  • Today, I will discuss couple options in Streamline operation in NX CAM.
Streamline let's you create very smooth tool paths for milling even sophisticated shapes of part surfaces.
You will get most of Streamline operation when you will learn how to define flow- and cross-curves manually.
It can be used not only for 3-axis operations but also for simultaneous 5-axis milling operations.

    Incredible content!
Please, can you make available the 3D models used in this class?
Thank you for your attention and for sharing your knowledge with us.
    Congratulations!

In your programming starting at 6:00 you select 2 flow curves without any sections. Can't it damage the part and distort geometry?

Flow and Cross curves in Streamline are used to define DRIVE GEOMETRY. Drive geometry is not an actual toolpath. It is not the easiest topic to explain... Toolpath is created by projecting the drive geometry on part geometry along projection vector. You can be sure that it won't gouge the part in this case.
Drive geometry doesn't even have to be build basing on part.
It might sounds confusing at the beginning, but it gets more "reasonable" while trying it with more examples.
I always suggest to experiment with different drive geometry settings and different projection vectors. This way we can understand better how it works.

NCmatic thank you. I've never even tried using streamline without cross sections, your toolpath is nice and clean. In many cases i get a lot of unnecessary aerial moves and when the cutter goes around objects it makes nasty motions in the radius corners, like vertical zigzag.
Thank you for your vids, i really enjoyed this one where you added explanation.
      Thanks.

Can you teach me how to permanently modify the width of a toolpath like yours? The default is too thick, use ctrl+shift+v to modify the display width in the line, and it will not work if you turn on nx again, thank you very much
