you would think that after a 40 something minute tutorial I would have internalized the idea that you can use rings while drifting to keep your momentum, but here we are
I wouldn't because that would have been a very handy topic to go over with the bomb portion of the tutorial since I kept dying from losing speed. Not a ring in sight for that bit in that tutorial...
@@kyotanaka920I think that’s because while the SPB is chasing you, you can’t collect rings and can only use them. But since you can use them, pointing this out with a full ring gauge before it chases would be even more useful even if SPBs are rare
@@turca7461 yeah, I’m saying the devs should remove those black holes and start you off with max rings in the SPB section to show that they’re not replenishable when being chased.
@@kyotanaka920 I'd say it was still a good section to go over since it shows you can outrun the bomb without any external help but I think doing an optional one where you do have rings for it would've been nice just to show the difference.
Its fucked up that this is the same difficulty I'm playing on but the game is responding to how good you are by making the Rival character ludicrously fast.
@@OficeChair Oh, massively. There's clips of the designated Rival's perspective in replays where they start going at mach 4 just to catch up with you. The trick that’s always worked for me even in Mario Kart is to start drifting early, and then hold the opposite direction so you’re going in a nearly straight line, then at the apex you sharply turn the corner by holding in the direction of your drift Here you can also use whatever rings you have on hand to increase your speed, which you can use to take way wider drifts around big corners for those super boosts
It's the sequel, and it seems to still be in the DOOM 2 engine, but I think it's mostly new. It definitely feels a lot different from SRB2K in any case

@emperortoehoe I'm not talking abt the parts where u have to hit the things with a ball. I'm talking abt the special stage he entered after beating green hills
One of the conditions to unlock the Special Stage is to end the cup with 50 rings at least. Edit: You also need to complete both Prison Eggs stages and to get a B rank or higher at every race, but mostly A ranks, and (maybe) 5 extra lives at least.
That's why it's important to adjust to the controls! This game actually wants you to drift WAY earlier than any Mario Kart game *specifically* so that you don't overshoot the track and go into off-road.
You can hit brake during drift to maintain the sparks and still get the boost, but slow your momentum even more, it takes getting used to, and you don't gain more boost from doing it, but you can use it to correct your angle. Using a boost or rings during drift also helps you take tighter turns, too. A more meta note on drifting, specifically for against CPUS: If you find CPUs are overtaking you while drifting, it's because Kart Krew couldn't program them to be able to drift without breaking their pathing, so they can just take tighter turns naturally. As a result, during long spiral turns, they'll just pass you if you try to hold a drift for too long. Chain together smaller drifts instead of going for a big one in those situations, it's especially bad on Hydro City Zone.
Wii doesn't have good drifting, you can't even drift brake or let go off the accelerator. Especially when that game favors too much to Inside drift bikes. Try using a Kart with low handling and you'll notice the big difference in the lines.
