The "Geeko" high school reference had to do with Team Four Stars collaboration with Honest Trailers for the Dragon Ball Evolution movie it's honestly a good watch.
This episode was done years before the Honest Trailer. The bullies in the Evolution movie actually called Goku Geeko, which is where they both get it from. Considering the famous people it in, that movie is really bad due to the bad writing. On that note, yeah, I also recommend watching the Honest Trailer.
To be clear I was saying the Honest Trailer was a good watch not the crappy live action movie of which we do not speak, and yes I may have miss spoke about the timing, but nonetheless the collab happened and it was glorious.
So I'm not sure if somebody has mentioned this, just got to the solar flare part. In future episodes, whenever the solar flare is being used... there is a split second of a surprise image. Meaning that when it occurs, you have to pause and play at every frame that it's being used for a surprise image. ... Have fun ;)
Someone definitely commented about it in an earlier episode, but it bears repeating, because we all want to make sure she remembers to look for the images. She’s too much fun to not want her to join us in the “scarred for life” club. ;-P
PRO TIP: Save the searching for AFTER you watched the episode, so you don't break the pace/immersion of the episode.. Too many reactors have gone 1-2 minutes trying to pause it, then forgot where they pick up from.

Tbf, Vegeta killed 2 "things" since he got to the planet. In order: Vegeta Junior (Saibamen), as he felt offended by the name Nappa gave it; Nappa (Sayan), as he felt offended by his existance. Edit: TBF again... He didn't kill anything FROM THE PLANET.
It only gets better from here, you will love how nappa pops up from this point on to drive Vegeta insane, he functions like a imaginary friend that Vegeta is the only one who can see him

Like others have said, it's only gonna get better and better and better from here. I grew up with DBZ starting way back in 2001 and getting to see DBZA as it came out (painfully long waits between episodes included) was just awesome. Love binging the whole thing every once in a while, it's just that good. Also I'm really glad you decided to go with subtitles and that they're the normal ones and not the Canadian ones. They're funny but yeah, very distracting, especially on a first watch. Anyway! Subscribed ^_^
Fun fact: The english dub made it seem like Goku let vegeta go because hes morally heroic but this was not the case in fact its the opposite. He selfishly asks Krillin to let him go so he can have another chance to fight him again even mentioning that it would be a waist to kill him and it's probably his saiyan biology that makes him want to risk everything by keeping him alive so he can fight him again lol. So TFS are basically making fun of the original dub version by exaggerating the stupidity of it. Also the saiyan arc is actually my joint favourite with the red ribbon army, 22nd and 23rd tenkaichi budokai arcs from og DB. The freeza arc is close for me but it drags on to much. Cell arc has some of the best moments but is also ridiculous at times and the boo arc is a mess although it also has really good moments.
I don’t think the dub’s change was stupid. It’s entirely inline with dub Goku, who on the whole is a much more heroic figure than his Japanese counterpart, who both acts and sounds like a child.

You've got to watch the Dead Zone, World's Strongest, and Tree of Might movies before moving on to season 2. They are all canon in the DBZA story. Maybe DBZA Kai episode one if you feel like it.

to the question if it was the first kamehameha in this show it depends on what you mean. in the abridged it's yes, while in the real DBZ, No. In the fight against Nappa goku had to use the the Kamehameha to counter an energy blast if my memory serves me well.
I know you were wondering if Bardock was canon in a previous episode, but let me tell you he is. If he wasn't canon, than a very important part of the Goku-Vegeta fight wouldn't be able to take place. Vegeta doesn't have a natural moon to transform into his giant monkey form (Oozaru), so he says the Saiyans have learned to create artificial moons. Guess who was the Saiyan who invented them? That's right! Bardock! Not only was he a warrior in service to Frieza, but he was also a very good scientist.
For me, the most satisfying fight is Goku vs Cell based on the animation and choreography. It's just so smooth and sick. I use it as an example when I say I don't like the way Super's fights are animated. Things snap around too fast while also appearing stiff, and like they're moving on rails when fighting. It's weird. And amazing how they can take a character as forgettable as Nappa and make him someone super memorable even long after death, to where people are actually *happy* he's still around lol.
Here is everything Launch did DBZ. Took care of Tien's farm while he was training and fighting the saiyans. Drowning herself in booze after she saw him die on GLOBAL NEWS. Finally, she was a truck driver when Goku asked everyone for energy to beat Kid Buu.
If i recall right, even in the actual anime, the only person Vegeta kills once he gets to earth is Nappa, one of his own lol. Like Nappa kills more than him. By far.
Yajirobe is so strong, but hardly does anything after this, unless you count DB Super. He was nearly as strong as Goku in the King Piccolo arc of Dragon Ball, despite never training. Akira Toriyama hardly lets him shine
Toriyama only really writes for about 2 and a half characters at a time. He does give the villains a personality though and the old weekly schedule for a chapter did not give a lot of room but darn so many members of the ensemble get the short end of the stick.

Actually Saiyan saga fights weren't so long. Nappa vs Z warriors 4 episodes (one against Goku) and Goku/ Gohan vs. Vegeta 5 episodes. So is fights vs. Recoome, Ginyu or 2nd form Frieza. All 3-4 episodes tops. Only starting with Goku vs. Frieza big showdown it took that long.
This is apparently because, even at 1 chapter per episode, they were still catching up with the manga, and didn't have any real filler to pad the anime, so they resorted to extending the fight.
I checked to be sure. Goku uses the Kamehameha against Raditz while Piccolo was powering up his Special Beam. Not during training with King Kai though, so this is the second time we see it in DBZ.

lol excluding filler and movies I believe the spirit bomb has only been used 4 times. it's almost never effective

He was nearly as strong as Goku in the King Piccolo arc of Dragon Ball, despite never training. Akira Toriyama hardly lets him shine
Toriyama only really writes for about 2 and a half characters at a time. He does give the villains a personality though and the old weekly schedule for a chapter did not give a lot of room but darn so many members of the ensemble get the short end of the stick.

@@marcellomercuri5619 He (in the future) saves Goku and Vegeta from Zamasu while the resistance guys momentarily distract him. He also (in the present) acts as a sort of test fighter for Roshi's training before the T.o.P.

Actually Saiyan saga fights weren't so long. Nappa vs Z warriors 4 episodes (one against Goku) and Goku/ Gohan vs. Vegeta 5 episodes. So is fights vs. Recoome, Ginyu or 2nd form Frieza. All 3-4 episodes tops. Only starting with Goku vs. Frieza big showdown it took that long.
This is apparently because, even at 1 chapter per episode, they were still catching up with the manga, and didn't have any real filler to pad the anime, so they resorted to extending the fight.
I checked to be sure. Goku uses the Kamehameha against Raditz while Piccolo was powering up his Special Beam. Not during training with King Kai though, so this is the second time we see it in DBZ.
