How much of this was just immature womanizing? She is quite attractive, maybe some the young soldiers just liked her. Also some soldiers probably may have felt, that she was given special treatment, her being an army model, and wanted to air that. Everything is not about racism. We need to hear the other side of the story, but the BBC unfortunately never gives us that.

@@CaptainRedbeard-qd2gkso playing the Jango Unchained music was to welcome her? Wow. How can racism end if, when it’s pointed out, here comes the yous of this world… maybe it was this or maybe it was that. The young black woman is telling you what she experienced and you’re trying to gaslight her that it isn’t what it is. This is why I could never have one of you in my bed, my mental health would be destroyed if you face racism outside and gaslighting at home.

As a mixed race guy at University in the 80's, I did officer training for the Army. Everything went OK for 3 years and I was at bases all round the UK for CIOR competition until one day I had to go again to Brookwood.
There was a different unit on guard duty that weekend and they had never seen my junior officer badge before so they asked me about it. Soon as I told them I was training to be an officer, they said "no white soldier would ever follow a black officer into battle."
That was the day the dream died.
Editing this bit in for those who think I "gave up" too easy - go and look at history records and see what happened in battle to junior lieutenants that the soldiers didn't like or wish to follow into battle. 2nd and 1st lieutenants often have high mortality rates anyway but trust in the military is a two way thing - you trust the person taking you into battle and you trust the men you lead to follow your orders.
I did join - as an ordinary grunt and I served my 4 years.
OK - back to the original post below.
Reading what happened to Kerry-Ann Knight, nothing has really changed. White squaddies accuse the ethnic minority population of not being patriotic but when we do try and sign up - the same squaddies are the ones shrouding racist abuse at ethnic minority troops.

I was calm throughout the meeting, and when I asked if they had finished and if I could leave, they were visibly disappointed.
When I walked out of the room, I saw security personnel outside the door and dotted along the corridor. I realized their disappointment stemmed from there not being an incident. It became clear to me that they had hoped to engineer an incident and then have reason to sanction me. That's when I knew my complaint had placed a big fat red dot on me.
I salute you Kerry-Ann. Some of us fought back and didn't win. You fought back and won. I consider it a win for all of us black women bullied and harassed in the work place. Bless you.

@@canstudylife I'm in the Navy, I couldn't tell you anything about the Army. During my time for the most part black women do well in the military. Just like everywhere else black folks deal with racism but find ways to navigate around it. I've watched over the last 20 years black women get promoted at every level. Some are good, some of them are bad and some are great. From the outside looking in the difference between the U.S and the U.K Black Americans has always faced our racism head on. We are the only group out of the diaspora to fight back consistently and get critical wins. Verses in the U.K and the rest of the diaspora they fight for assimilation. There hasn't been a cemented civil rights movement in Great Britain and slave revolt in the U.K. If homegirl was serving in the U.S the brothers would have kicked dust for her let alone stand up for herself. But to answer your question the military will take care of her as long as she takes care of herself.
