Christmas tradition was getting woke up very early on Christmas morning to see what Santa had brought. Then heading over to Grandma's house for a very big Christmas gathering of all the family. Aunts, Uncles, cousins, - the house was always overflowing with people, food and most important - Love. I also agree that there are certain foods that MUST be on the table at Christmas (or Thanksgiving) or it just doesn't feel right!
We would always get the kids new pajamas every Christmas but now they’re grown, however, we have a brand new grandbaby coming and I guess we get to start the tradition once again. So excited.
We have a couple of traditions. The oldest one is everyone bakes a cookie to put on the cookie tray that is part of the desserts after Christmas dinner. The newest one is going out for lunch/dinner with my husband in December. Our main focus is the family during this month so we try to make time for just us.
A new tradition we have started for each holiday is signing our names to the table cloth and any words we want to share or things we are thankful for and add the date. So then we can look back through the years to see who was there and shared our table.
Our Christmas tradition is to have coffee cake and breakfast casserole on Christmas morning before opening gifts. We go around the room and take turns opening our gifts.
Thanks for including the little girls in your video. They are darling!! My favorite Christmas tradition is decorating the tree. Mom and dad would put it up and us 3 girls would decorate it. I let my boys decorate my tree and to carry on the tradition.
My favorite Christmas traditions is…. On Christmas Eve night after dinner we go on a drive to look at the lights. And… magically when we get back home Santa has come and left gifts under the tree! Thank you for sharing. Those girls are precious!
Our favorite tradition is to go spend the night with the grand children on Christmas Eve. We get to wake up and see what Santa brought and open presents. Then we have Christmas breakfast. Great table talk can't wait til next week.
A favorite Christmas tradition since a child, is the Advent Candle. It is lit each evening in a countdown to Christmas Day. I still continue this, even though children are gone. Now a widow, the tradition is still meaningful to have time each day in a reminder of the true meaning of Christmas.
Traditionally get up Christmas morning and have cinnamon rolls, open gifts, a lite snack in the afternoon and then a big dinner. After diner we work a jigsaw puzzle. Merry Christmas
One of my favorite holiday traditions is actually on New Years Eve. My dad believed that at midnight a man had to walk through your door first to bring good luck to the new year. Not so if it happened to be a woman. (Olden days, I know.). He made sure this was adhered to and believe me during a New Jersey winter it could be quite cold at midnight on the 31st. I have continued this tradition for the past 51 years in my own home and now text my three children to remember to have a man walk through their door first, too. It brings a happy joy to my heart to watch this tradition continue as my dads been gone a long time now.
Our favorite Christmas tradition is we make clam chowder and cheese biscuits from scratch on Christmas Eve. This allows my grandchildren to spend Christmas day with the other grandparents.
